I always need a massage, but I REALLY needed a massage after 3 days of almost non-stop driving across the country. And hoo boy, did I stumble upon a gem. I cannot recommend Benito's deep tissue massage enough. I told him what hurt and why and he know exactly what to do without me having to walk him through it. He wasn't afraid to really go hard on my (many) knots. I was putty in his hands. And he is super attentive; there were so many little details that I wouldn't allow myself to fall asleep because I wanted to see what came next. If you're ever in or near Taos, go to this hotel and ask for BENITO. Spring for the 90 minutes. I know it's not cheap, but it is SO worth it. The only criticism I can offer is that he lives in New Mexico and I don't :(
We met two couples here and everyone raved about this hotel. The grounds are so lush and beautifully maintained. Everyone was terrific- the hotel front desk was helpful and attentive. All of the valet's were incredibly friendly and helpful. We dined at the hotel the first night and it was very good. Our waiter took six people's orders without notes and not a single thing was wrong. Very impressive. We swam one afternoon and the pool was heated just the right temperature, and the hot tub too. The maids were responsive to extra towels or soap. In all, no one had any complaints and everyone loved the weekend. We will always stay at El Monte Sagrado.
We only sampled the spa and had a lovely experience. The service was high end in their full service spa. We had the couples massage in a lovely room. The wait room is a beautiful garden like atmosphere in a room inside the spa. We were able to use the sauna after our massages and then after checking out of the spa, we sampled also the saltwater pool - which is also a lovely and serene area. Highly recommend. If we return to Taos, I would want to stay here
Wonderful trip from the moment we pulled in. The kindest people, from the valet attendants, to the front desk (Lynn was a gem!), to the bar tenders. The grounds are so beautiful, our room was gorgeous (Global hot tub suite, Mexico). So sad we were only there one night! I was traveling with my husband and two kids (8 and 5). Peaceful, tranquil, beautiful. I cannot wait to plan a trip back!
I had the most extraordinary massage given by Alana, my massage therapist. My daughter received an excellent massage from Laurie. My massage was incredibly soothing and I felt immediate relief from lower back pain. The setting is peaceful and restorative.
My family of 4 (2 teenagers) stayed here for 2 nights and has a nice visit. The hotel is just outside of town in a quiet wooded area that we thought was pretty and private. They have a complimentary shuttle into town which we used one night. The valet team and shuttle driver were very friendly and responsive as was the team at the front desk. The resort is divided into a series of different buildings so you do have to walk outside to get to your room from the main lobby / restaurant area. It didn't bother us. The room itself was okay - nothing amazing - but we appreciated the balcony, electric fireplace and large bathroom.
From the moment we arrived and spoke with the valet until check out time, we thoroughly enjoyed this property. We stayed in one of the suites, that was spacious and clean. Dinner at the on site restaurant was fabulous, and we enjoyed playing pool in the game room in the evening. Lots of other amenities, such as indoor pool and day spa, which we look forward to utilizing on our next stay. We will be back!
Although the grounds were nice and the staff was pleasant, the property needs and uplift. The rooms were a bit dingy with little light and they are in need of repair. Our toilet malfunctioned the entire stay and we requested help but it was never fixed. On the other hand, the food was decent. Although they run shuttles downtown, it is within walking distance though a bit far.
We were not actually staying at El Monte, although it is a very special resort in a very special town. I did decide to splurge and went to El Monte's health spa for a 60 minute deep tissue massage. I had an amazing overall experience with Benito, who is not only a skilled massage therapist...but also an integrative healer, a master linguist for his tribe, and a drummer. He has traveled globally interacting with aboriginal people throughout the world. I had a fantastic experience on many levels of healing and learning!
The staff was excellent. They gave us the red carpet treatment. It felt like being a star of your own show every day we woke up. Prices are step but you pay for the experience and it was a great experience. We went for valentines week and it was just amazing. They have on site complementary valet, a shuttle that takes you into town within a 4 mile radius(complementary), and a gorgeous swimming pole area. Needless to say this place is a GEM!!!!!
