Travelers' Choice
The Inn, with working fireplaces, jetted baths and private sundecks, is located in Upstate New York on a 250-acre private lake. Like resort lodging, Inn at Lake Joseph provides a variety of summer and winter recreational facilities, including row boats and kayaks, an outdoor pool, cross-country skis and snow shoes for use, and access to a nearby health and fitness spa. But unlike larger hotels, with just 17 guest rooms, a luxurious, yet informal, casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, private, rustic mountain lake environment awaits. Very much like the Berkshires, White Mountains, Adirondacks and Poconos, the Catskills surrounding the Inn offer spectacular scenes of lakes and rivers, as well as hiking trails with views of majestic peaks and isolated waterfalls. However, unlike these other regions, The Inn is no more than 2 hours from New York City.

From the moment we left our car, we were greeted by Matt with a warm welcome. He was beyond helpful and always had great suggestions. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Chestnut Room which was not part of the Main Inn. It was closer to the lake and fire pit...which was awesome at night roasting marshmallows. During our stay, we enjoyed sitting by the pool, hiking around the property, taking a row boat out on the lake, and enjoyed the breakfasts that were safely delivered to our room each morning. If you're looking to get some peaceful time away in the outdoors, this is the place to visit! The picturesque setting will delight all!

We have stayed here before and will certainly return. There is a beautiful lake you can walk to and then use the canoes or rowboats. If you are lucky you will see bald eagles, we saw 2!! The breakfast is great quality ( we had omelettes/yogurt / fruit/tea) and they include lunch!! They have a pool, badminton area, ping pong, trails, and fire pit. It’s a relaxing place and there is a good Italian restaurant right down the road. Ivan, the owner, is entertaining and loves to talk politics and world issues. Matt, is the host with the Most!! He could not be more helpful and is always there to assist.

We were very happy with our visit here. We traveled with another couple and our dog. We were looking for a place That took caution with Covid and outdoors with activities. Very dog friendly. The innkeeper Matt was great. Always available and accommodating to all our needs and changes we made. He helped with hikes, fire pit, good conversations and always seemed to be working on something. We used, paddle boats, kayaks, badminton, ping pong and hiking trails. Only downside is only 1 restaurant delivered, Italian but inn supplied breakfast and lunch sandwiches so that helped. We cooked on grill 1 night. We did Woodstock museum 25 minutes away. Everyone and everyplace followed COVID distancing and masks.

We wanted to get away after the covid lockdown & decided on Inn at Lake Joseph. It was only a 90 minute drive from our home in No NJ & we really felt like we found relaxation. Immersed in nature, our room (Laurel) was private, quiet & set back on the property. Matt & all staff were very friendly, helpful & professional. Pool area & hiking trail were great. I read another review stating that even though there are other people at the Inn, you really feel as if you are the only guests there and I believe that's a good description. Property is very well maintained & peaceful. Excellent dinner restaurant just down the road, Soliai. Loved the Sleep Number bed too! Very, very comfortable! Giving the Inn a rating of 4star, not 5, because the a/c unit is literally blowing directly onto one side of the bed & the food is average, other than that a very nice getaway with excellent service.

After an easy & short drive from New York City, we drove up to the idyllic & serene Inn at Lake Joseph which has an immediate rustic, peaceful charm. We were greeted by Matt who was an outstanding host offering tips on what to do & explaining their catered meal choices which were phenomenal. We were shown to our room, we stayed in the Cupola and the bright airy room, paired with the spacious & homely furnishings were much more than we had hoped for. With a fully equipped kitchen, a BBQ on deck, a fireplace in the bedroom and a mattress which you can alter the firmness of we were in love. The amenities of this charming little hotel are nothing short of breathtaking. A short, scenic walk takes you to the quiet lake with access to rowboats & canoes you will not be short of things to do. Though, we opted for a game of fetch with our pooch who thought he was at Disneyland! By night time, Ivan or Matt would light the firepit for us where we roasted marshmallows, also provided to us and sat around for a drink with fellow guests. All in all, after traveling around the world this is up there with one of the favortie places I have ever been. A true place to relax, unwind & enjoy.
