We came to the Victorian on a whim one Friday for bicycling the Erie Canal. Since Victorian décor has become a little passé, we were not sure we would have an "up-to-date property experience" ; however, we were pleasantly surprised. The place is extremely well maintained and pleasant, including the flower beds outside. Everything we needed was available and the location was extremely convenient. We could bike to town, to the canal, etc. The breakfast was good, too! I would go back to the Victorian Inn in a flash.
I was in town for a campus reading, and the school put me up at The Victorian Bed & Breakfast, and I was utterly, utterly charmed by the place. So much better than a modern hotel, and an outright luxury compared to an Airb&B. I loved all the exquisite rooms in the common areas, the dining room where I had a full breakfast served by Claudia, the housekeeper twice. The sun porch with the fireplace where I sat to prepare for my reading. And my gorgeous, gorgeous blue room facing the street. Wifi was strong. The rooms were comfortable. I could help myself to a glass of water from the kitchen whenever I liked...and I could walk into town or campus with no fuss or muss. It was a wonderful stay and the owners clearly take wonderful care of it. Guests will want to care for it too, as I did. My only regret? That I could not stay longer.…
We stayed at the bed and breakfast for two nights while attending an event at the College of Brockport. The innkeepers are very friendly and welcoming, and they did their best to ensure our comfort. The Rose Room gets the highest marks as it has the jacuzzi. We stayed in the Loft Room. Although it does not have a jacuzzi, it is separated from the other rooms and accessed with its own staircase, so it would be ideal for travelers who are looking for more seclusion. It also has a nice desk as a work space. The location of the place is ideal, about a 10-minute walk to downtown Brockport and its restaurants and bars.
We stayed at the Victorian during out Erie Canal bike ride from Buffalo to Syracuse. The B&B was easy to get to from the intersection of the bike trail and Main Street. It was within walking distance of the business area where there were several establishments available for dinner. We arrived in the late afternoon at the Victorian and although the keepers were out, they left a key for us with good instructions on what to do. There was a garage available for us to store the bikes. The house was very quiet and you have two living room areas available to relax besides your room. Everything was very clean and orderly. We had a great nights sleep and breakfast was available as we arranged promptly at 8:00AM. The breakfast was good and we were able to eat, get packed up and on our way all before 9:00AM. This is definitely a good place to stay and reasonably priced when compared to other B&B's we have stayed in that were not as good and actually cost more. We would return again if in the Brockport area. Another quick note, Brockport is a good stopping point, we have cycled most of the canal and this is one of the better towns on the trail.…
Four of us stayed at this B&B while cycling the Erie Canal. We found the location of the B&B to be easily accessible with bicycle storage provided in the garage. The rooms were adequate and clean - bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size with hot water readily available. While the accommodations were satisfactory, we ( all four of us) were disappointed in the lack of welcome and hospitality provided. No effort was made to inform us that coffee or tea was available - and where to get it ( not available in the rooms). No one told us where we were permitted to sit and relax outside of our rooms. In the morning when we came down for breakfast, I had to ask three times for a cup of coffee before I was given a cup. This was at about 15 minutes before we were scheduled for breakfast. Unbelievable in a B&B. We were asked to pay for the B&B by sending a check when we made the reservation - fine. But we were not exactly informed that we also had to pay taxes when we signed out. This might have been a misunderstanding, but it should be clearly stated in the emails at the time the reservations is made. I usually write only positive reviews. If I feel negative about an experience, I usually do not write a review. But the lack of hospitality at this B&B prompted me to write this review as I would not want anyone else to pay this price and be treated in such an unwelcoming manner. They need to take a lesson from the B&B in Medina.…
