Our most recent stay at the Motel Safari exposed us to the Wanda Jackson suite. It was terrific. The room was spotless and modern. The suite essentially combines two rooms and provided us with a king size bed, refrigerator, a large flat screen TV, and a spacious sofa. The room was tastefully decorated with "period" photos mainly devoted to rockabilly... More

I decided to stay here after reading the positive reviews that were given about this hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect at first; however, I was not disappointed. My room (22) was large, clean, and quiet. Got to meet the owner who showed me the room and informed me of what was nearby to get something to eat. The ambience... More

Stayed with two adjacent (connected) rooms with 2 adults and 3 kids. Rooms were good and clean and we enjoyed our stay. Service was very attentive, we eg had radios on playing nice music when we entered rooms. Motel has good retro feeling including some murals. No breakfast but there is a good breakfast place (Kix) in walking distance.

We had two families and rented 3 rooms. Clean, neat, simple, refurbished, classic motel rooms on Route 66. Not fancy, but appropriate. Good value compared to other refurbished motels in the area. Locally owned, of course. WiFi is not robust, but adequate for checking in with emails and such. No videos and such. Would stay here again.

Was looking to get was close to the old Route 66 travel experience and found it at Motel Safari. Booked in advance for good value. Room was clean and bed comfortable; asked for quiet location and was given room at end; appreciated being able to park right in front of the room. Organic toiletries in bath area. Nice group sitting... More

This is the second time I have stayed at this great retro motel. My husband & I stayed here 2 years ago while driving Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica. This year I took my sister with me as we drove toward a family vacation in Colorado. Loved it on our first trip & loved it even more this... More

Historic route 66 hotel; American owned & operated. Was a Best Western back in the '50's when it was built. The whole property has been refurbished and updated. Super clean, very comfortable and nicely updated. No swimming pool, but the motel has some of the town's coolest murals on it's walls. I highly recommend stopping here for a night.

This was the epitome of what you'd hope for from a classic, late 1950s Route 66 motel. Centrally located on the main Route 66 drag through town, it has vintage details outside (charmingly gaudy neon camel sign, plastic pink flamingos, murals, architectural quirks, vintage advertising - "More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette!") and in (posters of old Tucumcari... ammentities at a lower cost than chain motels. I really appreciated the furnishings, which were styled in a fashion that remains true to the era in which the motel was built. The provided toiletries were better than your typical hotel products. Updates were made where it counts (i.e. beds, televisions, carpet, light fixtures). I would stay here again!
