Really nice mid range Lodge next to Matopos National Park. Accommodation is in a series of 2 person bungalows which are clean and comfortable and have own kitchen facilities. Site has its own small game park where the owners organise tours and animal feedings. The latter is really recommended as you can get up close to the animals (elephant wildebeest zebra and warthog). The site also contains some ancient Cave paintings which are worth a (guided) visit. Nice Restaurant also on site with set meals. The best asset to the lodge however are the managers/guides who are extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

WOW, thank you Neil for your positive feedback! We are in gratitude that you chose us to host you and your family during your trip to Matopos. It is true that the animal feeding is something special to do, for the whole family. Seeing elephant here is not unheard of, but is not likely, I think you may have meant to say Giraffe? It was a pleasure to show you around our piece of paradise and hope you have the opportunity to visit again.

This was our first visit to Farmhouse. Half of the party camped while the rest stayed in the private rooms. The campsite location is spectacular with views of the stunning Matobo national park and wonderful long walks through the breath-taking granite outcrop landscape. The campsite has excellent facilities with charmingly designed ablution block and a very useful communal gazebo in case of rain. Campers are allowed to use the main lodge swimming pool which is beautiful. The only complaint we had was no staff on site to clean any of the communal areas (toilets, gazebo, emptying rubbish bins or lighting the fire for hot water in the boiler). We were there for three nights and only had one visit from the manager to light the boiler. The people staying in the chalets complained that there was no back up power system to cope with the numerous power outages. This meant they had no light at night and were not able to use the facilities in the room.

I am so sorry it has taken so long to respond to your review, somehow it was not noted but I felt it was important to address your reservations in hopes of clearing up some of the issues. I am sorry no one mentioned the campsite is unattended. We make sure it is clean on arrival and there is plenty of firewood for the braai and boiler but we normally leave the boiler to be lit by the campers as we feel this saves on firewood. During the pandemic we have tried to keep staff and clients separate as much as possible so only if requested do we send staff into rooms or campsite for cleaning. Again this should have been made clear and I am sorry if it wasn't. At the lodge it is true when there is a power failure the generator does not stay on 24/7. Each chalet has a small solar set up which we hope to replace with a large solar set up once the economy picks up. As you know even without electricity there is water and hot water in the rooms but the solar lights are the only source of light. Hopefully your stay in Matopos was otherwise enjoyable and again so sorry for such a late reply! Kind Regards, Kyle

I stayed here for 2 nights while on a G Adventures tour and it was easily a top highlight of my trip! Beautiful scenery, great accommodations, fun activities, relaxing pool, and delicious food! Our hosts, Kerry and Andre, were very welcoming throughout our stay and their shared enthusiasm for the animals and land is contagious! Not only would I highly recommend staying here but I would also suggest opting in for the ancient cave painting visit and reserve tour, as Kerry does a fantastic job of sharing her knowledge and insight on the paintings and animals. The rhino tracking excursion was fantastic too and we saw 3 rhinos! There’s also a great hike up the rocks behind the lodge that provides a beautiful sunset view that’s not to be missed! I would absolutely stay here again :)

Our chalet was nice and roomy and the farmhouse itself was lovely. The staff and owners were all very friendly - and a special thankyou to Barney who 'helped' us change a tyre (when I say he 'helped', he basically did it for us in his workshop, which was very kind!). We had dinners and breakfasts in the farmhouse both nights and they were all excellent - esp the roast pork with all the trimmings! Nice group of other guests, some of whom we chatted with extensively, made for fun evenings. We loved the guided walk to the cave paintings and also the self-guided hike up to the viewpoint where there is a geocache! The scenery in the Matobo Hills NP was spectacular, though we did not spot any rhinos...

On our tour of Zimbabwe we were allowed to spend a nice time here for two days. Already the welcome was very warm, the care by the managers Carey and André was very familiar and always fun, the drive over the farm grounds with subsequent sundowner a great experience! The bungalow rooms are very spacious, everything is very clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, there was little time for the beautiful pool, the game drive into Matopos National Park with guide Dumi (external company, but booked through Farm House) is highly recommended with lots of information on the history of SAN paintings, Cecil Rhodes and the rhinos. Thank you for the lovely time, I would love to come back!

Beautiful farmhouse lodge privately run by two very communicative and very sympathetic hosts Carey and Andre’. The attached campsite has spectacular views of the fantastic rock formations. Dinner in the farmhouse is recommended. A wonderful place !

We camped here for 3 nights just to get a good rest from our travels. The campsite has a stunning view, just remember it gets really windy and cold in winter. The site numbers are slightly confusing, but with the help of other campers there we got sorted and just chose a spot. Very good walks and hikes with nice views. Ablutions are good with plenty of water although we had to to start the donkey ourselves every day, and the ablutions really need to be cleaned once a day and the leaky taps and pipes need repairing. Not sure management has its fingers on the pulse. The last night put a bit of a damper on our feelings about this nice place, as a large group with a big truck arrived. They were very noisy till late and again from early morning. Also, the camp manager went to another couple that had been there for at least a week and asked them to move, :
"as this was were the large trucks always parked" That was really not good and shows that they appreciate the larger groups more than the individual camper. So before you book or put up camp, ask about any large groups arriving. But still, I would stay there again as it was a good option to go and see the Matobos reserve.

Thank you for the feedback. The views and hikes are an asset to our property, and often one of the highlights for guests. At View of the World campsite, we don't generally assign particular sites to campers as people love to make their own choices, and we allow that. I can see how someone could find that confusing though. Campers should be told when booking or at check in that our campsite is not serviced and they are to light their own fires as and when they need them, our apologies if you were not informed. We do send a staff member up in the morning to clean the ablutions and restock firewood, thank you for letting us know you did not find it clean enough, we have addressed this as we have addressed the tap that started leaking while you were there. We are sorry your last night seemed not as enjoyable as the previous two. We do have large groups that book over a year in advance, and as with all guests, they can reserve a particular spot when the booking is made. Guests are made aware of this at check in if we know their stay will be overlapping with such bookings. You are completely right, it is always a good idea to book beforehand and ask all questions. It would be a terrible situation if people were to arrive without a booking only to find there is a big group in or arriving. I can assure you we value every single guest that comes through our gate not just the big groups that make up a small part of our campers. It is great to hear that you will be back, and we look forward to seeing you on your next trip. Happy camping!

I was very disappointed in the camp designations as there was a conflict between other campers who were camping there. The campsite attendant said you may set up camp anywhere by the designated camp numbers. While we did this later in the afternoon, another couple came in from a drive and started to swear, shout, and accuse us of being in front of their view. Not knowing, of course, that there was anyone directly behind us when we set up camp. I did try to reason with this fellow camper, but the vulgar language and accusations was completely uncalled for! I then went and spoke to the manager about this issue and was quite taken aback by the response I got back. Obviously, these follow campers got preference over myself and my group. So, nonetheless, I just let it be. It was a very unpleasant stay after this experience. I do hope that in the future, campers get designated spots, and there are no conflicts like this going forward. Thanks

My husband and I stayed here for two nights during our month-long trip in southern Africa. It was a great place to be for a few days. The view from the top of the rocks behind the cabins was amazing, we loved biking the property on the many roads, the pool was amazing, and each cabin was so perfectly set into the rocks as if it was there forever. Great hosts, food and activities— would highly recommend!
