Stayed 5 nights in Motse in mid May as a single traveller. I had Adrian and Aril as my guide and tracker. I knew when I went to Tswalu that the safari would not be about the big animals (no hippos, crocs or elephants) as it's the Kalahari desert with no permanent rivers. But it was all about the small... The Good: Our Guide, Rodger was very good, the accommodations were very nice and the Kalahari desert terrain is beautiful. The reserve is reputed to be the largest private game reserve in South Africa and I do not doubt it. The waiting facility (wait for the bush plane to fly you directly to the reserve) was outstanding, with every amenity... More

Dear Gary Thank you for taking the time to share your Tswalu experience. Given the size of the reserve and the nature of the arid savanna, the density of species is not as you would find, for example, in the Sabi Sand. Whilst we enjoy an incredible diversity of species indigenous to this part of the world, the wildlife is... More

We went for four nights . The trip to Tswalu was one of my most memorable safari experiences. The Motse accommodation is very luxurious , the staff absolutely superb and the food (considering two of us were vegetarian) was outstanding. Our guide Trevor and tracker Jonas were so good that they ensured we had the best sightings of our life.... More

The Southern Kalahari is filled with so much undiscovered magic, and I am so delighted to read that you were able to experience it! A sighting of a pangolin amongst so many other wonderful animals, is an experience in itself and I hope it made for an everlasting memory! We eagerly await your return. But until then, keep well and... More

Had never heard of this reserve before but after being highly recommended by my travel company I included it in my itinerary (as one of three reserves to visit). It was simply stunning - the lodge itself is luxurious as you might expect but what was unexpected was the fantastic scenery, the incredible range of unique animals (including the Pangolin,... More

This was our second visit to Tswalu, the first time to the Motse in 2014 and this time to the exclusivity of Tarkuni. Once again this was a wonderful stay and all the staff worked hard to make our stay very special. Kali and David were exceptional guides and successfully tracked a Pangolin for us, we had not managed to... More

We went for 4 nights, with our 4 and 7 year old. From the Firebird Aviation welcome and facilities, to the plane, pick up other end, our guide Sean and tracker David and all the staff - it was amazing. I have lived in or visited the African bush for over 26 years, almost all the big reserves in Southern... More

This is a great area - what amazing safari viewing and wonderful guiding. Really different and so worth a visit. We're massive safari enthusiasts and were so wanting to see a pangolin. We saw pangolin, aardvark, aardwolf, black maned lion and had a wonderful sighting of a black rhino. Not to mention cheetah chasing kudu and meerkat interaction. Wonderful lodge,... More
