The c.1830 Inn is set on an acre of lawn and gardens, shaded by ancient sugar maples, in a peaceful, rural setting in the New York Hudson River Valley. It is close to the cultural attractions of the Berkshires, such as Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA. Down hill and cross country skiing, snow shoeing, boating, hiking, biking and an aerial forest adventure park are all a short drive from the inn. It is the perfect Berkshires B&B for a romantic getaway.

We stayed for a long Groundhog Day weekend in the Thorsden Room and just loved it. A bit about the room: after a long hallway, it opens into a large main room with a king sized bed, reading chairs near a gas fireplace, and a bathroom with a large tub. Very comfortable. After an easy drive out of the city, we were met in the later afternoon by Deborah. She had already asked us over email about dinner reservations, so after settling in and resting a bit from the journey, we were off to what turned out to be a great dinner. Not to be outdone were the pair of breakfasts that she made for us during out 2-night stay - one savory, one sweet, both delicious. Between Deborah's hospitality, the charm of the Inn itself, and the beautiful surroundings of the Berkshires and eastern New York state, we had a very lovely weekend that we look to repeat during sometime soon during the warmer months. It will be lovely to see how the landscape transforms from the winter browns to the verdant greens of the summer. All in all, we felt well cared for and very much enjoyed our time here.

Immaculate, ancient, over a hundred years old, Deborah has been running the place for over 30 years, creaking knotted pine floors , comfortable beds, a really wonderful queen anne overstuffed chair. we stayed in the General Knox room, spacious. Had an extra room with single bed. the tchotchkes , the bedside table lamps made in china, with red pekingese dogs on em, the pictures, drawings, boxes, everything spot on . 2 course breakfasts , one day a frittata, another home made yogurt with granola almonds and pistachios as the first course, pancakes with fresh blueberry compote, good coffee with real cream, pewter spoons. Kathy serves breakfast, including Grannie Frannie's fruit preserves. Out back is a 150+ year old cemetery with obelisk headstones, private, perfect for a zombie party. downstairs are a lot of books, great books. Coffee table books with pictures of the berkshires. The first day at breakfast, I read some poems from a william carlos williams collection, the next day I started an old crime novel, Anatomy of a Murder, by Traver, 1958 best seller, I only got through the first 50 pages during our stay, was made into a movie the following year, with jimmy stewart, george c. scott, lee remick and ben gazzarra. 7 academy award nominations. We were attending a wedding, preceding dinner, post wedding brunch for an old friend. Saturday we attended the 30th annual Falcon Ridge folk festival at Dodd's Farm in Hillsdale with 3 music venues, a dance venue and dozens of performers including the Slambovian Circus of Dreams. If you want to know where all the hippies from the 70's have gone to, its Falcon Ridge folk festival. Sunday we went to Tanglewood, 20-30 minutes away to see Yefim Bronfman and the Boston symphony orchestra perform Rachmaninov piano concerto #3. Phenomenal. Deborah gave us explicit directions what roads to take, where to park , how to exit, viewpoints nearby. On concert day, ticket prices on chairs in "THE SHED" are $22, a steal. The best recommendation of Inn at Green Rivers was that most of the other guests had been coming to the inn for more than 15 years and still like it. You don't see that every day

Dear costamesawanderer - Thank you so much for writing such a detailed review about the Inn and its environs, and all the wonderful things you saw and did in addition to the wedding, which was the reason you traveled to Hillsdale! I am sure you agree another trip is in order, because you just scratched the surface of this Berkshire/Columbia County region. And you got me started reading "Anatomy of a Murder"!!! Hope to see you back at the inn another time.

Exactly What a Bed & Breakfast Should Be This is a cozy inn, snuggled into the corner of a country road. Our room was thoughtfully decorated; the bed was comfortable. There were delicious homemade cookies to greet us - and the great baking and cooking continued on into the morning for a tasty, relaxed breakfast. Deborah is a knowledgeable, caring host - covers all the bases of what you might need at the inn or want to know about the surrounding area. We really appreciated that she stayed up to take the leftover food from our evening dinner to refrigerate it overnight. Attentive, not intrusive, care.

We so enjoyed Memorial Day weekend at the Inn at Green River. The breakfasts were amazing, definitely among the best we've had in our many B&B stays throughout the country. Everything was made from scratch and so delicious! Our room was huge, super clean, quiet and we slept very well both nights. Added bonus - the A/C was quiet and did the job perfectly. Deborah gave us great advice about where to bicycle and other things to do in and around Hillsdale. She is extremely thoughtful, obviously a true pro - and her 30 years of experience make it all seem effortless. We will return soon!
