We were in a bind -- we had sold our house in Southampton and the new house wasn't ready as yet -- and it was August during Covid so there were no rentals to be had unless you wanted to pay $50,000! A friend had stayed at Colonial Shores many times and so I called. We needed a month -- from August 18th - September 15th. We were lucky to get a lovely efficiency close to the bay. BUT beyond all this is Mia and the rest of the staff. From the moment we arrived -- with lots of stuff -- everything was handled with such warmth and willingness to help that it was overwhelming. Mia immediately gives you her cell phone and you can literally call at anytime. I had a problem getting my printer to work -- Ed came at least twice and spent a lot of time getting it to work. Needed quarters for the laundry -- no problem -- the staff person went down to the machine, emptied it and delivered quarters to me. And when we left Mia personally carried our luggage to the car. The place is immaculate and well situated for the bay, the ocean, supermarkets and many restaurants. We particularly liked the full size refrigerator as don't forget this was during Covid and we did a lot of take-out. The view from the patio over the bay is lovely and restful. The large lawn with picnic tables and barbecues is inviting and useful. I can't say enough -- although we may not be going back as we are in our own home in Southampton, I highly recommend Colonial Shores to anyone and everyone.…
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with much hospitality. The room was just like the picture from the internet. But much lovelier in person. The dock and picnic area is very nice, with fire pits at night and BBQ and picnic tables. Perfect place for a vacation. The room immaculate with fine touches. Very happy with our stay and would highly recommend staying here.
We weren't sure whether to believe all the wonderful reviews here but they were absolutely on point. The location is perfect -- super easy to get to from NYC or anywhere, really, but tucked away down a residential road so it really feels like you're getting away. The property is on a little marina/bay with a line of bungalows going down toward the water, plus a motel facing the pool. We stayed in one of the bungalows (#4), a one-bedroom with a full kitchen and pull-out sofa in the LR. It was attached to another unit (like a duplex) -- perhaps the only drawback since the walls felt very thin and sound traveled, plus you share the front balcony with your neighbor and, surprisingly, smoking is allowed outside. Next time I'd spring for a single cottage or share with friends/family! The unit itself was immaculate, absolutely no issues with dust or grime. Everything seems to have been updated recently; I don't think the pictures do the interiors justice. Kind of nondescript decor and furnishings -- but what it lacks in character it makes up for in cleanliness. Nice full-size refrigerator, dishes, coffee marker, toaster, microwave -- everything pristine. The bed was OK with lots of comfy pillows and a washable quilt. Out back, everyone has their own picnic table and charcoal grill (tools available in the kitchen) on a large, beautifully maintained lawn. Each unit gets its own parking spot right next to the cottage, which is nice. The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped and they do a great job with maintenance. The pool is small (4.5 ft deep max, I think) but sparkling clean, lots of well-spaced lounge chairs and tables. Down at the marina, there's a basketball court, two fire pits, tables and loungers, and I assume boats you can rent or hire (we didn't get much info on this). Just a lovely relaxing view. There's also a small playset with swings and a slide. There were kids there (including ours) and we saw some party groups but the overall vibe is very relaxed, civilized and quiet. In the area, you're within a 5 - 20 minute drive of anything you'd want for a vacation -- a big Stop and Shop, organic foods market, bagel place, liquor store, etc. We particularly enjoyed Hampton Gyro and Grill for take-out (lots of veg options) and Krieg's Bakery, a little shop with incredible breakfast treats, cakes and cookies, as well as Francesca's for decent pizza/pasta options. Rumba restaurant and other waterfront dining options are very close, as are Meschutt and Ponquogue beaches -- both beautiful. About a half hour away is the wonderful Parrish Art Museum, plus wineries and farmstands. We live in the city and prefer walking places but this area is definitely more for cars -- we did see people biking but there are no sidewalks and some narrow curvy roads. A note on COVID: The managers clearly took great care to keep the place spotless so we had zero concerns about the virus. The kind woman who checked us in kept her distance and wore a mask; pretty much everyone on the property did, even walking around the grounds. The seats were spaced out with tape at the pool and there were sanitizer bottles available; the housekeeper (a lovely person) was always masked, very efficient and thorough. We look forward to a return visit!…
We stayed for the first time at one of the 1BR suite over LDW and it turned out to be fantastic! Mia and Dina are very accomodating throughout our stay. Very peaceful place with the bay view when you can catch sunrise and sunset at the same time. Within 15 to 20mins drive to West Hampton and Southampton. The Hampton Bays mini downtown is very charming as well. Would totally recommend this place if you are looking to get away for a weekend or a week! We ended up booked another week stay for July 2021. PS. I left my 2 cloth masks and called Mia and she found it and will mail it to me! That's what we call a true service!
The staff along with the guests made you feel like it was your own home. Every one was so helpful with suggestions of where to go and what to see. The rooms were very clean as well as the entire property. The guests we spoke with have been coming here for years. This was our first time but we made our next years reservation right away so we don’t miss the opportunity to return.
