Couldn't have been a better experience. Went to Stirling House for my girlfriend's birthday. Had an excellent experience. The owner, Clay, is very friendly and accommodating. He makes exquisite breakfasts and baked goods. Had no problem catering to my girlfriend's gluten-free diet. The room itself was well-appointed with a nice view of the harbor. Parking on the street was ample and never had any issue. Everything in Greenport itself is walking distance -- this must be the best located B&B in the area. Tells you everything you need to know that after I inadvertently left a bottle of wine in the room after departing, Clay moved heaven and earth to get it to me. Can't thank him enough for his efforts! You're making a great choice choosing this B&B. Well-worth the money.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Sterling. We booked the first floor suite. It was quaint, clean and comfortable. The host Clay was wonderful. Every morning we were welcomed with the most delicious breakfast The inn was a great location. Right up the block from all the restaurants and boutiques. We had an amazing view of the bay. I would highly recommend staying at Sterling House!
We spent the weekend at The Stirling House in mid July -- and it was as lovely as ever! Clay is a fantastic host, and his breakfasts are amazing! Love that he always uses local fruit - the berries were fabulous! As the previous two reviewers have mentioned, The Stirling House is well set up for a relaxing but also socially distanced visit, and we felt totally comfortable while staying safe during these unique times. Highly recommend!!!
This was exactly what we needed. The Stirling House is a perfect place to get away from the craziness and be socially distant. The two nights were great. Clay our host and chef could not have been nicer. The 2 breakfasts that we had were amazing. The room was very nice and comfortable even during a tropical storm. There is a great little porch in the front of the house where you can relax and enjoy your breakfast that Clay prepares or you can order take out for lunch or dinner and sit on the porch and look out over the Peconic Bay. It is within walking distance of the town with many great restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this B & B. We will be back.
The house is beautiful and very clean. Clay was very conscientious about wearing a mask and keeping distance while simultaneously being very welcoming. He was the perfect "host" and conversational, friendly, and informative without hovering. With three total guest rooms and three separate option areas to eat breakfast, it is very conducive to social distancing. The porch stretches across the entire front of the house so we could relax in comfort, looking at the wonderful river view, and not worry about getting too close to anyone. Clay is an amazing cook and the breakfasts were outstanding. The common areas of the house are wonderfully decorated in a combination of antique and whimsy that was fun and relaxing. The bed in our room was very comfortable and the room was a good size, serenely decorated with local photos and paintings, and very clean. Lots of great restaurants, stores, and galleries in walking distance. We are already planning our next visit.…
