For me it was the first time to stay in the Makgadikgadi Pans and it was a wonderful experience. I spent 3 lovely nights there. I saw amazing wildlife with the knowledgeable guide Bones and loved to see the meerkats, an aardwolf and avbrown hyena with her cups. One of the highlights was the walk with bushmen. Also very interesting was the presentation of Kristine (PHD Biology, working for the NGO ‚Elephants for Africa‘) who explained the problems between the farmers and the elephants. This NGO is focused on understanding the social and ecological requirements of both elephants and human living in this system. The staff is very friendly and I really felt welcome. The meals were delicious and the sleeping tents were simple, but comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay!

This was the friendliest camp, with the best food and super talented guide - Mr Bones. The Makgadikgadi salt pans are amazing. Our highlights were walking with Meerkats, seeing a brown hyena feeding her cubs, a zillion zebra and amazing birds - some of whom had migrated here from Hampshire. The accommodation was basic, although adequate, but the communal areas were super. Guests and staff mixed convivially each evening, sharing the triumphs of the day over a delicious supper. Vegetarian food was fresh and very tasty.

I had a fantastic time with lots of meerkat experience and a great time with the people from the Camp. The game drives where extra-ordinary good and made a lot of fun. We saw so many different wild life – great! The sun downer where amazing and gave a good time to relax. I liked the huge tent with attached bathroom all covered with Mosquito nets (with all you need, safe, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, dry cleaning, mosquito repellent). The morning coffee brought to the tent, made the early wake up endurable. The tents are far away from each other so you can enjoy the sound of the Kalahari during the night. The food was delicious and to sit all together on one big table made the stay even more cozy. I had a lot of good conversation during my stay. The environment was nicely furbished and in very good shape. The drink selection was excellent as well as the afternoon teatime. The pool has a good size to refresh and sit afterwards in the shade and relax. Thanks to Bones and the Team from Camp Kalahari I had a great start of my vacation. Getting to the plane we bumped into Ralph at the Airstrip and this was a special moment in my life, he is such a charismatic and great person I am still swept of my feet. I can recommend this Camp 100% also specially for people traveling alone.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here; each cabin is pretty well separated, so you feel privacy; the main lodge area is nice, with lots of nice beverages, including wines, amarula, beers, other liquors, soft drinks, etc. The meals were nciely prepared and flavorful, very enjoyable to try things including game meats and well-crafted soups and desserts. But the best part was the staff - everyone was wonderfully helpful, friendly, and also very skilled - our guide, for example, was fantastic, so knowledgeable about everything from the stars to geology to the local flora and fauna. We also really enjoyed our time with San folks who took us, with our guide, on a bush walk and taught us a lot. Highly recommended, especially if we want to see meerkats (there are local troops who are acclimated to people and will tolerate some presence)

This is a camp situated in the Kalahari desert of mid Botswana. The property itself does not qualify for a five star status as the pool area was riddled with bird poo and the water unclean , rooms comfortable but not 5 star. However , the entire staff ,including , our guide Oyappu were extremely friendly and very helpful . The meals were exceptional and at the end of the day we had a great experience of living in the African desert . Our guide was one of the most knowledgeable we have come across . He was so astute in knowing exactly where the game was . We saw some amazing wildlife with him including lion kills and night drives into the desert . Our highlights were walking with the bushmen and visiting the meerkat family . Warning . mornings can be chilly esp. the months of September / October !

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us this review. We really appreciate your feedback. Camp Kalahari is the 'little sister' camp of our Makgadikgadi collection, which also includes the very well known San Camp and Jack's Camp. The camp is designed to be more laid back and family friendly than the higher end San and Jack's, and the price point does reflect this. It's never been about five stars, it's been about experience and making the most of the incredible surroundings you find yourself in, with a friendly and efficient team to back you up in a comfortable and stylish camp. It certainly sounds as though you were able to make the most of everything on offer here, and we hope to be able to welcome you back into camp before too long. Kind regards, Pru - Camp Kalahari marketing team
