Only stayed here for one night but a great welcome on arrival and immediately encouraged to go out with the managers as they fed the animals. This was an incredible experience and thoroughly enjoyable to drive round the grounds as they pointed things out to us. We went up to the campsite which was empty at the time but an amazing set up with incredible views. The accommodation was basic but well looked after and the food all really tasty.
I stayed here for 2 nights in May, as part of a tour. My room was a cabin, which was clean and roomy, including a bathroom and kitchenette. No wifi in the cabin, though. Although there was wifi available in the lodge. The property is nice, with the possibility of hikes to see cave paintings, climb one of the area's many granite kopjes, or just look for animals. It was a treat to ride out with one of the caretakers when he was feeding the animals. The property is right next to Matobo National Park, which is convenient.
We stayed three nights in August 2019 at Farmhouse Lodge Campsite. The facilities were recently renovated and the best ones of our whole trip in Zimbabwe. The owners are very helpful and friendly, providing us with very useful tipps for the national park and caves around Matobo. The campsite is overlooking Matobo Nationalpark and provides lots of space and beautiful lookouts and views. Firewood is provided and there is also a public space with lots of shade and tables and chairs for enjoying the view and your meals. Do not miss the feeding of the giraffes and zebras at 1630 hrs every day. We really enjoyed the well signed footpath and walking treks. The balancing rock is definitely worth a visit. Thanks Michelle & Garry for this experience.
This lodge was a golden find. We were there as part of our three week tour across South Africa and Zimbabwe, and thankfully were there for two nights. We greeted on arrival by Michelle and Gary the hosts and were looked after from the minute we arrived. The lodgings were beautiful little cottages on the property and shared a communal dining and bar area and pool/lounging area. The breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by the lodge was all home made and really gave a welcoming feel to the place, like a a taste of home. There are a couple of hike routes available on the property, as well as bicycle rental which allows you to explore their miniature (although still massive!) reserve. We saw their giraffes, warthogs and zebra to name just a few. This lodge provides a great rest in amongst the bush and gave us a much needed opportunity to relax and take in our surroundings. …
I had a really good time on the farm and felt sad I had to say goodbye wished I could stay a bit longer. The couple running the farm are friendly, open and warm people they take really good care of their guests I loved them immediately. In the early morning we went to feed the wildlife close them GREAT! Thank you for the feather you gave me when we drove back it has a special place in my living room, hopefully you will see and touch snow one day in your life, we talked about that one night but most of all.... Hopefully I will return one day. Groetjes from Holland/ The Netherlands! Yvonne
