We came to the Palacio after staying at two larger hotels in Albuquerque and Santa Fe managed by the same chain, Heritage Hotels. And what a treat this was -- possibly our favorite of the three! The hotel feels like something between a charming private residence, a cozy b&b, and a historic inn. Our suite, the Matriarch, (which, like all the others was named for an iconic female figure from Taos), had an eclectic and expansive library, a little fireplace, and a modernized bathroom. The rooms all open onto a quiet courtyard with small tables and chairs and we also had a private patio perfect for star-gazing at night. But what we most appreciated was the service. In our few nights, we met Mark (the GM of both our hotel and the much larger Monte Sagrado - where you can visit to use the pool and spa), the warm and friendly chef (Nicholas) and Jos, who wrote to us before our arrival and welcomed us when we checked in. This trio worked so beautifully together and ensured that all our needs were taken care of. Then there's the breakfast! We were astonished by the range of freshly made pastries, and hot & cold offerings (frittata, bacon, oatmeal, french toast) in the morning buffet -- all served buffet-style as we mingled at the common table with the other guests. We noticed that the property is for sale -- and hope that whoever purchases it, maintains its unique character and keeps the staff on board!

This place was great! More like a Bed and Breakfast…I stayed in the “Romantic “ Room and loved it! Beautiful room with nice amenities and a Huge shower! However, the staff is what truly stood out the most. Jos at reception went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable! How fortunate for them to have such a great employee. Customer service in most places has went out the window, but not here. The manager Mark was a really nice guy too but I dealt mostly with Jos. Thanks Mark and Jos! Queenie

I booked this bed and breakfast because a lot of the places I normally go to in Taos had no vacancies for the time I wanted to stay. I decided to splurge a little! Totally worth every penny! This hidden gem is absolutely wonderful! Everything from the room, the breakfast, to even the parking area feels luxurious. The staff are very welcoming, and anticipate every need. I highly recommend staying here, you won’t regret it!

I have stayed here several times over the years when visiting Taos - both on solo trips and with friends. It is a perfect, charming place just enough off the beaten that you feel like you are in a secluded villa. Completely a walkable adventure to the plaza and all the greatness Taos has to offer. Hosts are kind and thoughtful. Breakfast in the morning is always delicious and satisfying with just the right splash of New Mexican flavors. I am saddened to hear that Heritage is looking to sell this beautiful place and I hope that the new owners are able to maintain the charm of this place. PS The themed rooms featuring female artists of the Southwest is what roped me in in the first place - Georgia, Millicent, Agnes … oh my!

First, the property is lovely and well kept. When we checked in it was 90 degrees outside. First thing we noted was that there was no A/C. There was a fan in the room but it was very warm in there. We asked for a second fan which we got. In spite of the fans, it was a miserable and sleepless night. The house must be made of adobe which absorbs the heat and holds onto it! Very, very uncomfortable and no one slept at all. Also, we were told to help ourselves to cookies because it was too hot to turn on the oven to make fresh ones. The cookies were dry and clearly old. Overpriced and uncomfortable - don't say there in the summer! Breakfast was so-so and way to hot to be comfortable in there.

We came here for a few nights as part of my birthday trip. Jos and Mark were our hosts and they were amazing. Very kind, attentive and accommodating. The room we were In (The Icon) was so beautiful. Clean and spacious, with a mini fridge that had water, and the bathroom was phenomenal. Jos went above and beyond to try and get us dinner reservations on my birthday. Turns out almost nothing is open in Taos on Monday’s and Tuesday’s but he did find us a reservation after calling almost everyplace available. The only things I would say were a bummer is, we asked for turndown service (clean towels, bed made, etc) we put the sign that the hotel provides outside our door as well, indicating we wanted our room cleaned and it wasn’t. Not a huge deal. The other bummer was how hot the room was. There’s no ac, and even though we had a ceiling fan as well as a little fan on the table the room was uncomfortably hot at night. That being said, we would definitely come back to this place (maybe not in July) it’s beautiful and very well maintained, bed was soft and luxurious.

The Palacio de Marquesa is literally a hidden gem in Taos. It is tucked away in a quiet, unprepossessing residential neighborhood, a little difficult to find, but when you enter its courtyard gate, it is like stumbling on a place transported from a small town in Portugal. It has a laid-back feeling that goes well for one seeking something other than a slick modern hotel. The rooms are pleasant and the reception building is lovely. A special mention of the young chef, Nick, is in order - he is a first class chef, serving a lovely breakfast and being willing to address special requests (we were leaving earlier than the service and he worked up some scrumptious flaky pastries for the road for us).

We only had a 1 night stay here but put our faith that hospitality still exists in the hotel business. Lisa greeted us via text and then at the hotel in person. We had a nice chat about the hotel and Taos. She gave us great dinner rec which turned out very useful as Taos square had lost a lot due to COVID. She changed my res (Socialite I)based on being a party of 3 and stayed in Socialite II. The room was exactly as the pictures; it was very clean and everything worked (which is not the case in our recent experience other places). There are 4 or 5 skylights in the room as well—Awesome natural light! Michael greeted us in the morning with an awesome spread of Greek yogurt with berries and granola, grn chili eggs and bread pudding. So many more small but great touches to mention. Please do yourself a favor and stay here next time in Taos.

We stayed in the matriarch suite for 4 days and used it as our base to explore Taos, Santa Fe, and the Rio Grande areas. The breakfast is simple but amazing and Chef Nicols was full of information as well as excellent food. While only slight variations each day, we loved everything they had. Bed was very comfortable and the rooms, while not air condition, being Adobe where very comfortable with a spacious bathroom and a dedicated sitting area

We really enjoyed our stay. We were welcomed by Jos, who made us feel right at home, offering us refreshments and cookies and making reservations for us at a popular local restaurant. Breakfast was excellent too. Nick, the chef, whipped up a variety of delicious breakfasts, was friendly and offered suggestions on where to eat in the area. They both rocked. We were happy with our room, which was spacious and had a small patio area.
