My wife and I recently enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Bush House in Madikwe in early November. We caught the safari bug on our 1st trip to South Africa on honeymoon in the Timbavati over a decade ago. It has since become a passion of ours and in the years which have followed we have been fortunate enough... More

I went to Madikwe, this year in September, with my best friend of 46 years. We have traveled together many times and we design and arrange our own itineraries. I found Madikwe on the web, along with The Bush House. Several things in the reviews made us want to go there. 1) Only people staying in hotels inside the reserve,... More

Stayed at the Bush house in August with my 14 year old son. We both loved everything about the Bush house and would love to visit again. Sue is a very warm and friendly owner and nothing was too much trouble. We had some truly amazing sightings on our game drives and Heinrich was a very patient photography teacher !... More

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. It really is such a gift to see a rhino close up especially from the proximity of the hide. We are thrilled that you were able to experience this for yourselves as they are such incredible animals. More

Our family of 11 stayed for two nights, enjoying 4 safaris where we saw not only the Big Five, but also the 'Magnificent Seven'. Heinrich and Daniel are so respectful of all the wildlife and environment, as well as patient with us humans and all our questions and requests! The lodge itself is truly splendid, I can't put it into... More

The Bush House is located quite close to the Wonderboom gate and you don't need 4x4 to get there. Madikwe will only allow you to drive your private car to your lodge. All game drives are done by your lodge in a safari vehicle. One the features of The Bush House is their water hole and the special look out... More

We visited Madikwe Game Reserve and stayed at The Bush House. Both turned out to be excellent choices. We've not visited other reserves yet, so we can't make direct comparisons, but it's hard to believe anything can top either Madikwe or The Bush House. You go here to see the wildlife and we were treated to morning and evening game... More

An amazing place to stay! We first stayed there in 2003 on our first trip to South Africa and before Madikwe got well known. We didn't think we would be able to return during our 2nd and 3rd trips to SA (we thought we'd only be able to go once!) and we wanted to see the rest of the country.... More

Safari isn’t just safari anymore…. And game lodges aren’t all alike. Every visit really does need to be special and every moment something to be remembered forever. The Bush House is not your typical Game lodge. The Lodge is set in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. It is an old farmhouse that after years of family laughter and happiness has been transformed into an inviting and relaxing residence that encourages guests to kick off their shoes and unwind. ... more   less
