If you're interested in seeing and observing elephants, this is the place to go. Hundreds if not thousands were in the national park here. The Wilderness Camp (Little Makalolo) is beautifully situated and the accommodations are first rate. The food is excellent as well. The staff is particularly attentive and seem to be willing to do just about anything to...

This small camp is in a great location right next to a watering hole. Frequently there were 40 or so elephants around the water. We also saw giraffes, sable, and warthogs at the hole. There is a hide beside the watering hole that we used twice. It is a fantastic experience to be that close to so many elephants of...

Little Makalolo is a delightful stay with a friendly and very very accommodating staff. The tents were lovely as usual and the water hole out front provided good viewing. Especially fun is the chance to sit in the blind right up at the water's edge as the herds come in to splash and drink. We saw several large herds taking...

Just got back from a three night stay at Little Makalolo. Kim, Leo and the team are amazing. We had the camp to ourselves and it was wonderful. Little Mak is an extremely comfortable camp with just six tented chalets set in a semi-circle around a watering hole which is frequented regularly by a variety of wildlife especially elephants. Each of the tents are well laid out with indoor and outdoor showers facilities. The hot water is generated by solar panels and is very effective although it does...

Our visit to Hwange was one of the best part of our safari (going to starting in Moremi, Khwai, Linyanti, Vic Falls, and ending in Hwange at Little Makolo Camp). It sits with a great view of a watering hole and without fail elephants walk through to get a drink of water. The service, food and organization are impeccable. Kim...

Little Makalolo is a very cozy bush tented retreat that breathes the old days and where one feels like David Livingstone must have felt. Excellent game drives with our ranger Justice taking us to the lions, cheetah's however they dryer months must be far more excellent with little water around and the bigs herds gathering there for a drink.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Charming and intimate, Little Makalolo's location in the south-east of Hwange lends it a sense of seclusion and remoteness. Nestled into the treeline, the camp overlooks a productive waterhole that draws large numbers of wildlife, observed up close from the log-pile hide. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra are regular visitors, while special sightings include sable, roan and eland. The area is best explored on game drives and guided walks, with special extras like an unexpected pizza or a night spent under the stars on the Madison Pan star-bed platform. • 6 tents (1 family) • game drives • nature walks • Madison Pan star-bed • log-pile hide • village visits ... more   less
