Thank you very much for these kind words and wonderful review, after your recent stay at Morukuru Owner's House. All guests that arrive at any of our properties will receive the same levels of service and personal attention, no matter who they are, or where they are from. Our teams love to spoil our guests and that is what they do best. In this case Vicky, Forchnet, Justice, Ellen, Gummy, Masego, James and Brad had a wonderful time with you. You also managed to see the Big 5 during your stay and some pretty amazing sightings of Black and White Rhino, a Leopard right next to the car and Lions stalking Zebra. For your next stay the bush bath will be waiting for Jessie, as well as a tub of delicious berries for each game-drive. Brad really loved the high five from Jessie on the last day, the perfect end to your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back! Warmest regards from all of us at Morukuru Family

We once again were fortunate enough to visit the newly refurbished Morukuru Family Owners House in Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa with dear friends. Despite all the strictly applied C-19 rules, it has not affected the warm inviting atmosphere, and dedication of the friendly staff. Besides the Owners House, the River House has been refurbished in the same style with warm yellow mustard, grey and black colours. Even the food- and drink covering jug- and table nets match the new look designed by the world renown Fox Browne company that has given so many lodges their unique characters and interiors on the African continent. C-19 no doubt has changed our lives and life styles we had to adopt to such as wearing face masks that are provided by the lodge, wrapped as a gift together with sanitiser and gloves and for the sake of the environment, personalised stainless steel water bottles are provided. It is up to the guests or they wear the face masks, because it’s their own temporarily house and home. I myself was pleasantly surprised by the delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes the chef prepared and that were savoured not just by me😊 and paired with outstanding wines. As a returning guest and carefully updated guest profile, no further explanations needed. Besides quality time with friends, the best parts are the game drives. The close encounters with Elephants, Rhino’s, Lions, Buffalo’s and when lucky a Leopard or Wild dogs. It takes your breath away to watch these animals so close by and especially their cubs, puppies, baby’s. The reserve has strict poaching policies and an excellent track-record on protecting it’s wildlife with all means. To us it is heaven on earth. Thank you very much my dearest Morukuru Family! Note: All rooms are excellent and since one rents the entire house/villa, no social distancing marks, nor mini bar on the room or pool bar is necessary. Butler service is available everywhere and anytime and in the unlikely event there is not, one has a coffee- and fully stocked drink self service bar. The lounge has e smart flat screen. Although one will never ever find the time to watch TV because one is kept busy with activities, game drives, food and drink experiences and catching up about sightings and stories.

I was told it was difficult to do a game drive with kids under 9 but at Morukuru it was not difficult at all. I have never experienced anything like that at all. It offers much more than hotel services. It is a culinary, cultural experience that me and my family will never forget. Thank you for the team of Morukuru! You are the best!

This was our third consecutive visit in three years. We have already brought both sets of parents and recommended to many family and friends at least one of whom has booked. This isn’t something we would do lightly. Further we have secured the next two years as confirmed bookings we love the people here so much. The team’s attention to detail and genuine love of their job shines through in abundance. It is obvious that they feel valued in their roles always smiling and happy and are clearly well treated. Ilse manages everything to perfection its as simple as that, she is the conductor of the orchestra that delivers the perfect sound. Evens delivers everything to your exact requirements in a discreet manner always with a big smile he knows us that well now he just puts the wine he knows we will like with our meals. Beauty was good last year but her culinary skills and friendly nature have really excelled in the year she has gained experience. Her food was outstanding and always delivered with a huge smile. She put plenty of time into our children educating them whilst providing them fun. Her assistant whose name eludes me was continually at work and again with a smile on his face. Ellen keeps everything in tip top condition as if by magic she appears and disappears leaving no trace where you have been. Our clothes were taken and returned beautifully at the end of the bed ready to go again. Patrick was always on hand to ensure everything was set out for us especially the boma and a roaring fire pit. But what makes this so amazing is Evan and Boiky they simply are amazing. Our children are in love with them like they are their closest family. The time and affection that they put into them particularly Evan is beyond the call of duty. The educational aspect of the trips is amazing to their knowledge and experiences. Our youngest at 9 years old knows things and remembers things I only became aware of at 48 years old. When he said to Evan that he likes the lesser more hen a bird he remembered from last year we were all amazed. The hours Evan puts into his job solely for our enjoyment is staggering. He clearly loves what he does and the surroundings in which he does it. Over the 7 nights we spent more than 70 hours in the vehicle on drives. In addition to that we were taken on two fantastic bush walks and two fishing trips each lasting numerous hours. At one point I had to call a stop to my sons fishing as I could see Evan and Boiky were completely exhausted. Its easy to be there loving every minute with little sleep when you are relaxing and not under the pressure of the driving the spotting the safety of the guests etc and easy to forget that Evan and Boiky are working. This is because they are so relaxed about everything and create the feel that they are on holiday with you. The most amazing day was when Evan took us on a day drive with Boiky and in the middle of seeing the magnificent 7 all in the one days drive served up in the bush a great bit of culinary skills with beauties beautifully prepared food washed down as always with a well-stocked cool box. Evan and Ilse are an amazing team as a couple we really do see them as our African family as we do the whole Morukuru family but they have infected us that it really feels like we are visiting family abroad. They even took the time outside all the activities mentioned to engage in a board game of risk which after 4 hours we had to conclude as a truce although they all know I won really 😊my physio always tells me to avoid long periods of driving back home as it doesn’t help my back but this wasn’t a problem despite the long hours in the vehicle as the perfect pressure of Susan’s hands would always be on hand in the spa to revitalise you and have you feeling relaxed and fresh for the next drive. Sorry for the snoring Susan! The people of Morukuru are simply amazing and the one thing that I really do appreciate and value as just as important as the quality of the property and staff is their dedication to the welfare of the animals and surrounding reserve through their conservation work and their goodwill trust. I would urge anyone to donate to this and if fortunate enough to invest in the protection and preservation of the animals with the various conservation opportunities that are available and so vital to continue to be able to provide the unique guest experiences. Rob who puts his time endlessly into the lion community and welfare is so passionate about the animals and on hand to provide confirmations and information. We made a special connection with Phil and Craig two amazing guys who selflessly put all their spare time and energy into the conservation work and protection of the animals which is completely admirable. They are so committed and passionate it cannot possibly go unnoticed and they are so humble in their requirements you can’t help but want to assist and reach out to them. We have made a personal goal to support a particular aspect we picked up on to contribute to their great work and that of those they oversee in the battle against the poachers. Morukuru and the Madikwe game reserve and everything it offers are firmly embedded in our hearts and souls with Evan Ilse and Boiky we dread to think of never being able to return. Our only negative is the heartache of leaving the emotional drain and the huge wave of depression for weeks after trying to get into the swing of things. Every time we leave a little more of us is left behind. We love you all so much Derek Laura Ryan and Rocky xxxx
