Mayoka village is an intimate travelers lodge offering individual chalets dotted on a green hillside right on the waters edge. We have camping and dormitories for the budget traveler and lovely en-suite cottages for the mid range market. We have a spacious, friendly and comfortable restaurant and bar area perfect for socializing and relaxing. We grow all our own food in our organic garden and cook excellent food fresh for each order. We offer free snorkeling, canoes, boat trips, wifi and tea and biscuits at 4pm. We collect guests from the bus station and ferries for free Nd love to upgrade people if there is space.

A place can have a very nice setting, but if the service is bad, and personally directed, then the whole experience gets tainted negatively. We’re from a Scandinavian country, and I witnessed how the female staff treated my girlfriend differently, in a passive aggressive manor.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our way through Malawi- was really disappointed with the whole place. Bedrooms felt really dirty- we stayed in a dorm and a private room. The dorm was filthy- beds were covered in bugs. Double room wasn’t much better. Rats ran around the restaurant

Thank you Lymon, Gift & Stan the Plan. Though a wee bit pricier than typical Malawi, for accom & food, Mayoka's a grand broad amphitheatre of a place, atmospheric steep terraces down to Nyasa; and I was upgraded from dorm to beachfront rondavel. Ah, that open-plan bar /

Stayed 2 nights and had a good time, went kayaking on the lake which was free from the hotel. Rooms are cosy and of great quality. Only reason to not give 5 stars is that staff is very slow and food is not very accommodating to vegans.

Hi there, I'm looking for advice on private transport options to and from Mayoka Village from Lilongwe. Does anyone know of a good provider?

"Stay in the ensuite rooms higher up!"
"as long as you don't mind the climb go for one higher up"
"Chalet 5 is very spacious with a lovely bay window"
"All have great views, but some are up higher and require walking a lot of stairs to reach the water."
"If you're with a significant other, there are private rooms right on the water and you can hear the waves crashing all night!"
