Lodges suites are spacious with beautiful winter views of the lake. Large bathrooms, compared to small bathrooms in main hotel. Water pressure good. Sound proofing not so good. Dinner in pub was fine, atmosphere better. Breakfast buffet was spectacular with beautiful setting. Nice convention facilities and exercise room full of equipment.

Just OK, no value here! Depends on what you want out of an extremely expensive vacation. If you want to enjoy beautiful scenery, good food and sit around doing poor to mediocre activities if any at all then this is your place. The food is very good but limited selection and EXTREMELY expensive. The drinks are the same EXTREMELY expensive. Th e rooms, bedding, towels, common areas are exceptional. But that's where it ends, don't expect anything else. Family of six checks in, only two bottles of water in the room. Only 4 towels, two robes which do not fit larger guests....See what I'm getting at, complete disregard for the details. Personally, I want a smile with meaning behind it. I don't want the entertainment staff on their phones or watching shows on the computer in the rec center. They couldn't careless about the guests and the games/activities they organize. Bingo on laminated paper with cut out pieces of paper to cover the board, only one game played three times in a row (Ridiculous), Free throw contest only one round and done in 20 minutes. Whiffle ball bat is broken and taped with duct tape. Balls disappear and are not replaced. Vending machines broken so you can't get a drink except from a water fountain. The REC center as a whole is there for you to do all the things you could do at home, NOTHING special about it. By far the worst display of an entertainment staff I have ever seen. The ghost tour, maybe 30 minutes of your lucky. Sounded as if it was thrown together that morning. Didn't even tour the main areas where the activity was. POOR effort. Indoor pool was nice except for the window being open to control humidity so you were freezing cold a minute after exiting the pool from the cool air. No activities, no balls to throw around, no drink service, NADA, poor effort. Outdoor hot pool, couldn't be used unless you risked walking over ice covered paths in 20 degree weather. Front desk staff is surly and just BLAH, not rude or anything like that but they enjoy spending their days hiding in the back room. They made us make reservations for the restaurant but it turned out to be 90% empty, seriously, know your numbers. Props to a couple of people who salvaged the trip: The older gentlemen driving the shuttle was very nice. The young guy at Valet from Cortland was very helpful and nice. The maintenance guy who came to fix our TV was a nice guy and gets what customer service is meant to be. Thank goodness it wasn't busy. I can't imagine waiting in line for anything at this place when they are busy. This place is stuck in the last century and needs a major, personality and staff adjustment. For as beautiful as it is what is going on there is a travesty. Hospitality is dead when you reach into your pocket every hour!

We take the kids a couple of times a winter and they love the indoor pool. It is beautiful. This weekend they told us the hot tub was being repaired but the outdoor warming pool was 93 degrees. They also had heated igloos you could use beside the pool. We have been coming here for years and this was the first time we saw the pool heated and open in the winter. Amazing being out on the lake in a heated pool. Incredible views. The staff, as always, was great.

We were most fortunate to stay here Christmas for two days, following 3 days at their sister property, the Lake Placid Lodge. The grounds and main buildings were professionally and tastefully decorated for the holidays. We especially enjoyed the white themed lobby. The views walking down from the terraces to the lake were breathtaking, even with a slight breeze in the air. This was our second time visiting during the holiday, this time we chose a comfortable lower lodge, ideal for our dog’s access outside, full kitchen, and spacious living area with full kitchen. We dined in Caldwell's for lunch, La Bella Vita for Christmas dinner and Mr. Browns for dinner our last evening. The food and service were all on point, just like our last trip. Special thanks to the La Bella Vita Dining Room Manager, who shared he has been there 18 years, I mentioned his dad took great care of us at the Lake Placid Lodge. The Emporium shop is located just off Caldwells and offers a variety of logoed apparel and local items. All four of us had new Spa hydro therapy facials which were simply the best ever! Elizabeth the provider and Johanna at reception both provided memorable service. Our kids used the extensive Fitness Center and pool, both very clean and well maintained. The Rec Center was huge, offering something for everyone. The historic charm of this legendary resort could be felt watching other families smiling during our stay. Sagamore Resort will continue to be at the very top of our go to holiday escape, with passionate service and friendly, attentive service.

Booked a stay to celebrate my 11 year anniversary with my wife and to start a family tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving with our kids, parents, and inlaws. At first, we were disappointed to be booked in a lodge that was furthest from the main hotel building, but, fortunately, the hotel's shuttle service is prompt and was never a long wait. Our lodge's room is a bit outdated and definitely can use an upgrade. The scheduled activities in the hotel for the holiday (i.e. meet and greet with Santa, Thanksgiving dinner, etc) were all great. Disappointments were the Peloton bikes in the hotel gym, the hotel hot tub being closed unexpectedly for our entire stay, and the hotel's outdoor heated pool being closed after only being able to use it one time. Developed a very bad rash/burn on my body due to the outdoor heated pool being over chlorinated. Apparently, the pool's sensor was incorrectly saying the pool's chlorine level was low, but it wasn't, and then too much chlorine was added to the pool. As for the gym, I was excited to see that the hotel had Peloton bikes in its gym, brought my Peloton cleats, but was disappointed to see that the bike's toe cage does not connect to Peloton cleats.

Dear Brad Sharon, Thank you for choosing The Sagamore for your Anniversary and to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family. I was pleased to see that you enjoyed the holiday activities and was able to use our island shuttle for getting around. It also goes into town as well. The Peloton bikes have the cage on one side of the pedal and a clip on the other. Your comment was the first of that nature and we will look to see if there is a difference with a home peloton vs. commercial. Your other comments are important to us and we always want to hear every concern a guest will have. We do hope a tradition is started. Thank you again and Happy Holidays. Sincerely, Tom Guay

It has been my dream to get married at The Sagamore ever since I was a little girl. I have been coming to Lake George for the past 22 years and always found the hotel to be unbelievably historic and beautiful. We got married here September 25, 2022 and it was hands down the best day of my life. Our wedding manager/coordinator Danielle Breda was absolutely incredible and made our day so special. She was in contact with us throughout the entire journey. She answered every question, concern and anxious thought we had that popped up. Day off, we unfortunately experienced heavy rainfall that forced us to relocate to the patio ceremony which was just as beautiful and incredible of an experience. Although this part of the day was slightly stressful, she provided us with solutions and prevented the stress of the weather take over our special day. Everyone at the resort worked as a team to produce an excellent day and night for us. Between the chefs, waiters, and the staff, my dream wedding came true. Thanks again to every at the Sagamore and we can't wait to be returning for the rest of our lives!!

Combination of hotel and mini-lodge style accommodations on the waterfront of Lake George. Hotel rooms are small and not well maintained. Our refrigerator buzzed and the air conditioning/heating unit sounded like a jet engine. We couldn't even turn it off in the room without someone from engineering manually turning it off. Cheapest nightly stay is $500/night in a tiny room compared to other US hotels of similar price. Most accommodations are $1000 or more per night. Hotel food is very average and overpriced with the exception of the Breakfast buffet (all you can eat for $25 pp). Bolton Landing has several restaurants to choose from but they are not good value to price points either. Folks from NY area seem to adore this place for eating/drinking and holding weddings (only a 4 hour drive from the city). Not much in the way of fall outdoor activities except for golf which was one of the few highlights. Lake George is pretty but there are other lakes in the US worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I’ve stayed at a lot of places recently that have been short on staff always saying because of covid. At the Sagamore there were lots of staff all working very hard. Landscapers, shuttle drivers, wait/cleaning staff. All working very hard and all except one incredibly professional and friendly. The cleaning staff did a great job everyday on our room. We paid the extra (which I grumbled about) for the one bedroom, water view room. I do not regret that decision. Loved having the kitchen and separate bedroom for some space, rather than having the hotel feel, it felt more like an apartment. Our one exception was a server in the dining room. He seemed professional just maybe not suited to be a waiter. No time management skills. His lack of ability might explain the other complaints I saw. He really was terrible. We sat down well before the tables around us. As soon as I sat down I ordered an omelette instead of going to the buffet. Since we ate here the day before I knew exactly what I wanted and did not want to overeat with the buffet. At the same time I ordered coffee for my husband and he went up to the buffet. He finished eating and there still wasn’t any coffee or my omelette. I asked another waiter for coffee who replied I’ll tell your server. I knew it would still be a while so I went to the lobby and I got him the coffee and it it was still a little while later when our waiter showed up with a cup of coffee. After I got my husband his coffee I gave up on waiting for my omelette. I asked the hostess to let our server know to cancel my omelette. I went to the Buffett and got my own omelette. A little while later they brought out my order. With an “oh did it take a long time”. In the mean time the people all around us had finished and left. I watched the rest of the waitstaff all around us work very hard and stayed on top of things. We never saw our waiter. BTW included with the buffet would be juice. No one ever offered any to us. If you would like juice, ask. I truly believe all but our waiter was excellent. Back to the positive. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed the fire pit and s’mores by the rec center and we even played a little mini golf. The staff at the rec center were really friendly too. Also enjoyed the boat ride on the Morgan with views of the narrows, even had an eagle sighting.

We do have a talented and dedicated team and it is always nice to be recognized. Thank you again and please hurry back! Sincerely, Tom Guay

My husband's family had a tradition of visiting Sagamore when he was a kid, so about 5 years ago we decided to pick it back up. Every year we book 3 rooms in the early summer and have a grand time making memories with 3 generations. It has always been really special. Sadly, I think this year - we're booked for Christmas this time - will be our last. We have noticed a real dip since the pandemic and the inflated costs and hassle in booking just aren't worth it anymore. To management, please consider these changes in your booking process to make your policies reflect most other hotels, and just about every other business: 1) Booking rooms - there should 100% be a way to book multiple rooms at a time without having to call or make several reservations back to back. I know you all have a lot of groups and extended families traveling together. Booking one at a time scatters us everywhere and results in annoying lengthy phone calls and juggling many confirmation numbers etc. Every time. 2) Just suck it up and roll all your extra fees INTO the price of the room. Seeing an extra $300 on the total aside from room fees ticks me off every time. And the rates just keep creeping up, not the resort fee isn't just $40, but $40 AND 7%?? Why? You come across as shady and slippery trying to sneak in nonsense charges when we're already spending thousands on the room. 3) And this is just standard business practice - gift cards should be an actual method of payment at the time of booking. Period. It's a gift card!!!! That's how they work - as legal tender for the business you are purchasing from. Your policy of making me book rooms on my card, then be charged for those rooms prior to my stay, then get refunded for the rooms a week after my stay is absolutely ludicrous. Each of your gift cards also has serial number on it - why would it not be cancelable/replaceable?? I have not lost mine and don't intend to, but now I'm extra nervous about just having it in my wallet. We were going to buy a gift card for my mother in law for Christmas and all come again in the summer, but that will not be happening. 4) The $50 deposit (per room because you can't book multiple rooms on a reservation) is absurd. If we have to cancel, and do it in the required time frame, there is no reason it should cost us $150. For what? You didn't do anything! 5) Place the link to be able to cancel or modify your reservation within the confirmation email. I don't want to call to rebook 3 separate rooms, with 3 separate confirmation numbers etc. Your booking software is not up to snuff and should be much more user friendly for folks to be able to change and modify their reservations. Get with the times, it's not 1995 anymore! We will be finding a new hotel to make memories at. You have lost long time loyal customers and given the amount of people who come, I doubt you really care, but thought you should know. Farewell.

I am a local resident who wanted to take a friend from Ca. there for lunch. I might also add that she owns a hotel in Ca. I was told that there was a $20.00 parking fee unless you are a guest there. I find that offensive. You have to spend $20.00 to spend an exorbitant amount of money on lunch and to visit the gift shop. I don't think so. So, I decided to see if we could ride up the driveway so she could at least see it and was told they was not allowed unless we paid the $20.00. Needless to say, we passed, and she did not get to see the resort. Too bad because it really gave us a bad feeling about the entire experience. This is not a way to do business. I have had lunch there before this fee went into effect, guess will be dining there again.
