Our long week-end was actually booked for July, but due to unforeseen circumstances had to be postponed to 1 & 2 November. The manager was understanding and suggested we give him our due-to-expire voucher numbers so that he can receive payment in the meantime. Then things went wrong and I battled to have any communication. By the time the week-end...

We had the most terrible experience with our stay. They did not even have respond to my complaint. When we arrived there was only a lady in the kitchen and we had to stand there on the grass for about a hour. When somebody arrived it was like they did not even have had a room ready for us, they...

We stayed over for a night recently - the setting is very tranquil & the surroundings peaceful (great for de stressing). The accomodation is clean & the rooms well decorated. The buildings are somewhat rundown and in need of TLC - But they do have charcter and replicate the architecture of a bygone era. The Manor House where we stayed...

We had the most amazing, relaxing weekend at Makouvlei. The setting is simply breathtaking, with superb views of the valley and a great garden with nice benches to read and relax. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms have a great modern twist. The whole farm has a wonderful rustic feeling. Since it's a bit far out of Barrydale, they...

The good and the bad.... Good : we were allowed to take our dog and she loved it. However, if our dog didn't suffer from travel stress, we probably would have turned around and gone straight back to C.T. Good : Surroundings are peaceful and rejuvenating Bad : The buildings are totally run down and need LOTS of TLC Bad...

We recently stayed at Makouvlei for a weekend and it was very disappointing. After initially making a booking about 2 months ago I tried to confirm the booking for our upcoming weekend. I was unable to get hold of anyone for 3 days – I left several messages and also enquired via email, eventually on the 4th day someone picked...

This farm has recently been taken over by new managers. Didn't quite know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. The farm has been in the wrong hands for a long time and is in need of lots of love, care and a few upgrades, however these are all in very good hands under the lovely ladies and new management...
