Totally bowled over by my recent trip to and stay at Macatoo with African Horseback Safaris! Horses & rides, guides, terrain, food, tents, comfort, support, friendship - everything! The trip in across the delta in a six-seater plane from Maun, and arrival by water to the camp was magical in itself. More experienced riders will thrive on the fast &... More

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Botswana, including a 3 night stay at Macatoo. I am a rider and had the most fantastic time, riding 3 horses Kakuma, Guinness and Star. My riding companions and guides were Marie, Brigette and Nadine (from France) and our expert guides Sekongo and Scorpion. My non-rider husband also had an amazing... More

Fantastic place, warm friendly people and a place to have fun. Delicious food and plenty of g&t's! The riding is fast in the morning and slow in the afternoon. A trip to the island for a night is a must. Lots of game viewings, elephant, hippo and giraffe are plentiful. Chance to see more by vehicle and makoros. I would... More

This amazing holiday starts with staff singing to you as you arrive. You are tired from the long journey but immediately wake up to the thought of the evening ride. The tent is spectacular although I was happy that mine was closest to the centre. You appreciate that the camp really is situated in the middle of the animals habitat.... More

I had extremely high expectations of Macatoo Camp and they were all exceeded! The setting, the horses, the game and the staff were all fantastic! Cantering with Giraffes and Zebra through the water is an experience I will remember forever! The guides are exceptionally knowledgeable and the horses were forward going, responsive, extremely fit and well cared for. Nothing was... More

My hubby and I spent a week with the brilliant Macatoo team in March of this year and it really was the trip of a lifetime. I'm an average rider and was initially worried that I'd be a bit out of my depth, but the horses are first class and the horse team make sure you've got the best horses... More

I came with the highest expectations which were completely satisfied. Tents are absolutely luxurious with all amenities and spectacular views of the Delta. Tasty meals were sometimes served at unexpected places. Staff members were always helpful and friendly and great fun to talk to. Guides were highly competent and made the most spectacular experiences possible. Horses are perfectly kept and... More

From the moment you greet your pilot for your short flight into the Delta from Maun until you wave him good-bye at the end of your holiday, everthing is perfect. After flying into the airstrip we drove to the camp, giving us a chance to absorb the scenery and spot some animals and birds. The camp has a great layout... More

5 * all the way :) The quick flip from Maun into camp was scenic and fun... On arrival in the GVV we were greated by the female staff singing to us and were handed cool towels to clean our hands. Our tent which was closest to the main tent was perfectly decorated with everything we needed and WHAT a... More

Stayed at Macatoo for 6 nights in November 2012. First experience with Botswana, Okavango and horseback riding in such an environment. I would consider myself as an intermediate rider with a passion for horses and nature, but with a bit of lack of experiences in regard to riding. So i was a bit anxious about the riding level. I ended... More
