#2 of 5 Specialty lodging in Skeleton Coast National Park
The lodge is located in the famous Skeleton Coast Central Concession between the Hoarusib and Hoanib Rivers in the Skeleton Coast Park, only 45 km north of Mowe Bay. The lodge is situated on the southern bank of the Huarusib River Mouth, nestled between the dunes with a view of the Atlantic Ocean where the cold Benguela current pushes a refreshing breeze over the shipwreck shaped cabins. Self-Drive Clients Clients will enter the Skeleton Coast National Park and will be driving along a gravel road towards Möwe Bay. This is where the client’s pick-up will take please. Please note: The roads are gravel roads and are subject to the weather and wind that might affect the road conditions. Therefore, self-drive clients are advised to drive a high clearance and 4x4 vehicle, especially between Terrace Bay and Möwe Bay. The last cellphone signal for communication and petrol station will be in Terrace Bay.

Response from JourneysNamibia, Manager at Shipwreck Lodge
Responded 6 days ago
We are very sorry that you were not able to visit Shipwreck Lodge. We would have loved to host you at this unique and remote location. The road up to Mowe Bay is a standard Namibian gravel road in reasonable condition. Gravel roads in Namibia can be unpredictable and road conditions do change depending on the amount of vehicles traveling on the road. The reservations team has advised on a proximate traveling time to Mowe Bay from your previous destination. We have not received complaints from other guests regarding the road condition. Nor from our suppliers who make use of the road on a weekly basis. We can confirm that the lodge manager made use of the road the next day to check on the condition and confirmed that you can comfortably drive at a speed of 60 to 80 km/h.

Property's Favorite Review
Shipwreck had received a lot of publicity. Nothing really prepares you. It has taken over 10 years for this project to reach fruition. The design and implementation is suitably "eco", given the location is on a sand dune 40km from the nearest road in a totally raw environment.
