Relax on our spacious 5 acre grounds in one of the most secnic areas on the the St Lawrence river. Our accomodations include 6 large 2-queen bed motel rooms, 6 deluxe 1-queen bed motel rooms, and 14 modern fully furnished housekeeping cottages ranging from 1 to 2 bedrooms. All our units are immaculate and are maintained as new and include cable and WiFi. Our picturesque grounds include picnic facilities throughout, a screened gazebo with patio firepit featuring nightly camp fire . We also have horseshoe and bocce.. Our large pool is heated for your comfort. West Winds waterfront features an observation deck to view the breathtaking scenery, ships from all parts of the world and our gorgeous sunsets. Also, we have a fishing at our protected dockage for 16 boats.
Wife and I were just looking for a quick visit to the area and she made a reservation at this location, not really knowing what to expect. Whoa! VERY NICE and super well kept old-fashioned motel with several cottages on site and on the river! Lot's of amenities including boat docks, and beautiful pool, great looking fire pit and pavilion. All guests have access to a bbq area set up at the pavilion with gas grills ready to use! Picnic tables under pretty sugar maples abound! The motel (we stayed there) room was smallish, but updated, super clean, and super comfortable! We were very impressed, and already are trying to figure out another weekend for a visit soon!

Stayed for Memorial Day week with my fur babies. I originally booked the Lower Riverfront Cottage which is beyond awesome views of the river and a beautiful cottage as well but the stairs proved more than I was able to do; not to mention one of my dogs in elderly and frail and needed to be carried both up and down the stairs. If youre looking to basically hang out at the cottage and enjoy the views its beautiful. My second day there I knew the stairs were just to much for me and my knee was getting swollen and painful as I have previous injury so I spoke to Jolene and she couldn't of been more understanding and seeing how it was a full house that Sunday she offered to change me asap the next day to a cottage without all those stairs to navigate. True to her word she put me in cottage #17 on Monday and I loved it!!!! I have previously stayed in motel and fishermans cottage and #20 as well as upper riverfront but I would not hesitate to stay in 17 again it offered a kitchette nice bathroom and sitting areas in both front porch with view of river and room itself. It offered a private outside patio area with view of river. My only issue was just I was unaware that most common areas of property allow smoking and I have bad asthma ; Again Jolene did ask the guests who did smoke near the lower riverfront sitting area to be mindful of me with my asthma. I feel Jolene definately cares and wants her guests to have a good stay. Also, immpecable housekeeping. Kim thank you for the doggy bag when i had checked out and Bella did her business and I didn't have any poopy bags in hand as was all packed in car not thinking.

Always clean. Always friendly. Beautiful spot, close to everything. We love going to West Winds! It is fun to meet new people around the bonfire and this year West Winds had safe distances clearly marked out with the chairs at the bonfire.

great place to stay!! it is probably the friendliest place on earth. Clean cozy right on the river. Clayton is a great little town to go explore not like some other towns on the river that has the same t-shirt in every store . we love West Winds ,have kept coming back for 8 or 9 years now and have already made our reservations for next year . try you will like it

My family spent 2 nights at one of the cottages at West Winds. When we opened the door to the cottage you could see right away it had been newly renovated and was extremely clean. We just had to bring in our bags and were ready to enjoy our vacation. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating from check in to check out. The property was clean and well maintained. The views from the pergola were breathtaking. The sunset was absolutely stunning. We felt the stress just melt away. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to family and friends. Thank you West Winds for a very memorable get away.

Great place! Accommodations are clean and cozy. We stay here every year. Owners, Jolene and Dean, are very hospitable and willing to help with anything needed. Cottages are equipped with kitchen supplies, pet friendly and air conditioned. There is an on-site pool and nightly group gatherings at the fire pit. Nearby, you can find boat ramps for fishing. A brief walk down a hill will bring you to a dock that you can walk to see the beautiful sunsets. West Winds is located to multiple places to sightsee such as Bolt Castle, the Saint Lawrence River and much more.

My husband and I (68 & 65) came in June 2021 on a road trip around New York State. We are from Pennsylvania and this was our first time in the Thousand Islands. We stayed in Motel Room #4, basic with a bed, lounger, and mini-fridge. It’s a bit dated but Jolene is very helpful, and there is a courtesy room with a microwave, coffee, tea and ice. We had a plastic picnic table and parking right outside our door which was great. The bathroom and shower are small. But there is a fire pit, pool, grills, and after a walk to the end of the property - a million dollar view of the Saint Lawrence River. You can walk right next door to the Chateau Restaurant and Distillery. Clayton is convenient to the Antique Boat Museum (best in USA), Clayton Boat Tours, Boldt Castle, and River Rat Cheese (Original 1,000 Dressing & Cheese Curds), 20 minutes over a bridge to Wellesley Island where there is a park, the cutest little Victorian homes, and many people travel around on golf carts. FYI - this place gets real booked up: it’s very reasonable, and many people are return happy customers.

West Winds staff and owners go above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable. The rooms are always clean and staff will come around to change towels during your stay. The grounds are beautiful- river views, pool and community camp fire! It's a great place to meet other guests. It makes for a wonderful river evening! Jolene and her family truly want to know their guests and will take their time to talk. The location is great being close to Clayton. Can't wait to go back!

Since I was a small child my family has always vacationed in Clayton, NY. I am now an adult who still appreciates this beautiful area of our wonderful state. While growing up we have stayed at practically every cabin, cottage, and motel in Clayton, however, West Winds Motel and Cottages is simply the best by far!!! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the owners are genuinely amazing people; the cottages are up to date and always very clean and well kept and the grounds are impeccable.

We have been going to West Winds for 20 years now. Haven't missed a year. Great friendly and clean place to stay right on the river. Owners are very friendly and make sure everyone has a great time while staying at West Winds. Great views and lots to do in the area. And every night there's a camp fire for everyone staying there to come together and meet eat other.

Hi Laura!! So nice meeting you last weekend! Yes, I’ve heard this before. I wish we could but with the schedule of our front desk it makes it too difficult. Your next visit for sure bring your favorite coffee and I can put a coffee maker in your room with filters. We have plenty!! :)
