Hi There, Thank you so much for your kind words, and we are happy to have been able to give you a trip to remember. We'll share the review with the staff so they can all see that it's not just us who think they're amazing! July is such a good time of year to visit, expecially for the elephants being in camp, with this year being so quiet due to Covid-19 we've started seeing a lot more animals in and around the camp, if ever there is a silver lining, that must be it! Cheers! From the Marula Family

We stayed during the whole Covid-19 crisis because we left the USA before restrictions. The lodge is great. We had what was called a "very nice room", a stone chalet practically on the Luangwa River. Game drives are 6-10 am and 3:30-7:30 pm and never disappointed. We saw lions and leopards and two wild dog kils in action on different days and much more. We ended up staying a 3rd night (highly recommended) to relax more. The pool was heated and nice during the mid day siesta time. Meals were tasty and plentiful. The owner and the manager were there during my stay and allowed me to use their office computer when I had to search for flights home. We finished our trip here but had to cross into Malawi and fly home due to air travel curtailment. But I highly recommend Marula Lodge, especially at the end of the green or Emerald season (wet), as the rains were over.

What can I say about this lodge that hasn't already been said. This has to be one of the best value for money lodges we have ever stayed at. We stayed for two weeks, yes not a typo, two weeks following a week in Kafue national park. The owners are wonderful and always near by to lend s helping hand. Good was simple, yet plentiful and the rooms whilst not luxurious were clean, had great beds, plenty of hot water and air conditioning. In my view all the things that make a difference. Elephants sleeping outside your room, hippos walking by at night, plenty of cheeky monkeys and a family of buck grazing a shirt distance away are just some of the daily delights that come to you, not withstanding the elephants who stroll the grounds after crossing the river. This is before we even got into the game trucks. SL truly is something else. It's raw, wild and it is so wonderful to see do few others whilst there, it remains exclusive. Leopard sightings were numerous as were the lions. We got to the point when we were trying to spot a wildebeest..😂

Arriving at Marula lodge in January, which is supposed to be out of season, we still saw over thirty different species of mammals and reptiles, including Leopards with cubs. Not to mention about 60 different species of birds. The staff are so friendly, and our guide, Dave, was really knowledgeable; often throwing in obscure facts. My wife and I are really interested in all forms of wildlife, so it was great to have a guide that also shared our wide ranging interest, and was prepared to stop for frequent photos. Being out of season, we were often the only passengers on the drives. Would love to return one day.
