Detailed Reviews
We spent the night at Riverbend with another couple and we all really enjoyed it. We had heard about it from a cousin, so decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a small, quiet, eclectic, unexpectedly delightful place. Don't go if you are expecting a large, luxurious spa resort - that is not what this place is all about. You can tell it has been slowly expanded over the years because the layout is kind of quirky, but that adds to the compelling charm of this little gem. From the outside the place is intriguing with its bright teal colored buildings, but once you step through the gate into the courtyard and public pool area the real charm of this oasis in the desert becomes apparent. The public soaking pools are spotlessly clean and clear and they are set right next to the slow flowing Rio Grande River so the ambience is very relaxing and calming. Even though the parking lot was almost full the pools never felt crowded. There are plants everywhere and several of the pools have a patio cover overhead, so even though you can't wear sunscreen you can still find a shady spot to soak in the hot water. While food or alcohol is not allowed in the soaking pools, there is a nearby area with a lovely bar counter, grill and tables where you can eat if you want to. We also booked a soak in one of the private pools for a reasonable extra charge, which was just as nice as the public ones but had the advantage of being completely private therefore clothing optional (although we were not quite uninhibited enough to remove the swimsuits with another couple in there with us - maybe next time). Also there are not a lot of dining choices in T or C and most of them close early, so keep that in mind if you are booking a private soak in the evening. We stayed in one of the "Artist Rooms", which like the rest of the Inn was small but very charming. Our rooms appeared to be in a repurposed double wide trailer or a manufactured housing unit of some type, but don't let that turn you off. They were very comfortable and quiet and did not feel "cheap" at all. The service was really good and communication was great from the time of booking all the way through to the time we checked out, with texts and e-mails keeping us informed every step of the way. The owners have embraced technology with the use of RFID wrist bands instead of keys to access the rooms and the gates into the common areas. We really appreciated them since they were water proof and convenient, although it would have been nice to be able to easily remove them at night when we were sleeping. If you want to spend some quiet, relaxing, romantic time with your significant other for a quite reasonable price, I would highly recommend this unique, out of the way accommodation.

As part of a roadtrip we stayed for one night and it is a wonderful place. Wished we could have stopped for a little longer, but alas our itinerary wouldn’t allow it, however we did make the most of our time by arriving at earliest check in and departing right on check out the next day and loved every minute of being there.
Check in was friendly, easy and swift. Our accommodation in one of the artist rooms was spotless and well presented, but of course the highlights are the hot springs, which are absolutely delightful. It wasn’t over crowded at any point, so we could either have a pool to ourselves or comfortably shared with others. Just perfect sitting in that warm water in the afternoon, evening and following morning right on the banks of Rio Grande. A great aspect all around with nothing spoiling the wonderful views.
A lovely place that is thoroughly recommended!!

Wow! When planning our trip many months ago T or C wasn’t even a stopping point. I stumbled upon the Sierra Co. tourism site and read about the number of hot springs. I initially booked one night and was so excited that I booked a second night. I booked two private pool slots as well. Each time on the phone the customer service delivered was warm, welcoming and informative.
Contactless check-in was a breeze. We had received numerous updates confirming our reservation, reconfirming when the final deposit was due and on the day before and of check in to give further details.
What a beautiful, well maintained property, perfectly serene, great for tuning out the chaos of the real world as you soak in your choice of pools varying in temperatures with views of the Rio Grande. I loved the relaxing music playing throughout, wished it were a bit louder in the private pools. All respectful guests were masked up where required and following the whisper zone rules. I believe the property was completely booked during our stay, however, the common pool areas were never crowded at all. A max of 7 people at one time is what we saw, other times less. We always found an available common pool, seating areas hardly occupied and just a few others waiting for private pool soak reservation times. Our private soaks in the Apache and Navajo pools were so cool! One at sunset and the other just at twilight. We got to watch the last bit of daylight exiting the sky and then Mars and the stars lit up the sky.
Our clean courtyard room was perfectly adequate for all one needed for a stay. Thumbs up for the great lighting in every room including the bathroom. The bed was a bit lumpy and not very comfortable. The shower took a bit of time to get the temperature right and the spray did wet the floor. These were the only negatives, so minor compared to everything else wonderful about the property.
RBHS is truly the gem of T or C! I would come back just to soak for days!

My neighbors and I (two octogenarians and a middle aged woman) were treated very rudely and threatened with eviction from the private pool we’d rented on the claim that we were being too loud. We aren’t exactly Spring Breakers, and we were not being loud at all. At most we were whispering or speaking in library voices. In fact we weren’t even speaking at all when the intercom issued a reminder to whisper, so we assumed it was a general reminder to all cabins. Shortly thereafter an employee banged on our door and threatened us with eviction. So we stopped even whispering and just listened to the people next to us converse with impunity. There was no need to treat us so rudely. Moreover, the sign in the room states the area is not monitored, and yet the employee said he’d been monitoring us. I wonder if it is even legal to eavesdrop without notice, and I wonder if they were actually hearing the people next to us.
Don’t waste your money on the private area. The public pools area is beautiful and more enjoyable without the Draconian and arbitrarily and capriciously enforced rules of the private area. But bring your own towel and robe or pay $3 to rent a wafer thin and threadbare, small bath towel and $8 for a waffle robe as thin as cheesecloth (and they hold your car keys in case you’re inclined to pilfer said cheesecloth robe).
I did also watch a male employee exit the public area restroom without washing his hands. Makes you question the “enhanced cleaning procedures” when basic hand washing isn’t even followed.

The staff are incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and do everything in their ability to make sure the stay is perfect. The shelter-in-place and closure of lodgings happened during our stay but they lowered our rates and let us extend our time as we were self-contained in an RV. Despite not being able to use the facilities, we found the stay, the area, and the resort, when it was open to be absolutely perfect for a calm, relaxing, reflective experience.

Calm environment. Quiet zone. Perfect get-away. I didn’t want to leave. This is the amazingly perfect location to leave all your daily stresses behind. The pools of warm water give you lots of choices to find the perfect temp to soak in. The views along the Rio Grande as you soak let’s your mind wander. To nothing or whatever you choose to get into ‘relax mode’. The congenial welcome at check-in was thorough as was the personal tour of the property. I was shown where to find things(towels), how to use my armband security key, location of room, etc and I felt immediately at ease and ready to enjoy the hot springs. Will I go back? You bet! Do I want to share my enthusiasm and joy of this location with others? Not really—-it will make it difficult for me to reserve ‘my’ room! This is a quiet gem of a location. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

This is our 2nd time to enjoy the hot springs at Riverbend. They are excellent with 8 common pools ranging in temperature from 95-108 degrees. They have private pools you can rent although we've never used the private ones. The RV spot was easy to get in even though it was a back in spot and we have a 37' motorhome. There is also some excellent restuarants in the area to dine at.

I can’t say enough about Riverbend Hot Springs. We loved that they provided us with private soaks since the public tubs were closed. The tubs were so clean and so peaceful. Our hotel was very comfortable and clean. We were there for our anniversary, we will be back maybe for all our anniversary’s. The office was closed due to the safety of the staff as it was the beginning of the corona virus. The staff was so helpful and very friendly.

Relaxing music playing, great scenery - saw craines fly by. Great place for a weekend away!
Dining options limited for the solo traveler. Room service is available, but the minimum couldn't be met on a meal for one. There are some local restaurants you can drive to. Consider bringing food/snacks in a cooler as there is no fridge in the Artist rooms.

The challenge.
Find a hotel with hot springs in New Mexico.
Almost hesitant to review this gem because the availability was so limited, but loved this little slice of peace and tranquillity.
So lucky to book the last available room for a last minute reservation. Although communication, checkin and checkout were contactless, it was very easy and informative. Sent a COVID screening survey and info on the property prior to checkin. Welcome text message sent as well.
Picked up a packet outside the office that included the WiFi password, hotel information and our bands that opened our room and allowed us unlimited entry to eight "public" thermal pools for the duration of our stay. Room was basic, but perfect for an overnight stay.
The real reason to stay here?
Eight hot springs pools along the Rio Grande. So peaceful. Zen-like. Relaxing. Beautiful river views.
Each pool is at a different temp. Limited to one family per pool. Masks and social distancing required. Private pools are also available for an extra hourly fee, but we had no issue getting a pool in the evening or the early morning. The largest pool even had a couple of comfy hammocks and was long enough to swim a few short laps in the early morning. So beautiful to see the sky filled with stars at night. Lucky to see Saturn and Jupiter so clearly.
Not fortunate enough to book a room? Limited public access passes are also available.
Nice for an overnight stay in Truth or Consequences.

No. It is right in town.
We stayed in the Casita. There’s a very nice table in the kitchen where you could write.
Not only that you would have a private patio and there’s a table out there. And of course there’s your own private hot springs hot tub as well.
The only issue is there is only one accommodation like this. Hopefully you will be able to reserve it.
Thank you, guests for answering. I just now discovered this question. There seems to be a common misconception that there are mosquitoes near all rivers but mosquitoes can't breed in moving water. During our "rainy" monsoon season (July-September), there is a possibility of mosquitoes due to rain puddles. We are vigilant about preventing this and since we don't usually get enough rain for any puddles to last long, it's rarely ever an issue. As for the pool temperatures. They range from 95-107 in the Winter and 98-108 in the Summer. We have 8 common pools and 7 private pools to choose from, plus the cold Rio Grande is accessible at your own risk during the summer as a COLD plunge.
Yes. It's a little slow in the rooms but if you sit in the courtyard or near the pools there's a better connection.
