Detailed Reviews
Very nice house and Kathy and her daughters were very nice and accommodating.
House and room were very clean and bathroom was new. Kathy gave us maps for hiking and gave us recommendations for dinner. When we didn't know how to work the TV, Kathy came to our room and got it working.
Everyone was Covid conscious; there was hand sanitizer around and breakfast was served at individual tables (it was too cold to sit on the porch). Breakfast was home made and delicious and Kathy asked if we had any dietary restrictions.
The location is very good, very private, but a car ride away from wineries and restaurants. There are also places to walk on the grounds.
We hope to be back in the future.

You certainly picked a good weekend to get away. We are so happy you enjoyed your time here. Fall is my favorite season and the colors this year are great. Hope to see you again sometime. Best Wishes, Kathy, Susie and Kati

We just returned from another restful and relaxing stay at the Dominion House. The beautiful, charming home and gorgeous grounds (love the pool!), absolutely delicious breakfast, and warm proprietors won us over years ago. We first came as a dating couple, returned multiple times with friends and family, and now love to stay here with our toddler son. (We were fearful at first, but despite the historic home Kathy and Joe are as kid-friendly as could be and have let our active toddler make himself right at home. He loves running in their giant field of freshly mowed grass and spotting chipmunks, rabbits, deer, and turkeys). We love spending long, lazy days on the spacious back deck and on the chaise lounges under the umbrellas on the pool patio.
Particularly now, given the current climate, we were fearful of traveling but Kathy and Joe are handling social distancing so seamlessly. There are very few guests at a time, masks are required in the indoor common areas, and the outstanding breakfasts are as delicious as ever but are now served at separate tables for separate groups. (For a small additional fee we used the grill on the back deck and made a delicious dinner!)
We look forward to returning just as soon as we can.

My family was very happy staying here for two nights when we visited Storm King (15 minute drive away). The house—beautiful, clean, and quiet—has been in the family for many years. The library is set up for reading and sipping coffee or tea and offers a refrigerator for guests to use. The kind and thoughtful host was very welcoming when we arrived, gave us a tour of the house and the outside pool area, and made recommendations for places to eat dinner. She cooked delicious breakfasts both mornings. I highly recommend The Dominion House.!

Perfect, Kathy and Joe are excellent hosts. I requested that a bouquet of red roses be in our room upon our arrival and Kathy took care of it. I asked if my daughter can stay over in case she visits from college and Kathy switched me to the larger room and brought in another bed! And their breakfasts were amazing! We liked it there so much that we extended our stay! Cannot recommend the Dominion House enough!

Our son's wedding reception was held at The Dominion House in early June. With extended family coming from all over the country, our hosts, Susie and Eric, were incredibly accommodating and provided a wonderful place for several of us to "land" during all the set up activities and the event itself. From the endless attention to detail in each room of the inn to the incredible food, sweeping farm landscape, beautiful horses, and pristine pool, our experience could not have been any better. Between wedding activities we were able to relax by the pool and reminisced with family in front of the outdoor fire each evening. The impressive library was a favorite gathering place for pre-breakfast coffee. Breakfasts were beyond compare with Susie's homemade scones and muffins coupled with a variety of fresh fruit and other tasty creations. It was the perfect venue for our special celebration and both Eric and Susie went out of their way to support us. With an abundance of nearby activities and access to trails right from the property, this Hudson Valley gem can also serve as a complete retreat for quiet and tranquility or a relaxing home base to refresh between adventures.

+1
My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice quiet getaway and we could not have found a better place to be. Kathy, Susie, Eric and Leanne were all extremely helpful and welcoming. The library was absolutely incredible and is where we spent a lot of our time. Like the other reviews state the scones were out of this world and Susies homemade zucchini bread was to die for. The pool was perfect for the hot weather and we enjoyed playing pool at night time with a bottle of wine. We can’t wait to come back in the fall! Thanks for a great trip! :)

As mentioned in the other reviews here, as well as the official description... Wonderful, historic old house, well maintained and preserved, and decorated with many interesting artifacts, and local artist paintings (most for sale). Hosts Susie and Eric are gracious and welcoming. Delicious home cooked breakfasts. Quiet location off the beaten path, but really not far away by car from many local attractions, or urban destinations like Newburgh. Well appointed clean rooms; included with your stay is access to amenities: pool, hot tub, billiards table and chess board, and a sitting room with a huge comprehensive library. Room rates are competitive with local area 2 & 3 star motels and hotels.

My wife and I enjoyed an extremely nice stay last weekend for a nearby wedding. Our hosts, Susie and Eric, struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and invisibility. They seemed to have thought of everything that a guest might need -- the sense of being welcome in their home was a real treat. The inn and the grounds were very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the outdoors, and the friendly horses were an extra bonus. Breakfast was truly outstanding on both days. and we enjoyed the ambiance and authenticity of the historic home. Thanks for a great visit!

Our stay at The Dominion House Bed & Breakfast marked the first time I and a friend had stayed at a B&B. We were incredibly impressed by the hospitality of, and the ambiance created by, Kathy and Joe. We felt at home and welcomed yet still left to our own devices. The details and comfort of the building and grounds allowed a calm to settle over us. That was exactly what we hoped to find.Â
The region surrounding The Dominion House offers much to anyone; the local winery, the Hudson Riverfront in Newburgh, the rolling hills, and more beckon for daily excursions. We are already planning our next visit. Thank You Kathy and Joe for a truly happy time. We will see you again.Â

Let the Dominion House transport you to a simpler time, in a picturesque landscape that epitomizes the heart of the Hudson valley. Susie and Eric are delightfully pleasant hosts, and the estate itself looks like something out of a movie (it actually was featured in one!). The rolling hills, gentle horses, and aroma of flowers enhance the experience. The house is a quaint and ornately decorated residence, with tons of history, a pool, a pool table, a jacuzzi and, most importantly, a parlour room with books from all different time periods and ample tea for you to pass hours in quiet enjoyment. If you're looking for an escape or just a relaxing weekend, look no further. Don't tell too many people, though - I want there to be a room available when I come back!
Oh, and before I forget - they serve breakfast! It was nothing short of divine.

Yes the Old Dominion house is in a perfect location to go to the wineries. We went to the Brotherhood winery which was only a 10 minute drive and it was beautiful.
