My wife and I had a wonderful two-night stay in July in the Curtiss Room. Our room was a nice size with several large windows. The property is wonderful, with a lovely outdoor patio and gazebo space. Simon and Miranda were excellent hosts, who provided a fantastic breakfast and lots of information about the area. The breakfast was fantastic as Miranda is an amazing baker. We opted to have a massage in the Inn's spa and that definitely helped after biking on our first day. We found the Inn was conveniently located near a number of nice hiking spots. Downtown Hammondsport was just a very short drive (easily bikeable), with several options for dinner.
Stayed at the Inn for 2 nights and cannot rate it highly enough. Great hospitality from start to finish and our room was excellent. Lovely touches throughout. The breakfast was top class and an experience itself served outside. Simon and Miranda were wonderful hosts and could not have been more helpful. The area itself is a delight for wine lovers and nature lovers. The Curtiss Museum that is in town was well worth a visit - it was fascinating.
Another wonderful experience! We joined together to celebrate Marcos' Big 5-0 and Miranda and Simon made the experience even more wonderful -- including a delicious candle-topped birthday muffin on the big day. This was my and Marcos' second time there and we loved it even more. The new gazebo in the back is a must-see! So bring a bottle of wine or champagne and go relax out there! We will certainly be back to the Black Sheep Inn & Spa! (As a side note, they offer very generous return customer discounts.)
We have been staying at B&B’s for over 25 years of vacationing. This is the place! We were warmly greeted by Simon upon our arrival to this cozy, peaceful, lovely inn. The Curtiss room provided a very comfortable bed and the most wonderful spa robes. We loved the “game room” and the outdoor spaces. For every question we had, Simon had a recommendation that was perfect. And then there was breakfast. If you are vegan this is your new favorite place. If you are not vegan-SAME! Miranda has created a breakfast menu that is award winning. This is the ultimate experience in relaxation and pampering. Make no mistake, this inn is no black sheep, truly should be named The GOLDEN Goose.
When we decided to do a wine run to the Keuka Lake area we looked into several places to stay. We opted to stay at the Black Sheep Inn largely because it was centrally located. When we arrived we were shown around the house and grounds by Simon. Simon made it very clear that his job was to see that our stay was an enjoyable one. The house is delightful and our room was very comfortable. We met Miranda at breakfast the next morning and her breakfast is a great way to start any day. We could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Black Sheep Inn and we will recommend the Inn to our friends.
The hosts Simon and Miranda we're exceedingly gracious and made our stay very enjoyable. The room was large and comfortable with a cold bottle of local champagne and chocolates set out upon arrival. My wife and I are not regular breakfast eaters and didn't know that the food was entirely vegan. That said we very much enjoyed what was offered and our compliments to Miranda and her efforts. When back in the Finger Lakes area we would definitely consider staying again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Black Sheep Inn & Spa. Simon and Miranda are wonderful hosts that work hard to ensure their guests are well looked after. They were very accommodating and accessible while also respecting guests' privacy and giving us lots of space to relax and unwind. Simon is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do (and a lot of fun to chat with)! Miranda's breakfasts were amazing! We are not vegans but I will say that we are ready to give it a try after sampling her freshly made creations. From her gingerbread granola to double chocolate breakfast muffins, we were never disappointed. And that is just the starter! Full English breakfast in vegan form I never thought could be done but it was terrific. My carnivore husband really enjoyed it. We highly recommend checking out the Black Sheep Inn and Spa located on the outskirts of the lovely town of Hammondsport in a quiet and peaceful location. You won't be disappointed!…
My husband and I just returned from several days in the Finger Lakes region. The Black Sheep Inn appealed to us because it seemed very unique not only in it's physical beauty, but in a chance to have a vegan breakfast every day. We were also encouraged by comments here on TA regarding the wonderfully friendly and welcoming Miranda and Simon. We really appreciated how nice they have made their establishment and the obvious thought and effort they have put into every detail. Yet, you feel unrushed and truly comfortable there. Simon is a font of knowledge of the local area and we came to rely on his recommendations. Miranda opened our eyes to veganism and we enjoyed plentiful, delicious breakfasts both on the outdoor patio and in the Inn's large dining room. She also makes wonderful granola which we bought to bring home. There are several nooks and crannies both indoors and out where you can relax and enjoy your tablet or a good book. There is coffee and tea and cookies available to help yourself on both floors. The bed was fabulous (we had the Youngslove Room) along with a spacious bathroom that had Neil's Yard toiletries from London. The owner's make every effort on your behalf so you feel pampered during your stay. The signature robes are soft and there is welcoming champagne as well as chocolate treats in your room for when you arrive. The Inn is a short 5 min drive from town and the lake, but is very quiet and restful. By all means, come to the Black Sheep In for a restorative, cosseting experience with lovely hosts.…
We are repeat customers and absolutely love this charming B and B in the Keuka Finger Lake wine country. Miranda and Simon are top rate hosts. Miranda is a fabulous cook and Simon is highly entertaining and affable. Rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable. Highly recommend!
My husband and I just returned from our second stay at the Black Sheep Inn and Spa and we are so happy. We are already thinking about how we can go again soon! The house is spectacular, clean, comfortable and provides an old world charm you don’t find often. We stayed this time in the Pleasant Valley Room upstairs and it is a great size, with a King sized bed and you get the view of the courtyard. Miranda’s breakfast every morning was as delicious as we remembered it and her muffins she makes are to die for! You get so much food you are stuffed in a good way. Miranda was also very accommodating of my Husband’s allergies. Last time we didn’t get to try the granola because my husband is allergic to nuts which included coconut milk. This time well in advance I reached out to Miranda about the possibility of making it so he could have it and she did. It was phenomenal and we loved every bite! We also celebrated my husband’s 40th and I requested Miranda to bake a cake. The cake was moist, tasty and never would have imagined it was vegan. Simon’s hospitality each morning he would come with a smile and share stories, you just would always want to hear more! I cannot express how much we loved our stay. Miranda and Simon treated us like family and just were delightful in every way. We also requested an excursion to the local wineries. Simon asked what we liked what we didn’t and organized a day of great tastings and safety in driving us around for the afternoon. We recommend the Black Sheep Inn to anyone who wants to get away and just rest, or go for a hike, or try some great local wines. Not sure what you want to do, Simon and Miranda are always an email away to help coordinate your stay beforehand or just a text/phone call away to assist when you are there.…
