Casa Gallina is truely Taos treasure. There is nothing Richard, our talented, kind and energetic host, has not considered very very carefully from the comfort and decor of the individual casitas, to the vistas a guest might see from each window, to the peaceful surroundings outside. Upon arrival, Richard welcomed us with wine, nuts, cheeses, olives, provided fresh eggs from... More

A regular visitor to Taos, I have stayed in many places, and this is by far the most special and magical place. Tucked off the Ranchitos Road, near the Martinez Hacienda a person can leave behind the worries of the world. Richard is the consummate hotelier and host. No details were left out, and many additions including surprise offerings of... More

Richard IS Casa Gallina. Our experience in Taos was made exquisite by his recommendations, fresh eggs (from the chickens), and his generous hospitality. We'll be back soon and we'll definitely be staying in Casa Gallina

We were told about Casa Gallina by a friend who recently moved to Taos after buying a business ...Taos Clay. She did not steer us wrong....what a wonderful homey place! Richard was there to greet us and explain everything....what a welcome! The accommodations are lovingly decorated with artistic flair and eye to creative detail. A feast for the eye! Richard... My friend and I arrived tired and okay maybe a little cranky. But Richard's welcome immediately pulled us into the world of Casa Gallina. And, believe me, this is another world. Richard has thoughtfully created a retreat that is hard to leave. The private rural setting, the accommodations, the well stocked kitchen are all more than you'd expect. But really,... More

Was very fortunate to get a last minute reservation here. There was a big wedding in town...and I must have gotten a cancellation. Richard, my host, was amazing. He met me and gave me a tour of the my casita (which graciously accepted Rocky, the Chihuahua) and a tour of the adjacent grounds. My little home away from home was... More

This is our second visit to Casa Gallina, 5 years apart, 2 different casitas, loved them both. The clean country-ish air & experience, chickens included, make for a relaxing & casual getaway with plenty of room to roam inside & out. Richard, the host, is delightful, informative & a tremendously talented baker- he indulged us with a wonderful daily treat... More

Our two night stay in Taos was a short family reunion for my two adult children, my 16 year old grandson, and myself while attending a family wedding. Our arrival began with Richard's warm welcome to our 3 Bdrm casita complete with warm handshake & hug, appetizers (crackers, cheese, stuffed grape leaves, peppers, eggs, nuts, apples) & wine, and a... As the sun shined through the drooping branches of the willow tree, I sat at the base and looked up from the salubrious meal we had just harvested and cooked to take it all in. The organic beds in the foreground near the stucco casitas contained a plethora of salads, kales, broccolini, herbs, beets, carrots, rhubarb, tomatoes....the perfectly ripe apples... More

We've been enjoying Taos for thirteen years, but we just found this gem. We had the privilege of staying in the Bantam Roost and also the Barred Rock, and we toured almost all the other properties. They are ALL very spacious and beautifully decorated, and spotless! We were warmly met by the owner and now consider him a friend! Best... More
