#9 of 16 Specialty lodging in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve
Privacy, elegance with a hint of rustic charm, and a great sense of tranquility – this is what guests can look forward to at Geiger’s Camp. An opulent African adventure is in store, in the Timbavati and Umbabat Private Nature Reserve. Perched on a ridge, this hideaway boasts panoramic views of the Nhlaralumi River and Big Five terrain. Geiger’s Camp was originally a traditional family house and thus maintains a homely atmosphere, beyond its luxuriousness. Walls are decorated with stunning artworks, painted by owner, Marion Geiger-Orengo, bringing the splendour of the outdoors inside.

We can't recommend Geiger Camp and the Motswari team high enough! From the 5 star accommodations, the perfect meals, to the fantastic game drives. We were taken remarkable care of by Jacky and Vicki on our game drives. The food and service provided by Grace and Octavia and everything was flawless. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, we will be back to Geiger Camp and already looking at a summer time trip in 2022. Overall the trip was amazing.

This was our first visit to Motswari Private Reserve and in particular to Geiger's Camp. As a family of four we had the whole of Geigers to ourselves. What a spectacular view from the lodge over the reserve. The look and feel of the lodge is amazing and the staff were wonderful. The food was world class and far too much ! We were looked after like royalty and wanted for nothing. Game drives were lovely and sitting quietly listening to the roar of the African lion calling and then hearing the return call was spin chilling.

A unique lodge and the best we’ve been to in South Africa. We had the whole lodge - two families with our kids. The lodge is spacious and beautifully styled. Every amenity and comfort you could wish for. This lodge is in a league of its own because of the staff. Victoria is the lodge manager and game ranger. She is professional, interesting, knowledgeable and fun. She connects with each guest in a genuine way. Musa is fantastic. Grace, the chef is excellent- delicious healthy food, presented beautifully. Our tracker Lot was amazing. We saw the big five and in action! Animals interacting with one another. Two of us had birthdays - the team made a huge effort to ensure these were unforgettable. Such a privilege to have spent four days at this lodge, especially during covid times. We felt like we had been away for weeks!

We were lucky enough to have our Honeymoon at Geigers Camp & all I can say is WOW, WOW & WOW again. From the moment we checked in to Motswari, we were welcomed with open arms & a very refreshing drink. We were then driven to Geigers Camp which was approx 10 minutes away & Claude was there to give us another perfect welcome & show us around & take us to our very beautiful room, which was going to be our home for the next 4 nights/5 days, the room was laid out beautifully in a very traditional African way & everything in there to make our stay just perfect. There is a small swimming pool for the guests at Geigers to use (I believe there were 4 rooms at Geigers, so a maximum of 8 guests at any one time & for 1 night it was just myself & my Husband) there were several fridges dotted about where you could help yourselves to drinks throughout your stay there. We had a couple of hours to settle in before we were given Afternoon Tea, where there a wonderful selection of salads, fruits & amazing cakes, with a selection of drinks to set you up before your Safari Drive & at this point we met our truly wonderful Guide - Sean & Tracker - Hendry, who were allocated to us for our complete stay, their passion & knowledge of the African Bush was just amazing & each drive we went on with them both, was just so full of enthusiasm & they both clearly had such a passion for the African Bush & their jobs there, which we were so lucky to experience with them. After our first Drive (which lasts on average 2.5 - 3 hours) you then get half an hour or so to freshen up, before having your Evening Meal served by Grace & her fantastic team - the food we had during our stay here was just wonderful, my Husband even told her one night it was the best food he’d ever tasted!!! After your meal, you could chose to have a drink in the Lounge area or go back to your room for a nightcap. We were given a knock on the door at 5.15am & we met in the Lounge area at 5.45 where you are met with a beautiful array of food again like pastries & coffee/tea to set you up for the next few hours & Sean & Hendry would arrive with our Land Rover before heading off on another exciting adventure to see what we would find! After the 2.5/3 hour Drive you get time to freshen up again & then go & have your breakfast - again such a fantastic selection to cover everyone’s needs from fruit, cereal, croissants (best ones ever!) & a full English breakfast. The time was then yours to relax by the pool & watch the African wildlife go by till the next Drive. We saw some amazing sightings of the animals & wildlife during our stay & were so lucky to say we saw ‘The Big 5’ thanks to Sean & Hendry & their knowledge & driving - wow the terrains we drove over & through to find these animals! We also saw lots of Impalas, Kudu’s, Zebras, Giraffes, Wild Dogs Wildebeest, Hippopotamus, Crocodiles to name but a few & some beautiful birds & their amazing colours & were so lucky to see a Caracal too (a member of the cat family), where Sean told us this was his first sighting ever of one - each corner & turn you went round you were left wondering what you'd find & see - each Drive was a truly amazing adventure ❤️ We were fortunate enough during one drive to stop off & do a walk through the Bush with Sean & Hendry, but felt totally safe at all times with them. One night, we were so lucky to be able to stay in the ‘Giraffes Nest’ Treetop House which was beside a watering hole - wow what an experience that was to spend a night in the Bush under the stars (you could roll the back down & the sides too if you wanted - this was made so comfortable & we had a beautiful meal in there too - with an amazing selection of refreshments too - we watched the African Sun rise (their sun-rises & sunsets are just beautiful) before Sean & Hendry came to collect us for our morning drive. Thankyou once again to Sean, Hendry, Claude & All the amazing team at Geigers Camp who gave us a truly Amazing & Memorable Honeymoon stay with them & we definitely left part of our hearts there - we must try & save hard, so we can once again return!

Motswari Geiger's Camp is PHENOMENAL. We had a 4 night stay here and were blown away - Our trackers, Jackie and Vicky, were second to none and made the trip so incredibly special. The team based at Geiger's Camp go above and beyond to make you feel at home and produce some of the best food we've had. We also had one night in giraffe's nest which was such an amazing experience and would recommend to anyone! We will never forget this amazing trip and are looking forward to coming back one day very soon! Thank you.
