Loved every minute of my stay. The staff is some of the best and most attentive (but not annoying) that I have encountered. The game drives and sundowners were brilliant and we loved the mokoro's. The only thing we didn't see up close on the game drive was the hippo's. Fortunately, they came walking through the camp (close enough to...

We stayed here a year and a half ago, and when the opportunity arose to choose camps on a two-camp stay, we quickly chose to return to Vumbura Plains. We were not disappointed. Lops the manager was there with his staff to greet us on arrival. Lops was the manager during our previous visit, and remembered us! Lops, Chris and...

Vumbura Plains South is a classic camp in more ways than one! Situated in the north east of the Delta the water, landscape and game were outstanding. The service is friendly, food delicious and accommodation luxurious and beautiful. The decking walkways ensure you were somewhat safe from wandering wildlife while still able to enjoy a close encounter of elephant and...

Dear Chadpond, Thank you for your wonderful review, we are delighted to see that you enjoyed your time with us as much as we enjoyed having you stay. It can get very hot during the summer months but this past summer managed to break all kinds of records, sadly to ours and our wonderful guest’s discomfort. We are glad however,...

This was hands down the best game viewing we have experienced. The camp itself bills itself as luxurious and it is nice, but it misses the mark in term of staff friendliness and room maintenance. But what it lacks here it makes up for by the quality of the guides and the abundance of wildlife.

An amazing camp that ticks all the boxes for comfort, bare foot luxury, food, service and first class game viewing. Words cannot describe the lodge with its spectacular setting and decor. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Vumbura Plains, a luxurious retreat of contemporary design, seems to float on a sea of waving reeds in the midst of a large floodplain. The sumptuous rooms, each with its own plunge pool and sala, are uniquely designed, spacious and raised on wooden decks to take in a wide-angled vista. Because the area is a mix of water and dry land, wildlife is diverse, so water-loving lechwe splash through the reeds, while rare sable antelope can be seen in the dry savannah. Lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, wild dog and buffalo along with plains game and prolific birds provide an excellent all-round wildlife experience. • 14 tents • 100% solar • day and night game drives • village visit • mokoro • boat • nature walks • catch-and-release fishing • spa ... more   less
