I stayed at the Kopano Lodge of the Madikwe Safari Lodge Group. It was perfect! Adults and children of 16 or older. Only 8 guests. The lodge was breathtaking and the staff could not do enough! I was treated so special and felt like royalty. The lodge was able to arrange a private safari for a whole day (at a... More

We stayed at the smaller Lodge with only 8 guests and it was truly magical! The rooms are exceptional with the perfect balance of luxury and Bush beach room feels completely secluded and has its own private plunge pool. The staff were friendly, the food great! Highly recommend this spot!

Overview: First things first....we absolutely loved this vacation, we loved the people, we loved the lodge and would go back in a heartbeat. We are a family of 5 with 3 small children (ages 7, 5, and 1.5). Many thought we were crazy for traveling with such young children to the middle of the bush in South Africa. Lelapa Lodge... More

My husband and I and our soon to be 10 year old son have just returned from 5 of the most wonderful days ever! This is the most amazing place. The staff are so helpful and attentive, Nicole, Sean, Beauty to name but a few. Sean's welcome on our arrival was incredible from cold drinks to a table set for... More

Just a wonderfully run lodge (congrats, Elaine, Nicole et al) in a game reserve full of wildlife from what we encountered. Rooms were excellent, staff were all really personable and food was really great. We were totally spoilt by our waitress for the stay, Tebogo, who always had a welcoming smile on her face and is a real credit to... More

The room, the people, the food, the safari were superb. The game meat was fresh and very tasty. Breakfast and Lunch on the deck overlooking the waterhole was like being in a movie. Spectacular views and animal sightings

All staff were incredibly attentive. We have 2 children (9&11) and all staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful making all of our time at Lelapa a wonderful stay. Maureen was our excellent waitress and always smiling. JP was our excellent safari guide ensuring we had excellent safari drives. The lodge itself was stunning and watching elephants walk past... If you want animals right on your doorstop and down at the pool this is the place for you. Beautifully appointed large lodges, open fireplaces lit by staff every night, hot water bottles in the beds and blankets and hotties in the Jeeps on the game drives. Professional, caring and courteous staff, meal service rather slow with some cold meals... More

This was our first visit to South Africa. Didn't know what to expect but couldn't have asked for more in our inaugural safari experience. The entire staff was great, food was surprisingly sophisticated in such a remote area, and the clustering of individual lodges with their dedicated staff, dining room and kitchen made for a wonderfully intimate atmosphere. Many thoughtful... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
