We (family with 1 daughter aged 11) had a great holiday at the sun beach hotel last February. Hotel service was good. Staff were very friendly and dedicated. I particularly want to mention Omar Jallo from the animation and Babucarr Barry from the hotel bar. They made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel is located on the beach. Lovely to lie there on a beach bed. The hotel food was good. Had a great week. We will come back again for sure.

We stayed in February and were lucky to be put in block 2, having booked with the Gambia Experience we were told last year that their clients always had the best rooms in the hotel. However this year some of the Gambia Experience customers were not as lucky and were put in rooms that weren't quite as good as ours. Some guests were even put in an adjoining hotel for a few nights as the hotel was fully booked and there weren't enough rooms available. The rooms are clean and basic and any problems you have with the rooms are quickly rectified if you see your rep. The food is still good with plenty of choice for all tastes. I don't think the restaurant service was quite as good though as sometimes we were waiting quite a while for our drinks orders to be taken, this was probably due to the fact that the hotel was fully booked. Our main gripe was the poor service provided by the reception bar staff and the beach bar staff, the reception staff seemed incapable of taking an order of 4 coffees without getting it wrong each time, the beach staff were conspicuous by their absence. We were only asked twice in a week if we wanted to place an order for drinks. I went to the bar a minute before 10am and was told that the waitress would bring my water to me on the beach. The water never materialised and I had to get it myself. Strange as the waitress was serving the couple in front of me with water! The drinks are pretty appalling as well, we take our own gin to mix with the tonics and creme de cassis to mix in with the wine. The evening entertainment could be improved. It used to take place down near the beach bar with a proper stage but it has been moved up to the restaurant now. Hardly anyone danced whereas last year there were loads up dancing. There were a couple of nights of drum and dance groups and a couple of nights of a lady singing. It was over pretty quickly and nothing really happened after 10pm. Despite our gripes we had a good time and most of the staff are friendly (the female staff aren't as friendly and a little subdued). They work hard and do their best to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. We hope to return next year for lots of hot weather and smiles!

This is the second time I have been to this hotel. Lovely hotel, However I wanted a adult only hotel and they have just started introducing families, so I don't think I will go back again. I like a peaceful holiday and don't want to cope with the noise of other peoples children. However the hotel has a good name and is clean and the food is great. The hotel recommends that you change your money at the hotel, but the exchange rate is low. It is quite safe to change your money out side the hotel at Mr Fix it and you get a good rate. The service in the evening is not so good when the restaurant manager is not present. The waiters tend to be wearing blinkers and cannot see you, also the tables are never cleared and people are often looking for clean tables. When the manager turns up, then it all changes, however I only saw him twice over a 14 day visit. The Gambian people are very friendly and I had no problems with honesty and felt very safe when I went out during the day and night. I did not have any problem with the food out side the hotel and my stomach did not complain. There are a few wild dogs there , however they are friendly and health wise don't look to bad. I did meet a lad on the beach out side the hotel who had a 5 month old dog as a pet, He loved the dog, but did not really understand how to care for it. The dogs name was Lucy. I brought some cans of dog food for him as poor old Lucy did look a bit thin. So if any one sees Lucy, please help by getting the dog some food. Do not give money to the owner as it might not be spent on the dog.

Arrived on Tuesday with Gambia Experience. It is only Saturday but have already booked for Christmas and New Year. It is our kind of place and have been asking ourselves why we have not come before. The staff are excellent and will help you in every way they can. The food is also first class. The best Apple crumble and custard. The fish is very tasty. We did bring our own travel kettle to make our own drinks before surfacing into the dining room for breakfast but it is no issue. We are in room 208 with a room facing the Atlantic and it is wonderful to hear the waves. I will update the as the holiday progresses.
