Thought the location was perfect; close to Greenport as well as wineries. It was fine for an overnight trip, but our room of two queen beds had no closets & 1 drawer. No counter peace in bathroom for anything. It was only my daughter & I so no big deal, but a family of 4 for a few nights i don't think so. Employees seemed nice in lobby and by lounge area. it is a glorified motel, but comfortable. I paid for a room with no refund then got an email 1 week prior notifying us that there is construction going on the main road which of course is right in front so we were waken up to jack hammers at 7:30. We did hear the cars on the road all night & this is November, I cant imagine what it is like in the summer time. For 1 night it was fine, but I wouldn't stay here again for a longer stay.

Noise from the car "thunking" over seams in cement highway right outside our door 24/7. If you're a NASCAR or Formula 1 fan, then maybe the sound of lapping waves and lapping car tires will appeal to you. It was too much for us. This is a "motor lodge," with fancy paneling in the rooms, nothing more. Some other deficiencies: only one reading light (tiny lamps by side of bed are not reading lights), there is no light over the wet bar (so good luck using it at night) or sofa, the molding and vents around the balcony are distressed and unsightly, you can walk the beach toward the hotel restaurant, but once you get there there's no way to access to restaurant (you have to walk the entire length of the beach -- a couple of hundred yards -- to get back to parking lot and then walk that distance again), one front desk clerk very cold and unfriendly. One positive note is that the shower is good. Overall, this is overpriced and not a restful experience. If you come, bring ear plugs or a sound machine.

This is a motel with a nice view - not a hotel. It is RIGHT off the road. So you are hearing traffic pass by all day/night pretty loudly. The room is small and very simple. It felt a little cold/impersonal to me, there are not many amenities in the room. You need to request an iron, the rooms don't come with one. The coffee maker cord didn't actually reach any of the outlets, we had to manuever it to manage plugging it in. Also, the floors were definitely not cleaned prior to our stay, the table on our patio had crumbs all over it. The view from room is BEAUTIFUL. The fire pits and chairs are great.

If you enjoy the sound of cars driving by from about 30 feet away all night then this is the place for you. But if like sleeping past 530am, and want a room that doesnt cost 300 a night for the pleasure of insects and zero space, dont stay here. I honestly cant believe this is a serious room / hotel. This is the first one star review ive ever written. Had to be done. We made it one night out of four and will literally be paying 900 dollars not to stay here another second. Id pay twice as much to never sleep here again.

We were delighted with the outside view of beach and water with a spacious deck right outside our studio. It was so nice relaxing on the beach in the sun. The rooms interior was attractive and comfortable and the Sound View's location is close to the shopping and dining area in Greenport.
