Had a very nice 2 night stay at the Cooper Inn. The 3 of us had a double room with 2 beds in one room, a twin in the other, and the bathroom in between. It was the perfect mix of privacy and togetherness. The beds and linens were excellent, with good pillows. The bathroom was modern and we liked the Beekman 1802 bath products so much that we took a drive to their shop to stock up. Our room was quiet but rather too warm, so I ended up sleeping with the window open. In winter. Not very efficient. Breakfast was served downstairs in one of the very pretty parlors. We enjoyed the food selection and the coffee. We took full advantage of the nightly wine and cheese and learned so much about the history of the house and the area from the history buff man behind the front desk, Lance. Chatting with him was a highlight. We ended up at the Cooper almost by accident. We had hoped to return to the Otsega but learned after much sleuthing that it was closed for the winter (why wasn’t it simply stated on the website that it was closed for the season?). We have decided now that we prefer the Cooper Inn and look forward to returning soon.…
Very happy with our stay. The property and rooms were well appointed and maintained. Our room and bed were very comfortable and quiet. Staff was very accommodating. I enjoyed the robes provided, the complimentary breakfast and wine and cheese hours. Charming historic property affiliate of Otesaga.
Quaint hotel very close to Cooperstown Main Street (including the Baseball Hall of Fame). There are only 15 rooms so book well in advance. Room was clean, wi-fi worked well, and was very conveniently located. We had a nice stay in general, but there were a number of small things that added up to a four star rating instead of five: -we couldn't figure out how to work the heater properly (and weren't alone based on conversations with fellow guests at breakfast) and the front desk wasn't very helpful -numerous things were broken or falling down in or around our room -breakfast was fine, but exactly the same every day of our four-night stay -one gentleman at the front desk during the late afternoon and evening was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable of the area, but the others we encountered at night and in the morning were friendly, but didn't seem to know much about the area -in the morning on weekdays, there was a fairly constant loud "humming" sound coming from a nearby business that started around 8AM…
This 1812 gem sits only a block from Main Street, with a classic sign and gates with a circular driveway to the front door. There is a 1920's addition to the left that gives the Cooper the look of a small English manor house. There are only 15 rooms and we elected to stay in the original section that had a beautiful spiral staircase to our room on the 2nd floor. Room 270 has a great view of the property's sloping hill to the creek in the back and side view to Main Street. The room was very nice, with a nice size bath, and had a non working fireplace. The entire inn just oozed character, from the entrance way, breakfast parlor, wall paintings, living rooms with fireplaces and interesting wall and rug designs, patterns and colors that gave the inn a regal feel. The self service breakfast was great with many options and the atmosphere to enjoy it. The evening vine was a nice perk we enjoyed both evenings by the fireplace and the young gentleman working the evening desk was very generous. I would also like to thank Ken for his generous time and conversations over the 3 days. He answered my many questions regarding the inn and Cooperstown and gave me a great overview of the inn and local insight, as well as recommending the book, "The Clarks's of Cooperstown. The Cooper Inn is lucky to have him.…
You may want to make reservations WELL in advance, like maybe a year ! This vintage yet beautiful up to date hotel has merely 15 rooms and is walking distance from the Baseball Hall of Fame. One could not ask for a nicer hotel in any tourist area. The costs are pricey from Memorial Day through Columbus Day when they tend to lower but not by much. Expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $200 per night depending on time of the year, weekday or week end. There is a FREE breakfast of eggs, cereal, waffles, toast, fruit, coffee, tee, juice, Danish and beverages. It is a self service breakfast. Parking is on the grounds and there is plenty of room. You are located a mere two blocks from the Hall of Fame. Service and staff are friendly and efficient. Rooms are comfortable, clean and adequate. If you get reservations and want to pay the price then this is for you to try and to check another one off the "bucket list" of areas to visit.…
