I decided to take my husband away for the night for his 40th birthday. I was so excited to stay here as the photos on the website made the rooms look super luxe and clean. The stay was nice and there were high points. Let me begin by saying the room was simple but the furnishings were nice. The room was comfortable. The toiletries were so nice that I didn't have to unpack mine. The ladies who worked at the front desk were super nice. One of our favorite parts was the picnic breakfast they leave at your door in the morning.

Now for the not so great. The curtains covering the windows were clearly missing as well as some wall hangings as was evident from the hooks still hanging in the wall. Our room was also above the bar which played very loud music until late at night. The most disappointing part was the shower though, it not only took forever to get barely hot enough to shower, it was also filthy, there was mold lining all the silicone surrounding the shower and truly made me question if the rest of the place had even been cleaned. Paying $400 a night for a hotel I SHOULD not feel grossed out in the shower.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Decorated so nicely and edgy! The complimentary rosé was a nice touch, as well as the awesome picnic basket breakfast! We will be returning again and will see what the warmer weather adds to the experience when the restaurant is open as well. The courtyard looked so great, can’t wait to come back.

We ate at their outdoor restaurant. Since we had no reservation, we had to place our order at the bar. The staff was very nice. The host made sure we would get our seating area as we ordered. We got the oyster appetizer, I got the mussels with the potato side, and my gf got the burger. Everything was delicious, especially the burger. The only negative was that the pillows were a bit dirty from being outside and there were mosquitos for a little bit. But other then that it was a cute vibe.

Never having visited the area I was nervous about arriving after the reception area would be closed but the self check-in mailbox was accessible and only took 5 minutes to find. The only check in struggle was finding the tiny room sign that indicates the entrance to room 6/7. I can't speak for the other rooms, but room 7 was NOT worth the hotels weekend rate of $550 and standard weekday rate of $450. The max I would spend on this room would be $250 and it would be because of the location. I wrote a detailed review below but the overall summary: room 7 lacks basic standard amenities and needs a lot of maintenance repairs. The morning after my late evening check in I asked to speak with a manager to discuss multiple issues and was repeatedly told someone would be in touch, which you can clearly guess still hasn’t happened.

When you open the door to room 7, a wave of humidity literally smacks you in the face. The room has two forms of air conditioning- a window A/C unit and a ductless wall mounted unit- both had service lights on and neither functioned the way the space needed. The photos and description of the room on the website conveniently don’t show either. The lack of a functioning unit makes the room retain humidity and leaves the once luxurious Frette bed linens feeling damp, moist and sticky.

Another big disappointment was the lighting in the room. The light that surrounds the bathroom mirror was burnt out and the shower light was unfortunately insufficient to make up for that loss. We had to use flashlights to put make up on and get ready. The room itself also lacked proper central lighting and the side table reading lamps are a joke.

You won’t find any wardrobe space for storing folding clothes and you have to share a hanging wardrobe system with a shelf that houses the safe and an encroaching mini fridge. Since the hanging wardrobe is open and beside the fridge, heat radiates off the fridge and right up against anything you decide to hang. I was shocked when I realized the room didn’t even have a full length mirror. I had to go down to the hotel reception/shop combo to see how my outfit looked! Shorter ladies, the bathroom mirror only hits you from the shoulders up.

The sleeping situation was no better. The mattress is soft, has permanent bodily imprints and has 2 lumpy king pillows on each side. The canopy bed is of flimsy build, it actively creaks and then scratches the floors with the slightest movement. The blind that covers the street window does a horrible job of shielding the street lights and the morning sun from relentlessly staring you down while you try and sleep.

The only truly nice moment the hotel has is the picnic breakfast that comes to your door at 9 am. It had yogurt, granola, fruit, 2 fresh plain bagels and Coffee.

Room small. One whole flight of stairs up to the room. When you need ice they ask you bring ice bucket to the bar and carry the bucket back up to your room. No help getting to the room. We will not return to this hotel. We will come back to green port.

my wife and i stayed at this hotel this past August. We couldn't even sleep in the bed because the sheets and the Comforter were dirty. We spent a lot of money to stay there and we had to sleep on towels because it was so gross. the next morning when we went to check out i let the woman at the counter know that the room was very dirty and the next customer may not be as understanding as we were she basically told me whatever. i wasn't looking for anything from this hotel just to let them know about the lack of cleanliness of the room we stayed in. I was so upset that this woman didn't care i emailed the owners 3 times and to date i haven't even received a sorry for your inconvenience. I am a small business owner and if i ever treated my customers this way i would be out of business.

So if anyone wants to go to Greenport NY stay away from this place. over priced and dirty.

We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful experience at this lovely hotel. The staff were attentive and couldn't have been any nicer. Honestly after reading a few reviews prior to arriving we were a bit nervous. Our room was Beautiful, Super Clean, Comfortable King Sized Bed, two Comfy chairs and what looked like a Brand New Bathroom w/Large Shower. We were warned about noisy evenings but didn't have that at all. The 2 window air conditioners hummed us to sleep. Didn't even hear any noise from other rooms. A Really Nice Breakfast was delivered in a White Wicker Picnic Basket each morning filled with yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, OJ and coffee. During our stay the hotel supplied us with a Town Beach Pass which gave us access to the Town Beaches (which is a big plus). If you wanted to ride a bike they were there for the asking, the courtyard had many private sitting areas for hotel guests only. If you wanted a glass of rose wine, it was complementary each evening. Once again, if you would like a really nice get-a-way, the American Beech Hotel is a breath of fresh air.

American Beech restaurant offers terrific outdoor seating- whether under heated elements or inside your own Greenhouse like pod. Should you prefer you can dine indoors. We chose the pod and it was beautiful at night, and we felt so very COVID safe inside it. Now for the cuisine - amazingly delicious!!! We had a wonderful organic salad with farm fresh greens and a tasty dressing. For our entree we each had Cajun seasoned swordfish with fresh roasted fennel and carrots -so very delicious! This is my new favorite chef!

Stay away if you plan on getting any sleep. In addition, this hotel is deceptive in its advertising and relies on a policy you sign before you get there to not refund your money when you complain about not being able to sleep. DO NOT make a reservation here if you plan on getting to sleep before 3:00 am.

We made a reservation because this hotel was described as a luxury boutique hotel in a cute town called Greenport. The hotel is actually several nightclubs that happen to have some rooms.

We were in room 6. Below us was a bar that during the day you think is an empty storefront. Instead, it was a raucous bar with drunk people outside and the door opening a closing until 2:30 am. The walls actually shake when someone opens and closes the door. In addition, there is live music outside until 2 am. We couldn’t get to sleep until well after three am. The room was $850 per night.

We tried to check out early because we couldn’t take another night without sleep. The hotel would not refund our money stating that we signed a document stating that we wouldn’t be refunded if we checked out early. They also advised that the website states that the room is above a bar. It is one line that states where the room is located Nothing else. There is nothing on the website that states it is so loud you can’t sleep.

So we didn’t have any sleep for $850 a night and didn’t get a refund when we complained and checked out early.

Beware of the deceptive description of the property and beware of staying in the middle of a nightclub.

Sitting in our bedroom, just got off the phone with the manager “Kayla” because there is music blaring into our room. She told us there is nothing she can do for us, that we should have read that it is a “ lively “ hotel and it is noisy until 11 pm. Incredibly inept staff. Way too expensive for what it is. Kayla did say she gets many complaints about this, but we should have known. The General Manager Stephanie would not take our call and would not offer us anything in compensation in fact Kayla doubled down and said that all the rooms are extremely noisy until about 11pm, and it states this on the website…really? Never had this experience in a hotel, I’ve never written a review about a hotel, but I feel so strongly, that I hope people read this and don’t fall into the same trap we did.
