This is a great place to stay with a large group. Very close proximity to Holiday Valley Ski area, and the town of Ellicottville. Our group used it for a weekend of skiing. The house itself has many bedrooms, several kitchens, a large basement, outdoor hot tub, and even a garage. The house sits on a large plot of land,...

Spent two nights at the Black Dog and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was delicious and our room was spacious and included a Jacuzzi tub which was just what we needed after a long day of skiing. The rustic, log-cabin style décor fit the mood and the season. It should be noted that this is not in town but a...

My husband and I had a great stay at this B&B Mar 1-4. Beautiful lodge, delicious breakfasts and very thoughtful hosts. We enjoyed the fireplace in the common room a lot! Felt very much at home. We had car trouble and Lynda was just great, even offered to give us a ride to ski hill. Thank you Lynda for your...

A Beautiful, well-run, well-kept and quiet place. The room and common area are always clean. Breakfast was served on-time with freshly ground coffee every day. Only 8-10 minutes from the Holiday Valley Ski resort. I was glad that The Inn was sold out otherwise we would not have found this gem! I requested gluten-free diet and there was specially cake...

This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast and if theyre all like this, them I am hooked! The house was perfectly clean, quiet, and in a great location, Linda was a wonderful host, made amazing breakfast's and gave great advice for dinner choices and activities in the area. I stayed in the Scottish room which was cozy...

My husband & I just returned from the Black Dog Lodge during Blues Weekend 1/4/14. We were greeted within minutes by the owner, Linda, who is very gracious and accommodating. She oriented us to the lodge and surrounding area and asked if we had any special needs or food allergies. Gratis toiletries were of high quality and environmentally sensitive. The...

Great location near Holiday Valley. The warm welcome & hospitality was just what we needed after a long week of travel and hitting the slopes. We stayed in the master suite and were impressed greatly with the comfort and size. Bathroom had heated floors and a perfect tub for soaking in. Kitchen stocked with all necessary amenities and living room...

The black Dog probably deserves 3.5 or a good rating but there were a few things that I just can't get over. First I will say this this is a very cute and clean BB. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. When we finally met the owner she was very friendly. We made of reservation on the day we planned...

When guests arrive after the appropriated check in time they are checked in over the phone. If they arrive late maybe following skiing, late dinner etc., they often will miss the common room, especially if they are upstairs. Our check out time is 11am so there is always time following breakfast, to enjoy the amenities. I am very sorry these...

My wife and I stayed one night at Black Dog Lodge on the pre-Thanksgiving weekend -- in addition to being the weekend before Thanksgiving, we had a bit of a snow storm and so the town and the lodge were quiet -- in fact we had the lodge all to ourselves. The lodge is meticulously maintained, very tastefully decorated in...

We stayed here during the Ellicottville Beer and Wine Festival. We are new to Bed and Breakfasts, but it exceeded all expectations! We traveled with another couple and both rooms were very clean and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and helpful with ideas for places to try. Breakfast was amazing! Would recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for...

“Be sure to mention if you're new to the B&B experience and want a more isolated room. The Scottish room is off the kitchen & dining room where guests congregate early in the a.m.”

“Rick and Linda are fantastic hosts, and will even come into town to pick you up after dinner if you've had a few drinks. Book a room here, you'll love it.”

“take a downstairs room. We stayed in the Scottish room. Great views. Right off the deck. Off the kitchen so can get a little noisy in the morning. Beauty's room is off the gathering room at the other end of the house and looked very nice and private. Or you can always spring for the Master suite! Upstairs rooms were right next to each other and looked a little smaller. We didn't see the Dog House.”
