This is what any overseas visitor would expect from a true English country estate dining experience. Think Downton Abbey, and you can begin to imagine the absolutely fantastic architecture and interior of Hartwell House. Plus, you have a stunningly kept park to make the setting perfect. There are so many rooms available to the restaurant that you can have pre-dinner... More

We stayed for two nights on 19th and 20th July 16 in room 23. The Hotel was very pleasant and all staff were very helpful. Our room which was on floor 2, we found to be very pleasant with air con, and of a reasonable side, two good size single beds together and a nice bathroom with good instant hotwater,... More

Stayed here for three nights over Easter as a family (2 adults and 2 children). Greeted by the porter at the door who dealt with our bags and delivered us to our room. We had a 2 room suite which was decorated country house style, maybe a bit worn but perfectly in keeping with the rest of the hotel, we... More

We stayed at Hartwell House in July - on our 10 year wedding anniversary. I have to say this is a really special place. After staying in so many modern hotels, to choose a place like this, an aptly titled 'historic hotel', really is a fantastic experience. From booking the hotel, through to the welcome we got when we arrived,... More

My wife and I booked a long weekend, Saturday pm. to Monday am. in a Hartwell Court Suite. These suites are a few steps away from the main building in the original stable block and right next to the spa. There is a mini kitchen for tea and coffee making which supplements the room service (breakfast included). We enjoyed walking... More

Bad service, no atmosphere, accused of walking out without paying for a extra tea and also accused of putting a sticker on for a Bottle of Champagne, what a joke, did they think we had gone to Wilkinson and brought a pack of stickers and put one on ourselves??

MACJohnson, General Manager at Hartwell House, responded to this review

We were pleased to welcome these guests for afternoon tea for two, who brought with them on the day an afternoon gift voucher for one. The difference in price was settled by way of telephone payment after the visit. Confusion has arisen both for our guests and the hotel because of the curious addition of a homemade sticker stating, “champagne... More

Just had a night away at Hartwell House and found it to be a mixed experience. The Reception staff and experience was nice and team helpful The bedroom we had was nice without being great, perfectly reasonable for the price. Dinner was pleasant in nice surroundings and the service was good. My main frustrations come from quite simple things. 1.... More

Just stayed at Hartwell House & Spa as a surprise weekend. This is a beautiful house with fantastic grounds, 5 star treatment from the friendly staff. A beautiful dinner in a beautiful setting. The spa facilities were lovely with a beautiful swimming pool and steam room with an outside area. Sadly the outside jacuzzi was out of order during our... More

I love this place. Upgraded to a room that was bigger than my house! Dinner was divine and so was breakfast. Nothing too much trouble. Superb and would heartily recommend. The turn down service was a nice touch too, the maid was so friendly I ended up having a lovely chat. Visit here!!!!

Hartwell house is a stunning period property, with a fascinating history, and beautiful grounds. Despite the finery, it is a real pleasure to stay there, with everything done very well indeed, but without the formality and stuffiness you can sometimes have in similar properties. We stayed in the Queen's room which is a beautiful room, and the drawing and dining... More
