The Deer Watch is a lovely bed & breakfast in the northern Catskills. It lives up to its name, with deer regularly congregating in the field across the way; there's also a pair of ducks that have taken up residence at the pond. Did I mention the pond on site? It has a little pier with patio furniture and is a great place to relax. Jo-Ann is a wonderful hostess! She makes amazing breakfasts, and was accommodating of my food allergies. She was also very helpful in orienting us to local attractions, although her hand-drawn maps could be a bit confusing. Fortunately, she also had an ample supply of tourist brochures, which, when combined with her wealth of local knowledge, did the job. Our room (the "Mary Iris") was comfortable and welcoming. Jo-Ann warned us the bathroom would be small, and it was--the house is centuries old, and there's only so much rearranging that could be done with the space. Overall, a great experience--we'd gladly stay there again if we go back to the area.…
We were a group of 4 couples spending a weekend in the area. Jack and Joann were great hosts! They gave us great recommendations for restaurants, etc. The historic inn was very comfortable and clean; full of pictures and history of the area. We had amazing breakfasts both mornings. The dock on the pond was such a nice place to relax at the end of the day! Our night of music will be unforgettable!
Fabulous innkeepers Joann and Jack stayed two days with wife in one room two daughters in other Back to back two of the best breakfasts we have ever eaten Joann went out of her way to make my wife gluten free waffles when she was made aware of a diet restriction Miss u already but we will be back for sure Michael & Sharon Curley of SI
Stayed with Joann & Jack last year and going back this year. Lovely couple , great breakfast and lots of personal attention. Love the grounds and Koi pond, and dont forget to take some of Joann's homemade jelly's home with you.
I got a lovely little room with detached but private bathroom for a lower price. I'm pretty sure all other rooms have their own private baths. A flight of narrow stairs and thin walls in a truly historical building. The bed was scrumptiously comfy, the owners were warm and friendly, the breakfast was hand cooked, the wifi was superb. I LOVED it!!
