Whilst living on Nosy Komba for one month, it was nice to go to Ambatolouka and stay at this hotel for a change. Great service, the staff were very nice to me. Although on New Year's Eve, our room got flooded with toilet water, it was disgusting, and it smelled terribly. My friends and I went to the reception to request for room service to clean the room out, but the staff were already gone. So, I requested another room for us, and they gave us 2 rooms for free since we were four people. However, it was a nice experience overall. Great live music at the bar for New Year. The shower was a little different, it was literally in the room, no door, not even curtains. I didn't have a problem with that, it was a great experience for me and my friends.

Good location Helpful staff (except one rude woman behind the bar) Nice room except no door to the toilet Good beach view That's all the good stuff which was completely overshadowed by aging French gentlemen who elicited favours from young Malagasy girls who in confusion could accidentally knock on your door by mistake. The overt attitude of the owner presumably a French National himself contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. Whilst having breakfast the last thing you want to see is the worlds oldest profession being carried out in front of you.

Whilst volunteering on a neighbouring island, I spent most weekends at this hotel. Amazing location, stunning beach and the rooms are spacious and with AC and hot water for such a good price, can't recommend it enough.

Room had a damp smell and the bathroom had a window where the locals could walk by and actually look in on you. We only stayed here as we were absolutely exhausted from flying and it was late at night. 40 euros for the room too, I felt like I needed to ask for my pants back. We left the next morning 7am.

The Hotel is right at the beach in the centre of the village. There were different room rates from 30 to 80 € but only the rooms over 55 € (discounted) were acceptable. If they give you a discount you better insist on a written offer since I had problems when I checked out ‘cos they charged me the official rate and I only got away when I found after long searching a written note with the agreed discount in my luggage. There is a bar (not cheap) on the premises and a restaurant but you’re better of eating in the many restaurants next to the hotel. Clients were mostly package tourists from Italy who probably never see the real Madagascar. Avoid the hotel at weekends since there was a beach discotheque next door and they were pretty loud until 5 am. Nosy Be is a matter of taste – it’s not the real Madagascar.
