My group of women friends have been going to La Paloma for many years and we always have a wonderful time. The soaking is great - they have extensive options and hours for soaking. The accommodations are varied - you can get whatever experience you like. We get one of the suites and we love it as we can all stay together and cook, hang out in the backyard and play games.
This was my favorite T or C Hot Spring 15 years ago. The new owners suck. I have been dreaming of their springs for years. Drove cross country to get there. Their website claims they have walk in soaking hours. I got here. So excited to get into the tub I’ve been dreaming of for a decade and…no. They haven’t had walk in hours since Covid. 2 years ago. I am crushed. And bored and angry. Update your website!!!! Stop crushing people’s dreams!!!
If you are visiting La Paloma for the first time, please understand that this is not your typical "resort". Here, you will find unique and vintage furnishings and one-of-a-kind rooms. You are not choosing La Paloma for the luxury, you are choosing La Paloma for the healing waters and peaceful zen vibe. You are not choosing La Paloma because you want every part of your stay to be perfect, you are choosing La Paloma because you are more comfortable with perfectly imperfect. I've visited La Paloma a few times now. I highly recommend to family and friends and would love to keep this place all to myself. About the waters...you won't find better healing waters anywhere. Sometimes you have to settle for 99degrees of healing, sometimes you'll be blessed to soak in 103 or 105 or 106! If you want a guaranteed soaking temperature, head to your nearest bathroom and turn on the faucet. These are NATURAL waters and naturally fluctuate in temperature. I've soaked in warm and hot and the healing properties exist in both. Every room I've stayed in has been clean and functional. Bathrobes are included for your use! Sitting in the quiet courtyard at night after a soak looking up at the stars is one of my very favorite things about La Paloma.…
I was really looking forward to a low-key and relaxing stay, and had heard about this place for years from friends and family who have been coming here for many, many years. Unfortunately, the experience started off poor and only got worse. My traveling companion, a 30+ year devotee, will never be returning either after this one. A summary of what we experienced: - Food crumbs in kitchen when I first walked in; had to ask twice to get them to clean it up. - Reported a nonworking lamp that they never checked on or tried to remedy, even after I tried replacing the light bulb and plugging it in elsewhere - Sheets in 1 of the beds were dirty - Door lock didn't lock properly and couldn't be locked on multiple occasions; had to lock my computers in the car every time I left the room - Robes were stained with coffee and not clean - Found dirty underwear and trash in a dresser and requested they be removed on 2 separate occasions by 2 different staff members. Never happened. - I was disallowed to enter a tub despite having reserved the room and being in the process of walking into it when a staff member came in to reserve it for a walk-in customer. I argued the point and was told the walk-in customer took precedent because they had paid for it. - Our stay was interrupted by staff replacing chairs for our dining table, and when I reported the cleanliness issues again, particularly the dirty underwear in my room, I was ignored again. I spoke with multiple staff members about everything multiple times, and was assured things would be "made right". Well, they weren't. A very modest credit that didn't even cover taxes of my room charges was provided and I was assured my experience would be used to provide a better training opportunity for the staff. Not sure about everyone else, but I don't travel and pay to train staff how to ensure I have a sanitary and basically clean room to stay in. Confidence in the staff and management to address concerns on a daily basis and manage the facility is lacking, and I'm awaiting a response from management as I've requested the owners reach out to me to provide a much better resolution to such an abysmal experience, especially given I tried multiple times to have the staff remedy the challenges I outlined throughout my stay.…
Always a little reluctant these days to "advertise" a hidden gem...as we have noticed the numbers of people on the riad and/or visiting spots where it used to be available and secluded has now become "discovered" - I'm afraid this little gem will be too...but in all fairness this IS a little gem. If you are the kind of traveler who requires "first class" or some such accommodations then I would honestly say this is not the place. But, if you wnjoy the looser vibes of not-so-perfect then you will certainly enjoy this spot. Our room was filled, yes, with "vintage" furniture, the bed was adequate, the water is naturally flowing which some aficionados say keeps the healing energy pure...I believe it. Yes, some pools were closed but we never had a problem finding a place to soak...and temps were variable...but all good... after two days of soaks i felt as though I'd done my body a great favor. The staff were all helpful, friendly and professional...all the staff, from front desk to maintenance to housekeeping.... We know that we will be back again.…
1 of the 5 tubs was closed, two were 100 degrees, the two that were truly hot were never available because they are also rented to the public; roaches in the room; no wifi unless you access it the lobby. A place that used to be funky and fun is in serious decline.
unique setting, The mineral water flow naturally from the earth. I felt a connection with mother earth. After several soaks the bags under my eyes were gone. The staff in the office were kind and helpful.
La Paloma was a nice surprise. Our room was cute and vintage. It had a nice living area with a large TV open to a kitchenette. The bedroom was cute with a nice vintage vanity area. (The only thing I would suggest is opening the toilet area in some way as it was quite small and I am a petite person. My husband was cramped in the small room. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. My husband enjoyed a massage; Ova was great and I truly enjoyed my facial and time with Dayna. She was knowledgeable and helpful suggesting many things to me that I will follow up on. And of course the mineral water soak after treatments were great. Would recommend.
Great job maintaining and upgrading a vintage property true to its "beginnings". Which is why I chose Truth or Consequences for a time of rejuvenation.Real and genuine people and the baths here are spring water coming up naturally through pebbled ground. Andre Soule did incredible body alignment work. My daughter and I enjoyed our 2 day stay and plan to return for baths and therapy. I consider it well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Albuquerque.
Real hot springs, not pumped in from other sources. Numerous sizes and temperatures, knowledgeable staff and they make you feel welcomed. Quiet atmosphere with plenty of amenities. The upstairs kitchenette is a good choice.
