We stayed here for 3 days as part of a 3 location stay and I have to say that this camp definitely has a family feel. It is family run and most of the guides and staff have been at the same camp for years. Many of the staff are from the local village and the camp really does play... More

Tafika Lodge is beautifully situated along the Luangwa River. The accommodations are wonderfully and sturdily made of local grasses, giving a pleasantly rustic feel to plush surroundings. Our house had a lovely view of an oxbow of the river filled with hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of bird life. The spacious room and its outdoor bathroom and shower were... More

Everything about Tafika as well as the three other Remote Africa safari camps was wonderful. Tafika is set on the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa Park and it was a pleasure to watch and listen to the many hippos from camp. The rooms are comfortable and the grounds are stunning. John and Carol as well as the rest of... More

A perfect way to enjoy Africa -but only for those who like the genuine experience. We felt so close to nature in the camp - the constant sights and sounds of hippos, the sunrises over the river, prolific bird life and hammocks to read a book if you can keep your eyes off wildlife activities. Dinner under the stars, chalets... More

We wanted to experience a safari without a lot of Disney-like distractions so I had chosen Tafika about a year before our trip. We had a snafu though when the rainy season started not slowly but ended up having one day of continuous rain which rained us out for two days so we were relocated. John and Carol (the owners)... What a pleasure to stay in this beautiful, comfortable and well run camp. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, the accommodation spacious and comfortable with great style. The food was excellent and plentiful. There was a choice of walking or driving and most of the time you had a maximum of 4 in a vehicle which meant the drives were... More

This was already my second visit to Tafika Camp and again I can't stress how much I enjoyed it. Brian and Heather were managing the camp but they did a superb job. I had some great sightings of wildlife including a flight of queleas which was like a flock of locusts blackening the sky. I saw lots of bushback and... More

Tafika is a gem - the staff, location, guides, food...it all comes together perfectly. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely - it was almost like being at my parent's place! The care and dedication of the staff is one of the best I've experienced. Do the walking safari - you will appreciate wildlife at a totally new level. For... More

We stayed 3 nights - at both Chicoko and Crocodile. Both were terrific. Guides were excellent (Amon and Mukupa),as were the rangers who kept us safe. Lots of walking, seeing animal tracks, we saw a lion kill and we were able to safely get close enough to see cubs among the whole pride. Comfortable accommodations, wonderfully prepared meals. We loved... More

The location, staff, and camp itself was fantastic. Previous posters have described the physical aspects of the camp very well. What I found particularly appealing was the interaction with the staff and the comfortable, family atmosphere. There was always a friendly smile whenever I left my chalet, from the groundskeepers all the way up to the owners. The food was... More
