We spent two nights at Memela as part of the Kosi Bay Hiking Trail. Willis and his team went out of their way to make our group of 14 feel welcome, catering to various food and drink preferences, even making a birthday cake for one of our party who celebrated a birthday during our stay. We stayed in the two... More

We had a wonderful two nights in this special place in the middle of nowhere and wish we could have stayed longer. Right from when we arrived Willis made us feel welcome and shared with us his obvious passion for the area and its wildlife. The accommodation is basic but beautiful and very clean and comfortable and the food fantastic.... More

We stayed for a week from the 25th April 2015. The accommodation is rustic and very comfortable with an open air shower and toilet. Willis made our stay amazing and was a brilliant host. All the meals were great which included breakfast, lunch and dinner. If we were out scuba diving at Rocktail Bay or snorkelling at one of the... More

Ok, maybe I did not tell my family the hole truth about Memela, they were very surprise that I booked at this remote place. Their faces was priceless, and we had a good giggle when getting a bit lost and then seeing the accommodation. The accommodation is rustic with no solid walls and a opening at the back, but it... We spent 4 lovely days with Willis, Janie and Lily. The lodge is not what you normaly call luxurious, but it is in its own beautiful way. Wonderful trips to the ocean, with and without boat. Excellent food and Willis is a wonderful guide! If we ever come back to South Africa, we will visit you again. Kerstin and Per-Olov... More

We visited Memela in October with our children and another family. We fell in love with this special place, it is very different, but has an integrity and beauty which is a privilege to experience. Yes it is rustic, but the warmth and hospitality of Janie, Willis and their delightful daughter Lily are sheer luxury. The home cooked meals were... More

We spent an awesome 5 nights at Memela, with Jannie and Willis as our hosts. Every day, we explored the surrounding beaches which are pretty much untouched, each different in their own ways, and never disappointing. Snorkelling was really good at Kosi Mouth, and Lalaneck, and thanks to Willis, who was always around to give us helpful advice which we... More

Amazing stay!! Beautiful lodge, very well equipped and in the middle of beautiful nature. Janie and Willis are perfect hosts, they are full of ideas on what to do around there and they are very kind and generous. And lastly, the food, probably the best 'braai' we ever ate and also very nice breakfast and packed lunch!! Just go and... More

Exactly what we where looking for, relaxing, quiet, peaceful, and plenty of activities nearby. The accommodation is rustic, but comfortable. Food is great, beyond expectations. You can see that Willis has been in the industry for a while, and been involved with some upmarket lodges, he has brought some of these luxury touches to his own lodge. Its the small... More
