RV campground located on a 65 acre island accessible by a causeway from Henderson, NY. We are located on the eastern edge of Lake Ontario and have a Marina, RV sites, Tent camping sites and Cabins. The remoteness of the island makes the location a relaxing getaway, while being within 2 hours of Rochester, Syracuse, and Ottawa. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets, and the sound of the water. Relive childhood memories as you sit by your campfire. Rent our Pontoon Boat, Fishing boats and kayaks. Enjoy the Lake!

Power issues on the 4th forced us to leave. The staff and management was responsive to the problem but just could not remedy the issue(s). We were able to get a full refund since we were only there for a few hours. Luckily we did leave because we found out later from other reviewers that the power was out for over 13hrs and then water was out also. It would have been such a great place to camp but were weren't ready for boondocking!

Thank you for your review. While we are still investigating the cause of outage, I take responsibility of not prioritizing the backup generator this season. We have learned from this experience, and are making changes, both to infrastructure, and to our communications. I hope you will give us a second chance in the future. John Shim, Association Island.

Great, unique KOA. Island has an interesting history. Campground staff are great – super friendly. Views of Lake Ontario are unbelievable. WiFi was strong the whole time. A little "buggy" in the evenings. Getting to the campground goes through a neighborhood where the local residents clearly want people to drive slowly and respectfully – we were happy to concur, I hope you do too.

What a mess. I will never go back there again. They charge an arm and a leg for every little thing but cannot provide water and electricity? And then they lie to the campers and tell them that they called the national grid, but little did we know they waited until the next day to call. Meanwhile, our food is thawing, there are no bathrooms to use and obviously no air conditioning. This is 4th of July weekend. A weekend that they knew was going to be busy but didnt bothet to plan ahead and fix the obvious electrical issues they had been having. The workers are rude, especially Angie in the office who would rather ignore the problem than address it. Roger who was EXTREMELY rude to a friend of ours who is a Vietnam vet and was treated like a common criminal just because he waved a canadian flag on his boat. And the rest of the staff who made it a point to tell us that none of this was their fault but couldn't provide us with any other information. I get it, stuff happens, but as a business it was handled in all the wrong ways. Their customer service sucks and so does their island. Before they come back with a snarky comment about finding a better site with a view and blah blah blah, I already have and will enjoy spending my money somewhere else. It's only fair to warn unsuspecting guests what they are in for.

Erica, Thank you for taking the time giving us your perspective. As in all things, there are different sides to each issue. In regards to not having electrical backup for our water treatment plant, I will accept that blame and criticism. We did put the generator backup on our list for 2019, but it was not the top of the priority. I will take responsibility and accept the bad reviews and comments. Association Island learned from that mistake, and will do better in the future. Regarding the staff, I will defend them. It was a very difficult situation, but they acted professional, and tried their best during the circumstance. Where I will push back is the criticisms we are getting from campers who have been on the island in the past. We admit prior to 2018, we had a very small number of staff, and enforcement of guest fee's , pet fee's, marina slips, etc was haphazard at best. Many of our campers seemed to take advantage of that prior situation, and we had many on the Island who were not paying guests. Since 2018, we have doubled our staffing, increased our budget for maintenance, and we are going through the process of renovation, and correcting deferred maintenance issues. We are far from finished in all our changes, but most can see the improvements being made. Guests who came on the island by boat, like all visitors, should have expected to be charged visitors fee's, and marina slip fee's. Our staff must deal with those kind of issues daily from campers who remember the "good old days" where we had a smaller staff who could not, or would not collect such fee's. As far as the rumor that we knew about an electrical issue is just not true. Rumors that National Grid was never contacted is just not true. Anyone who has come onto Association Island knows this a beautiful place. We still have improvements to make, and will continuously strive to make the Island better. We will accept blame for not having a good generator backup system for the water treatment plant. We will also defend the actions of our Great Staff. We welcome anyone, American, Canadian, or any Nationality, who want to reserve a space for themselves. I know Roger would never denigrate a guest in the manner you describe. Have a good day. There has been no power or water to our campsite in over 13 hours. When I attempt to call the office the phone rings twice, then disconnects. In speaking with other campers their power has been on and off since yesterday as well. It seems like they don't have the capacity to provide water and power when the island is fully booked. IMO, they should limit capacity so that power and water isn't an issue since we're paying for those services!

Thank you for taking the time write a review. I accept responsibility for not having a working backup generator for the water treatment plant. It was not prioritized. We will take a hit, both reputation wise, and financially. An expensive lesson, but it gives us the opportunity to make improvements to our processes, and infrastructure. Sorry. We opted for the harbor side lake front site-traveling with a travel trailer, we were informed up front that the sites were originally designed for motor homes, so the water/electric would need additional hookups since they would be on our opposite side. the site was beautiful, with a cement pad for the fire pit and picnic table and shade. We had plenty of water hose and electric line to make our connections. Sewer was never an issue. Our site was not level, however, and we had to use every leveler we had, which made for interesting entry and exit from the trailer. But, a minor inconvenience considering how lovely it was. Why do campsites always need to be adjusted on the entry side of the trailer? As much attention that is paid to the grounds, the eastern laundry, bathrooms and rec room were stuffy because the windows were never opened and were loaded between the window and screen with spiders and bugs. The interiors were immaculate though. In spite of this buggy issue, we absolutely loved it here and expect to be back next September. The staff was courteous and friendly; most helpful. We have bragged up this park to friends and family since we returned home.

Thank you for your kind review! We will be making changes to the hookup for the waterfront sites to make it easier for towables during the off season. We will consider your comments, and double our housekeeping efforts. It is a never ending battle against the bugs of nature.
