I was surprised upon entering the main gated entrance to this hotel when I was presented with lovely courtyards. It was not apparent that within this fortress-like enclosure there were charming units and fragrant gardens. Because of the high ridge location, it affords a very tranquil atmosphere and beautiful views. If you are a stargazer and looking for a unique place to spend some quality time,this is it. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating.

This well-thought conversion of an old ksar (fortified granary) from the 18th century is probably the best and certainly most historic and interesting accommodation in this area of Tunisia. Very comfortable room with a small living room attached. Very strong A/C, good lighting and adequate plugs, strong water pressure. The location is on the outskirts to the South of the town of Tataouine, too far to walk, but a 3-4 minute drive. A nice restaurant is on site for meals and a large patio with a view is in back. Ksar Ouled Debbab is located on a ridge-top and the remains of the rest of the old ksar stretch out beyond, if you feel the urge to explore (that's why you are in Tunisia, right?). Our group from O.A.T. also was able to have dinner alfresco in one of the interior courtyards.

Recensisco solo la struttura e non il complesso commerciale in cui è stata trasformata. E' ilpiù grande complesso Ksar, quasi una piccola città, con le sue viuzze tra gli edifici. In parte ancora da ristrutturare. Tale ristrutturazione è stata fatta con il fine commerciale non rispettando le caratteristiche originarie, comunque si presenta abbastanza bene, meglio così che lasciarla cadere in pezzi.

I added this to my list of things to see outside of Tataouine but it really isn't even worth a stop. It's nothing compared to the nearby Ksar Ouled Soltane. Falling apart and nobody seems to care, except perhaps the hotel which is situated next door. They seem to have done some repairs, but in the old Ksar itself the most interesting thing you'll see is the kitschy remains of a giant fiberglass dinosaur.
