Stay here one night. The accomodation was clean enough and everything was there that you would need. Yes it is fairly basic but it is OK. We enjoyed our time there even though it was hammering with rain half the time. I would stay there again.
We have great memories of Chez Michelin from 15 years ago. So on our return we wanted to book in the same spot. When arriving we noticed that half of the place was under construction. When we asked about it, we got advise we also have to have an income...
My wife and I (residents from Praslin) love La Digue, and were keen to share the experience with our family (visiting from England). My wife booked over the phone and alarm bells rang instantly after a bizarre conversation whereby my wife wanted to know when we could check in, but the manager (I'm guessing) told her it depended on when we arrived. My wife repeatedly explained that when we arrive depends on when we can check in, but this fell on deaf ears. She finally settled on "It may be ready by midday" so we booked the boat for that time. When we called to ask for our transfer from the jetty (advertised on the website as free), we were told that she's "too busy" and "You can't have that much stuff, you're only staying for one night. You can walk". Presumptuous to say the least, never mind rude. On arrival we were greeted (without a smile) by the owner, who informed us that our room wasn't ready. Infuriating, as this is what we tried to establish originally on the phone, but we were told we could at least leave our bags in the room. Given the total lack of customer service skills and a sense of dread at what was to come, I was hesitant to pay the full balance having not been invited to see the room beforehand. I asked her if that would be a problem, her was response (after glaring at my wife) "it's a problem for me". I told her I was not prepared to pay the full balance if she refused to show us where we would be staying, her response was "fine by me". We left, wishing another family good luck (who had just been told in no uncertain terms to sit down and wait). Luckily, we found somewhere nearby to stay given such short notice. Our new manager, who clearly had nothing to hide, asked if we'd like to see the rooms before commiting and charged us at the end of our stay. Chez Michelin, you could learn a thing or two there. …
Stayed here for three nights and was very happy with the stay. Great location and really lovely grounds, there is even a giant tortoise wandering around looking for low hanging hibiscus flowers to eat! Low key and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms and bathroom very nice, air conditioning and wifi worked perfectly/ Good meals. Not enough people for a full on buffet each evening in March, but we were brought enough dishes for our small group of 5. My only complaint is that for breakfast there were crunchy biscottes. Why not real bread, or at least a mix of the two? Did not like those biscottes!
Ok guys, first of all, i did not check the trip advisor before when i came to this hotel , and now I will explain to you why sometimes you can not trust what people are writing!!!! We came to La Digue and booked the Airbnb ( different villa ), wich was cancelled. Actually, when we have arrived to the island we did not have any place to stay. And we were just asking the local people and some hotels , one lady reference this hotel to us. We got our room , nice and clean , fantastic breakfast, and the Florence was always very helpful. In 1 week my husband went back home , and I had 1 week more . they offer me to stay at our place with -40% discount, and after I realized, how fantastic is the dinner , what they offer ! For me it was first experience, to stay not in a 4 or 5 star hotel , but ! This people gave me the feeling like a family! They are so nice, you need just Tonhöhe them a bit of love , and they will open as a rose 🌺. For the hospitality, for the help , for the tasty and dinner, for arranging for me the guide , and the Dinner at the top - thank you , and see you next year ! ❤️ Big hug to Chakki ) Natalia and John …
