It was clean. Small. Plain. But had what it needed. I was concerned that I would hear people in the rooms above and next door but we didn’t. This place can use a little decoration on the walls. But it was fine for what it was. I was only here for one night. I wouldnt stay for much more than that. Front staff megan was really nicer

The upholstered headboard was torn and filthy. There were long black hairs on the sheets. The “balcony” is a tiny Juliet one; barely large enough to stand on. No phone. Although the front desk people were nice, $300 was ridiculous…and before the season! I wouldn’t book here again if it were free.

Stayed at the Grove Hotel for an overnight with a friend who had never visited Fire Island and we both had an awesome time . Our second floor room had amazing views of tranquil Cherry Grove from ocean to bay . Concierge and staff are super helpful and friendly and our standard room was immaculate , spacious , and comfortable with extra blankets and a second bed you can pull out of couch . Lots of hot water in bathroom and I loved the moisturizing shampoo and soaps ! The pool is pristine with lots of deck space to lounge and being adjacent to beach and town is so ideal. I limited my phone use this time but will certainly have to snap some pics to add to this review when we return for a longer stay ! Michael P.

I understand the place is newly rebuilt, but the furniture is hideous and poorly designed for the space. The overall feeling is like being at a cheap motel you stumble upon after a long drive. The bathroom is also poorly designed. The hand-towel rack is too close to the floor and the sink area has no room to put toiletry bags or even a toothbrush. When we dropped something on the floor in the bedroom, we found fake rose petals under the bed. While this must have been part of a very romantic ritual for a previous occupant, it's kind of gross to find now, and shows how little the room was cleaned before our arrival. Finally, the tv only had 3 channels. And this all came at a high price room rate.

Room Tip: Don't be fooled by the term "balcony". It is about 1 foot deep and feet wide.

Had a pleasant stay with my friends at the Grove Hotel until I went to use the pool deck restroom and was aggressively approached and rebuffed by the Ice Palace/Grove Hotel manager. The bathroom was closed for cleaning; however rather than professionally explaining this inconvenience, the manager insinuated that I was trespassing on private property, arguing with me that “/if/ you’re a guest, you should just go and use your own, clean bathroom”. His attitude was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Moreover, when I spoke to this same manager afterwards to express my mistreatment, he inappropriately, condescendingly, and misogynistically addressed me, saying, “you misunderstood me, baby.” He continued on to argue that he had highest authority over both the Grove Hotel and the Ice Palace, thus implying that what I had to say didn’t matter to him. I commend the professionalism of the rest of the staff, but I want to make it known that this incident with the manager soiled the Grove Hotel’s reputation in my eyes. I would not recommend staying here.

It was a pleasure staying at the Grove hotel. My mom and I stayed and we enjoyed the new hotel. The rooms were nice, new and roomy for fire island. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and activities. We loved the staff, by the end of the trip we felt like family Thanks, lacey for hosting us and being so thoughtful to my mom.

I have been staying at The Grove Hotel now for over a decade now so thought it is time for a review. My spouse and I consider Cherry Grove my home away from home. This was our second season staying at the grove hotel since the renovations. My favorite part checking in each season to the hotel is being so welcomed by familiar faces because it reminds me another great summer is upon us all. The rooms all vary in size but each has a mini-fridge and a comfortably sized bathroom. The hotel staff is also always available to help. Once I had to book a water taxi to somewhere in Fire Island, I had no clue and they quickly got on the phone with the water taxis services to help out. The hotel has a pool and The Ice Palace nightclub with multiple events each day and night. It provides more to do than just going to the beach. On the weekends there are interactive drag pool shows where guest can lounge poolside to enjoy. One of my personal favorite events is Tuesday’s scary movie nights hosted by Uncle Spooky. With popcorn, bingo and a projector screen, it creates the perfect setting for a throwback to the classic horror films. One additional perk is the hotel offers bag check if you arrive early or also if you want to stick around after check out. In short, I can’t wait for next summer...

A must for a long weekend or extending time on the island. The staff so friendly, competent and the renovated vibe a definite step up! Lacey is professional, kind, generous and intent on making all guests feel welcome.

We did a last minute stay for one night. On arrival at the hotel you are asked for your credit card which is photocopied and kept on file. My bank called me 4 hrs later and thousands of dollars of charges from online stores has been run up on my credit card. It had to be from someone working at the hotel as I had not used it for a few days prior to this point. I reported to the manager who was apologetic but this was very uncool. Be careful when using this hotel

....but this hotel is only okay. Honestly, the service is the best part about it. Lacey and Rob are both such wonderful people. The location is awesome, too, I mean how can you go wrong when it is so close to both the ferry and the beach. Here's how you can go wrong: 1) Pray you do not get a room on the poolside. You will never get a wink of sleep. I know Fire Island is party central, but I did want some sleep. 2) The hotel rooms are basic af. There is a fridge and a safe but not even a coffee maker, or hooks for towels exist. 3) The room still had sand all over the floor when we checked in. I know some grains are unavoidable but there was a carpet of sand. Clean the rooms well if you are going to charge what you do. 4) The WiFi doesn't work. It never connected for us the whole time we stayed. Of course, service on Fire Island is patchy so WiFi would have been cool to stay connected with our group. With the above four issues, charging what they do for a room is quite cheeky. If that all improved, it would be a great place to stay. However, as it stands, it is just average. It is Fire Island, though. You have limited choice, and they know it, so why would they bother to improve all of that? I *do* so love Lacey and Rob, though....
