We had not ever stayed here and heard lovely things and photos were nice. The “lower lodge” room we booked was not as imagined at all. We called our room the motel basement with a “patio” or trough facing a hill. The lake and dock was so nice and we decided to make the best of it. That evening we found out the worst part of our room the noise level of the adjoining rooms is awful, the doors continue to slam (2 of them ever entry or exit) was almost as unbearable as the neighbors hooting hollering yelling laughing until well past midnight. We stopped by desk to see if they’d be leaving that day so not to have a repeat of the horrible night. Front desk rep told us yea they are leaving unless they decide not to in a really flippant manner. Well truth was they weren’t leaving at all which left us with 2 nights of little sleep in a motel basement with a stinky moldy shower. Again lovely grounds but do not stay in lodge rooms!! I assume the hotel is much nicer.

Our family has been coming to The Sagamore for years and we always look forward to our yearly family getaway here. This year we decided not to rent suites since we didn’t think they were worth $900 a night and went with regular rooms. This time we had 3 rooms in one of the lodges and all of them had issues. My room’s door latch was coming off and the door didn’t close completely (you could see a gap on the top left). My parents room was overall dirty. It was very shocking to see how their shower curtain had mildew and the tub seemed dirty. Luckily my mom brought her own pillows because the ones in their room was dirty. The resort should be kept up a little better. There is cobwebs all over the doors when you walk into the rooms of the lodges, there is always trash in the common areas like empty beer bottles, etc. For a property like this you would expect more. We had dinner at the restaurant the first night and one of us was given an expired beer. All the server did was apologize but no action was taken. During these times, I would hope that cleanliness was their top priority but it doesn’t seem that way. The Sagamore holds a special place in our heart because we have been coming here with our grandparents, parents and now our children but it was very disappointing to see the lack of cleanliness.

My 8-year-old and I stayed at the Sagamore September 8 & 9, 2020 as an "end-of-a-not-so-fun-summer" treat. We chose this property mainly for the available outdoor activities, including a pool. Although much more crowded than expected (after Labor Day and during a pandemic with travel restrictions) we were still able to enjoy the outdoor pool and patio dining. Highlights included a large and clean outdoor pool with ample deck chairs and a spectacular view of Lake George, plenty of Adirondack chairs for sitting around the property, beautifully maintained grounds and the option of dining outside. We had a corner room in the main hotel with easy access to the pool, restaurants, lobby, etc. The coffee served at breakfast was great, as was the Strawberry Shortcake on the dinner menu. No major issues that would prevent me from recommending the Sagamore, although we were disappointed the pub was not open during our stay. The on-site restaurants that were open didn't have especially exciting menus, although my son and I enjoyed the salmon one night and burgers the next. They do offer a dedicated kids menu (generous salmon entree) and the burger from the main menu was easily finished by my 3rd grader after a full day in the pool. Be sure to read what amenities/dining options are available as some may change with the seasons. The restaurant - especially at breakfast - was busy and on a wait. Go early! There is a bar in the shower that we used for our wet bathing suits but we needed more space by the second day. Safety observations: all staff wore masks and guests were pretty good about following the rules. However, it is difficult to be at a pool/sitting/eating outside with a mask so there were some guests who moved around a bit without face coverings. I was surprised that the deck chairs (at the pool) were not sanitized between uses. As soon as they were vacated, others sat down (this included small side tables that were used for belongings/food/drinks.) Kudos, however, to the gentlemen who picked up wet towels left by guests; there was a "dirty-towel-bin" but it appeared many guests didn't know to clean up after themselves. We were given pre-used salt, pepper and condiment containers at breakfast but I did notice pre-packaged single use condiments on the buffet and the ketchup with dinner was served in a ramekin. Servers re-used pens and presented bills in check presenters. I also did not see many hand sanitizer stations (I will admit, those that I did see were subtle and could have been missed.) I felt safe enough, but do think cleaning, sanitizing and other safety measures should have been more visible and obvious (the host could have done a better job cleaning tables in-between dinner guests, for instance.) Housekeeping did not service the rooms during our stay (which is common these days) and I appreciated the wrapped-in-plastic TV remotes and coffee cups. Note that rooms are available in the main part of the hotel or in the adjacent "lodges" which are set up like townhouses. Valet parking, ample self-parking, and a lovely downtown with quaint shops, coffee bars, and restaurants. Overall, a wonderful mini-vacation with a spectacular view, beautiful grounds, two pools and a historic vibe.

I was a little apprehensive before arriving, due to Covid; This was my first vacation since the pandemic. I apologize for not remembering any names, but, everyone was great! From check in to check out! When we arrived, we were greeted with a bag of apple cider and homemade cookies....our room was spotless!....and I check for everything! I was so comfortable there! They were more than happy to give us anything and everything we needed. Everyone wore masks and gloves and I had no worries about anything! Breakfast was included in our stay ....and there was plenty! Even the coffee was great! When we left, we were given a very large homemade, yummy apple pie! I could’ve stayed forever!

As with some others , I feel the need to write a positive review in response to some of the negative comments on here. We stayed at The Sagamore the week of Labor Day with my two toddlers and their grandparents. Overall, we had an amazing time. There were a few negatives, but nothing big enough to take away from the great experience. We stayed in a lodge condo. Very spacious, clean, and lovely lake views off the two balconies. We were pleased to have a full kitchen which we stocked from the nearby Tops Market. My kids loved playing at the Rec center, on the playground, and walking the Nature Trail. We all loved the little beach near the lake and the tubes provided were fun for everyone. We only used the outdoor pool as the weather was perfect. We didn't find it crowded at all. There were plenty of empty lounge chairs and there didn't seem to be more than 10 people in the pool at any given time. Poolside drink and food servers were very attentive and the pool food was decent. We at nearly every meal at the resort restaurants. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Service was a bit slow and some of the waitstaff had major attitudes, but it seems they are trying their best to deal with COVID regulations, which can't be easy. Lunch near the lake was nice, although we were disappointed to find that the Lakeside restaurant was closed on most weekdays. Dinner at Bella Vita was also great, and dinner at Mr. Brown's Pub was the real highlight (really great wings, burgers, and an excellent turkey club). Also disappointed that the Pub was only open on weekends, as it was definitely the best place for kids. The major disappointment for my kids was that we were informed upon check-in that there would be a campfire with s'mores every night. Unfortunately, those seem to have ended after Labor Day. We spent about an hour searching for the fire on Tuesday evening, only to finally ask the front desk and be told that, despite the welcome letter stating that the campfire would run every night, it does not run on weekdays after Labor Day. Major, major bummer for my two s'more loving toddlers. Again, overall a great time. We plan to return and stay in the same type of condo!

Dear KerryH283, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and also for taking the time to post a review. I was thrilled to see that overall you had an "amazing time"! We thank you for recognizing the efforts of all the associates that have worked tirelessly to make it happen! In years past following the Labor Day holiday we would transition to more of a group house mid week. As you saw that is not the case and we are constantly adapting and changing. As of this writing through the Columbus day weekend we will have a bonfire with smore's each night. Many families are still with us doing remote learning so we want to be able to still have those amenities available. I apologize that there was confusion during your stay. Best part of your review is that you plan to return which we truly appreciate! Thank you and Sincerely, Tom Guay
