Detailed Reviews
We spent two nights in this quaint, historic inn that is on the Thames. There are walking paths along the Thames and a bridge over to the township of Staines where there is lots of shopping. There was even a family of wild Swans on the river outside the hotel. We had breakfast (included) and dinner at the hotel and the food was fabulous. They must have a creative chef and it was 2 of the best dinners we had on our 3 week trip. The stairs are narrow and the hallway is a bit slanted but this is a centuries old Inn. Our room even had the original coal (not working) fireplace with original tiles. Our room was small but the amenities were wonderful. A kurig with specialty teas and coffee, chocolates, bottled water and cookies. Also the best shower on our 3 week trip. There is a pub downstairs and it was frequented by local folks but the hotel was diligent that when 11pm came, everything was quiet. We loved staying here and will return anytime we are back. This is a wonderful place to stay if you enjpy historic Inns, and a great place for a nice dinner out of drinks on the river or in the pub. There is a lot of outside seating.

Stayed for a couple of nights with my husband, for service, location and pleasure of the stay I give it 6⭐ what a great place. We arrived around 9.30 and the kitchen was shut but they helped us find a takeaway that was still open . Provided us with plates and cutlery and brought them up to the room for us as we decided to eat in our room. The rooms are beautiful with lovely bathrooms, they are currently doing a refurb on the whole place but workers start after breakfast and finished before we returned back around 5pm. We turned up for breakfast at 9.30 mistakenly thinking it stopped at 11 but breakfast finished at 9 🫣 but the team there were so nice still made us a full breakfast and had a chat with us, breakfast by the way was amazing. We will definitely be back it's beautiful, food is great and the location on the riverside fabulous.

I was so impressed with this little hotel. Everyone I spoke to prior to booking was so helpful and lovely, totally putting me at ease about visiting during this time. It was my 30th birthday the day after the night of our stay and I was wished a happy birthday multiple times by staff. They also made sure we had a nice room. The balcony looking out over the river is so lovely! The room was small (I will say we did book the smallest room) but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Including a Nespresso machine which we always LOVE as we have one at home! Usually only see those in more upmarket hotels, so was very impressed to see one here. We were booked on the dinner bed and breakfast package which was spectacular value. I still can't believe how great value it was now! This entitled each of us to £30 each allocation towards dinner which got us three courses each. The food was gorgeous. Good honest pub grub! Service was good. The wine list was also good. The restaurant has lovely décor and a nice vibe. Its all glass windows so you can see out onto the river. Breakfast next morning was superb with tons of choice. The staff serving breakfast were chatty and helpful. Again, wishing me a happy birthday & asking what my plans for the day were. All in all we came away being so very impressed with this cute little hotel and pub. I bet its amazing in summer. Unfortunately, the November weather meant we could not take full advantage of what this place has to offer! I would really recommend this hotel. Well done to all.

I am a regular reviewer and for a very rare time I have to post a poor review. I have visited The Swan via boat, many times, either eating outside at the bar or in the restaurant. Today we went for lunch.
1. Quality of Service
Poor. Our food (with chips) was served without cutlery. On asking the waitress for mayonnaise, she said "ask the bar" and walked away. Queued at Bar and was told I will get it for you. Fair enough.
2. Quality of Food
I had a salmon & cucumber sandwich with chips. The bread was dry, I returned it. It came again but with dry bread.
3. Service Response
I asked the waitress why I had to go to the bar to ask for sauces, she told me the sauces used to be outside they had problems. I said "why don't the bar staff then say as you order what sauces would you like?" She said the bar staff don't do it its not to do with me".
So I suggest all bread should be fresh, and the sauce issue needs to be resolved, and cutlery always delivered.

We arrived here today at 12:30 and on approaching the bar were told we couldn’t have a drink because the pipes were being cleaned. I asked if we could have a coffee and the response was “ no, the pipes are being cleaned”. The member of staff then went back to picking her nails. We went across the river to the Slug and Lettuce where the staff seemed to actually want customers and made us feel very welcome. Won’t bother to try this place again.

Just spent a wonderful coffee followed by lunch at The Swan, meeting friends and catching up. Where to start. The location is just superb. Right on the Thames and the tow path, where you can watch the river life of rowers, paddlers, cruisers and swans, from the large and well appointed terrace. The welcome from Zoe and then Elliott the General Manager was wonderful, making us feel very much at home. The coffee was great, enjoyed in one of there 3 'cabins. This was followed and delicious lunch. The beer is well kept...a perfect pint of Pride, and the pimms was delicious and freshly made. Our friends had the salmon, commenting on how tasty and fresh it was. The burger was also fabulous. Water bowls also a plenty for our four legged friend, and the terrace had a lovely 'hum' of contented guests, including a group who had moored up at The Swan's jetty. Thank you to Elliott, Zoe, and all the staff who mad us feel so welcome.

Dear Fil D, May I start by thanking you so much for taking the time out to write such a wonderful review. We are all so pleased that you enjoyed the coffee, service and food. The Salmon dish is definitely one of our most popular with the surprising, yet delicious, combination of the olives and raisins salsa. We love having well behaved four legged friends come visit; if ever you wish to stay over do let us know as some of our beautiful bedrooms are dog friendly too. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Thank you and kind regards, Elliott Dickinson - General Manager

We booked for one night due to flight cancellations and ended up staying for three. Our room was the basic 'Cosy Room' which had everything we needed - good quality bed linen and towels, toiletries, etc. The shower room was compact with a brilliant shower. If we had intended to stay longer than one night we would have booked a larger room, especially as we had a lot of luggage. We had a balcony overlooking the river and spent ages watching the swans, geese, ducks and boats of all shapes and sizes. Great food in the riverside restaurant and good freshly cooked breakfast. All the staff were friendly and helpful, particular thanks to Judy and Julian. Hope to return soon.

Much room for improvement here!!! 3x meals very disappointing. One side of triple fried fry’s ($5) totaled 11x chips. Aubergine schnitzel was undercooked and chicken Kiev was absolutely terrible. Great setting though and I hope they get it together.

Fuller’s Kitchen at the Swan Hotel. The only thing that I was unhappy with was that the restaurant / Hotel had sold out of Grilled Cornish lemon sole, given we had booked a table for 19.45 for Saturday evening I was disappointed it had sold out. I realise Megrim needs to be eaten fresh as it perishes rather quickly.
So I settled for the Owton's 28 day dry-aged Hampshire Sirloin steak and my partner had the Blackened salmon both cooked perfectly.
We also booked for Sunday roast which was fine.
If you are looking for a Autumn break, misty mornings on the water and the rich colours of the changing leaves on walks along the Thames Path, The Swan Hotel is perfectly placed, and you will be met with a warm welcome. The room was comfortable and very clean. The staff very very welcoming and friendly.
The hotel & restaurant is very COVID SAFE with online check-in and sanitised key and much more
Maybe I will try another Fullers Hotel for the Megrim ?

Hi Michael, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, and your very informative feedback. The Cornish Lemon sole, is a very popular dish, and we are governed by our nominated fish supplier by how many they can supply us fresh on the day. Our kitchen is opened from 12pm, therefore unfortunately by 7.45pm on Saturday, after a very busy day we had run out. My apologies you were unable to order, but I am glad your alternative sirloin steak was perfectly cooked. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that you felt safe with our Covid19 procedures. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Swan, and that you enjoy your time at other Fullers Hotel's. Kind regards,

We stayed one night whilst walking the Thames Path. We arrived early and the staff found us somewhere to store our bags, so we could go off and explore the town. The hotel is old with uneven floors but this adds character, When we checked in and were shown to our room it was beautiful with a balcony looking over the Thames, where we sat and had a drink. Every seemed luxurious, the bed linen, the towels, the toiletries. Although there is a bar below and outside seating, we were not affected by noise. We also ate in the restaurant (booking is advised) and again it seemed a cut above. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was again good quality. All the staff were friendly and helpful even looking to move tables round so we could sit overlooking the river. Highly recommended and looking to return in the future for a getaway.

Liverpool, United Kingdom15 contributions10 helpful votesDo you have to pay for parking?
What happens if you can park outside hotel?
You have to pay to park in the street outside the hotel however the hotel is having a special arrangement and can offer a few parking spaces for free if you stay in the hotel. To be arranged with reception upon arrival. If I remember well, one can not make a reservation in advance.
No, they don't. Older buildings are not permitted to add the duct work etc air conditioning would require. But it is rarely needed.
Most rooms have windows, it’s an old hotel so probably no AC we have stayed there many times and continue to we have never had the need for AC
"The hotel is older, so the rooms are small, the steps are narrow. I don't there is an elevator (lift), so it may not be ideal for all."Read full review
