This lodge is the pinnacle of luxury, from the moment you arrive, the service, the food, the game drives, just completely spoiled in absolute luxury, breakfast was amazing, choices from a menu plus the addition of a huge board filled with smoked salmon, granola and yoghurt, fresh fruits, orange juice, cheeses, ham and all that complimentary before you even got... This is a premium-priced lodge where I expected a 5-star-plus experience but did not get one. The rooms and facilities were excellent so nothing to fault there. The game-viewing was poor but I do not fault the lodge there (it's mainly luck). The staff were ok/fair. Acceptable at a 3-4star venue but not enough attention-to-detail for a premium resort. Maintenance... More

Well, what can I say about this wonderful place, from the time you step out your vehicle, you are welcomed with big smiles and lovely beautiful people. Loved everything about Madikwe Safari Lodge everything is pretty much beautiful and spotless and everyone does a professional job, the rooms, the food, the lodge itself all first rate. My drives were also... More

We stayed at Kopano Lodge, beautiful rooms with Elephants strolling past our windows! Wildlife was incredible, we were able to get within a couple of metres Cheetah feeding on a fresh kill as well as follow two male lions of a Buffalo hunt, sit beside endangered Wild Dogs as well as a 1 hour old Giraffe. So exciting! Staff went... More

Madikwe didn't disappoint in any way. We did tick of the big 5 over 2 days/4 drives but frankly it's not all about the big 5.... This is a great example of re-wilding, where farmland that was never that productive anyway has been allowed to return to being a well-stocked private reserve. The flight over from Jo'burg was in an... More

We stayed for 3 nights with our family with two children aged 10 and 13. From the moment we arrived at the lodge we were met with a warm welcome. The food was fantastic, I particularly liked that there was a small menu at brunch at which the kids could choose what they wanted, which made things easier. The evening... More

We stayed three nights at Kopano lodge (4 chalets sharing one Car/Ranger). First things first: The game drives were enjoying (including rare sightings of cheetahs and wild dogs). You immediately feel as part of the family. Dinner under the sky was highlight of stay. All the other things are fine too: Spacious Rooms, good food, friendly and authentic staff.

We are a family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We were staying in Dithaba Lodge with one other family with teenagers. From the moment we got there to the moment we left we felt spoiled. This lodge is truly amazing. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and your feel like a king but it is the staff that makes this an unforgettable experience. From when they welcome you on arrival with sparkling wine and a wet face cloth to when you depart and they send you off with a packed lunch for your trip nothing is... More

Wonderful place to get back in touch with African sites, sounds and smells. Staff are attentive and always wanting to please. Food was outstanding, rooms have everything you need! Including 'Gym in a basket' which is a quirky but novel idea as you never stop eating...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
