My husband and I recently stayed 5 nights at the Red Door Inn and we loved it. The room was warm and cozy, the breakfasts were amazing and Kathyrn the host was super nice. We felt like we were family, coming home for a visit. I would highly recommend it. We could not say goodbye, but rather “until next time” because we will be back!
The Red Door Inn of Canandaigua was the destination for our first anniversary trip. The inn itself was astounding and is decorated with absolute care in an antique-chic fashion - complete with gilded mirrors and fashionable botanical flair. While the building itself was impeccable, the true gem of this destination is the inn keeper herself, Kathryn. She was with us whenever we needed guidance and welcomed us with tailored recommendations for the area. Breakfast every morning felt like a family gathering, but with the style of fine china and candlelight. Our favorite moments at The Red Door Inn were spent on the wrap around veranda watching the sunset with a bottle of wine.
Katherine is a spectacular host. She knows the area very well and provided great dinner recommendations. The house is amazing with the character that it provides, as it is over 200 yrs old. She provides more than what more places could ever dream of and her hospitality is spectacular. We stayed in the Field room, which provided the perfect size for a sleeping space, a large jacuzzi tub with plenty of room for my wife and I, along with a custom stand up shower.
I saw the Red Door, pulled into the gravel circular drive, and was greeted with a smile by Kathryn at the side door. I quickly learned that the Inn's building was 216 years old and perhaps the oldest home in Canandaiga, NY. The home restoration and Bed & Breakfast idea came to fruition in 2009. Great feel to the place from the moment I walked in. My second floor room with bath reminded me of great aunt's house -- comfortable with interesting and comforting details (long-stemmed red rose in vase) that give the place welcoming character.
This was our first B+B experience and because of Kathryn there will be many more. We came a short distance to spend a quick yet relaxing weekend and attend a local concert. We were greatly impressed by the friendly, caring and helpful owner Kathryn. The first night we were the only ones in attendance and had a quiet restful beginning to our quick getaway. The house is beautiful with many useful amenities, beautiful furniture and most important - a relaxed, homey atmosphere. The second night there were 2 other couples, also there for the concert. The atmosphere was friendly and exciting. At breakfast the next morning we all enjoyed an incredible breakfast and sat around the dining room table exchanging impressions of the previous nights concert and personal reminiscences.
