We decided to do a father and son get away to Mozambique, we were 14 travellers, the lads ranged from 11 years to 24 years. Our flight took 1.5 hours from OR Tambo to vilanculos, We were greeted by two friendly drivers from the lodge ( Charles was our driver ) who transported us in an air conditioned mini bus,...

I'm so glad my sister and her now husband decided to have their wedding at Rio Azul! Not only is the location spectacular but Reon and Michele could not have been better hosts. They truly went the extra mile to make sure that all 33 guests received individual attention and that the couple-to-be had their dream wedding. The rooms are...

We discovered Rio Azul on the Internet and decided to try it in December 2012- What a surprise. On arrival the entire staff line up to welcome you and show you around the property and introduce you to the staff. The bedrooms and bathrooms are magnificent and on a par with most hotels in Mozambique. The "Tinnies" supplied to each room...

Our trip to Rio Azul in Jan 2013 was a change from our usual family holiday and we didn't know what to expect. We were more than pleasantly surprised and discovered an African Paradise that is not as well known as it should be. The location is absolutely stunning amd the sunsets incredible. It is a very remote location and...

If you want to get away from city life- be that Johannesburg, London or New York- you would find it difficult to find a more secluded and peaceful location than Rio Azul Lodge. From Vilanculos it is a 2 hour drive to Rio Azul Lodge- almost an hour of the drive is on the beach. When you finally arrive at...

That was a new experience which we enjoyed..stopping along the way to take scenic photo's. We were warmly welcomed at the resort by all. Our room was a good size with bathroom facilities behind...

Rio Azul has to be the best holiday destination I've ever been to! The lodge is stunning with beautiful rooms and an amazing central bar with a view over the estuary. The beaches which stretch on and on are completely un-developed. I didn't think places like this still existed. A boat trip up the estuary allowed us some rare bird...

The lodge has 2 large family bungalows which have 3 double bedrooms and an mezzanine for kids, lounge, private deck and own pool. We stayed in one of the bungalows for 4 nights and this was the perfect way of being quiet and wind down from the stress of work. Even better the lodge has two staff that are dedicated...
