I visited on my own for 2 nights. The staff were attentive and provided everything wanted. Our guides were very knowledgeable and took us on great safaris, so we saw lots of animals and birds, they also explained lots of local culture and gave us some demonstrations of dancing and weaving with grass. The food is very good, they will...

Dear Sjontaela, Thank you for your wonderful feedback, we are delighted to see how much you enjoyed your time with us and especially your time spent learning about the local culture and getting to experience a taste of true, “African hospitality”. This was our second camp and concession on our trip located in the northern extreme of the Okavango Delta with an ecotone between the wetland and dryland. This is a community based camp where staff is recruited and trained which creates a positive philanthropic aspect to the camp. This concession is both land and water based so you get to...

The place is breathtaking with its open-air design overlooking a swamp / pond with hippos. We were thrilled when elephants literally walked through the camp one day. We were within feet of the elephants but very safe because of the elevated design. The animals we saw on the drives were great and quite varied. The rooms themselves are open air...

Dear Ed T, Thank you for your fabulous review, we are sorry to hear about your discomfort during the dining periods of your stay and will definitely discuss this with management and camp staff. The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding Vumbura Plains are locally referred to as 'melapo' and offer good seasonal viewing of elephant, giraffe, impala,...

Vumbura Plains Camps (both north and south) have to be of the most beautiful safari lodges I have been to. Such luxury in accommodation, amazing space with large lounge area, private viewing deck and plunge pool. The concession is also beautiful - one of my favorites in the Delta, with excellent game viewing and bird watching.

Phenomenal luxury camp in Botswana. Outstanding service. Food is great. The rooms are huge with a plunge pool for each room. The people make the place and the people here are so accommodating. The game viewing is also amazing. There are large numbers of animals and hard not to see everything. North or South doesn't really matter - really a...

Dear Jeff B, Thank you for your wonderful response, we are overjoyed to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and are so glad to hear that the staff played a big role in influencing your enjoyment. We are in Vumbura North and we basically never saw any of the guests staying at Vumbura South. We occupy four of the seven rooms, giving us a lot of privacy and the ability to make our own schedule. We spent four nights in this wonderful place, the first of three Wilderness Safaris camps we visited. The accommodation, food, staff and game viewing were superb. Our guide, OB, was extremely knowledgeable about the animals, birds and the bush and was an enthusiastic teacher. It set a very high standard for the other camps to follow.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Vumbura Plains, a luxurious retreat of contemporary design, seems to float on a sea of waving reeds in the midst of a large floodplain. The sumptuous rooms, each with its own plunge pool and sala, are uniquely designed, spacious and raised on wooden decks to take in a wide-angled vista. Because the area is a mix of water and dry land, wildlife is diverse, so water-loving lechwe splash through the reeds, while rare sable antelope can be seen in the dry savannah. Lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, wild dog and buffalo along with plains game and prolific birds provide an excellent all-round wildlife experience. • 14 tents • 100% solar • day and night game drives • village visit • mokoro • boat • nature walks • catch-and-release fishing • spa ... more   less
