We had two nights here as the second stop in our trip through Botswana. It was very different to Chobe and to Leroo La Tau but because of its position in the delta it was quite refreshing being on water as opposed to land. The ability also to do a short walking safari was also great. Being serenaded into dinner...

Camp Okavango was the final safari location after a 3 week stay in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. It was different than all the others because of the location in the Okavango Delta. The canoe trip and walks trough the islands made me feel that I had returned to the beginning of time and this was what life was like...

We had 3 nights here - 2 was plenty really. On the plus side the 'Mokoro' punt around the shallows with waterlilies, frogs and silence was sublime and the motorised boat trips through the papyrus exhilarating with crocs, hippos and kingfishers etc. The change of venue - ie out on boats and not trucks was a nice change but the...

You feel like part of the family at Camp Okavango. There is no mobile coverage, no tv or wifi, but it is a fantastic nature experience. You feel like an explorer in Africa. Food and drinks are exceptional good out here in the Delta.

The people here were so kind and knowledgeable. The staff was always willing to go above and beyond to make you comfortable/happy. The location was beautiful and the wildlife was diverse and plentiful. I even saw a leopard walk through camp one night! Amazing experience. Go go go!

Our second camp and totally different, being based entirely on the water or on foot which made a great contrast to Leroo La Tau and Chobe. Obed our guide was very knowledgable and helpful. Our first activity was a moroko ride followed by Sundowner, and walk to the camp.. within feet of giraffes! The following morning the highlight of our...

this was a great place to finish my 3 week safari..super relaxing surroundings, but also busy. the food and entertainment was wonderful, as was the safaris with nothing too much bother if we wanted another safari. in fact we heard lions in the night and Oaty our guide raced us back twice when they had spotted them near the camp...

We stayed at Camp O for 3 nights. The accommodation and food were excellent but what made the stay the most memorable were the people. The guides and all of the staff were lovely. They answered our myriad questions about the animals, the Delta and about their lives as well. Camp O and that part of Botswana has left a...

We had been to three other game parks, Chobe, Etosha and Sabi Sand, and they were very good. But Camp Okavango was so different and we enjoyed it immensely. The staff were excellent, and their choir performance was the tops....unfortunately they have not produced a CD yet. Also, the food was the best of all the places we were visited...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are very pleased to announce that the NEW Camp Okavango has officially opened 14 April 2016. The entire camp has been rebuilt and what has been the existing camp has been removed completely. Camp Okavango, due to its very unique location in the heart of the Okavango Delta, is one of the very few properties which can truly offer an authentic Okavango Delta water wilderness experience to prospective visitors. Camp Okavango is a stalwart of Botswana and Okavango Delta safari tradition. Camp Okavango is located on Nxaragha Island, which is surrounded by water all year round. This is a permanent water camp and the ideal location from which guests who truly want to experience the real Okavango Delta can do so. Accommodation is in spacious, elevated and unique safari suites, all raised on decks above the ground and with en-suite bathrooms. There are 11 standard safari suites and one double capacity, inter-leading family suite. Activities are all guided and take the form of boat cruises, mokoro excursions and guided walking safaris on the network of islands within this incredible water ecosystem. Camp Okavango has its own airstrip and can easily be linked to a network of other safari properties by means of light aircraft transfers. Camp Okavango is Managed and staffed by an enthusiastic team of Botswana citizens, some of whom have been at Camp Okavango for more than 36 years. Elevated walkways will connect the rooms to one another and to the main camp public areas, allowing guests to wind through trees as they walk to their rooms. The safari suites encompass a foyer and lounge, large bedroom and ensuite bathroom equipped with double vanity and shower, with an expansive deck accessible through large retractable doors from the room. The family suite has an additional bedroom with separate entree to the bathroom area. ... more   less
