I've visited several African countries and stayed in a number of game lodges, but Flatdogs is really up there amongst the best. We (four of us) stayed in the tented Croc's Nest which is beautifully designed by the owners, Jess and Ade, and has two bedroom/bathroom wings, and a large central sitting area with comfortable seating, a dining table and... This is number one for this area for a reason -- value. For one thing, you can order just about any food you like. This is important to me because I am diabetic. Watch out for the Baboons -- they are destructive and will get into your tent, if they can. Hippos and elephants also wander about. The name flt... More

We stayed here as part of our trip for my birthday to include Zambia and Malawi. From our initial safety orientation to our last farewell every experience was absolutely ten out of ten . Animals wander through the camp and guest safety is paramount. Within an hour of arriving I came face to trunk with a male elephant. I did... More

We stayed at Flatdogs for three nights in November. It is a great location by the park gate, unfenced so animals can walk through especially elephants, but this is not a problem and utmost care is taken with safety. Food was superlative - very unusual to have an a la carte menu in a lodge/camp like this. Although the chefs... More

Dazzle Africa safari guests stayed at Flatdogs for 4 nights and had a fantastic experience. Managers Jess, Ade and Paolo were attentive and made sure that our guest's needs were met. Wildlife surrounded the property. Food was excellent...we couldn't have asked for more.

I visited Flatdogs in late October with a friend. We have one of the tents which gave us AMAZING views of the animals. It's not unusual there to be woken up by a hippo out side your tent, or to have to wait to go back to your tent due to the elephants walking through. I've been to Africa 4... More

I'm not a good enough writer to put into words what a wonderful experience we had at Flatdogs. We had 6 nights there and most important to mention is that the staff is just unbelievably friendly, thoughtful, kind, and very patient with our 2 very young children! We stayed in Chalet 1 which was located just next to the pool,... More

A favourite with my husband and our two children, Flat Dogs was amazing value for money. We stayed in the extremely luxurious Croc's Nest, which gave new meaning to luxury camping, with two ensuite bedrooms, a vast living area and a palatial deck for sitting, eating and sunbathing. It even had it's own pool where you could swim and game... More

Beautiful setting, high quality accommodation, and outstanding service. Attention to detail in every possible respect. The food is superb, with a wide range of specials. Went with my girlfriend and another couple. Game viewing was great, with a variety of riverside landscapes. Lots of animals in the lodge grounds at night. We couldn't have asked for more from first to... More

Absolutely loved this place. I stayed in a Chalet, it had a nice shower and small kitchen. The food is very good (especially the chocolate brownie) and they have wifi for a small fee. There is also a pool and the whole place has a view of the river, so you can see animals cross (even had a giraffe outside... More
